So last night... I started watching Westmin at Millikin, Westmin fell behind big and I switched... Westmin big comeback, fell short by 5

Went over to Mac at Monmouth... ugly, Mac had 'em. missed crucial freethrows down the stretch, parted the seas to let Monmouth score the winning layup with 4 seconds left... a shame, would have been an inexplicable win for a rebuilding Mac team, instead turns into just another tough loss...

Eureka takes care of business vs a woeful Knox team... while I watched it, a couple of incredible ally-oops to Dakota Bennington from Hank Thomas

Tonight could be another tough one for the SLIAC

Greenville plays Hope at North Park... Hope hasn't seen the system, but has the discipline to exploit it...  still, there are possibilities...

Blackburn plays DePauw at Illinois College... in the day, this would be a no contest, but DePauw has been down the last couple of years... still, it's hard to imagine the Beavers could take this one...

Fontbonne vs Marian Ind. at Moody Bible... Marian has started out with 4 lopsided wins, can Fontbonne provide a little more competition?  (not so sure)

Prin at Illinois College.. It would be nice, but 2 vs 5 is never very good odds....

Iowa Wesleyan at Colorado College... hoping Wez is enjoying the beauty of Colorado, because the game could be ugly....

so... I can root for any of the 5 SLIAC teams, but it may not get us a win....best bet... Prin....

I'm too lazy to check, but I'm guessing the North Park women are also playing because, who plays a 1:30 game?! Anyway, I really would've considered the 1 1/2 hour drive (probably two with rush hour traffic) to the north side of Chicago to see this game. I also considered going down there tomorrow afternoon, but I'll be heading to Stevens Point to see them play Buena Vista. Funny how I'm driving an hour further to see one game rather than an hour and a half to see two tomorrow.

Wife and I return to the Hinterlands next Tuesday... I've worked out a schedule for Thanksgiving thru Christmas that allows me to see each of the SLIAC teams with the exception of IWU, should I wish to follow it, and assuming the wife allows me out to that many games... If instead I go to best game, I'll miss another couple of teams... AND.. no long drives to IWC, Spalding or Eureka....  I considered an earlier return to St. Louis and then go up to Hope-Greenville at NP... glad I didn't as I would have run right into the middle of that Snow...and after 1100 miles drive from Florida (can't abandon the dog), a 500 mile round trip to North Park didn't seem very inviting.....

Good news: IWU is reporting that they now have the resources to make it through the Spring semester.

Great news for IWU... feel so happy for the kids playing hoops....

Definitely good news...

Question: have you penciled in Fontbonne at Washington University, Illinois Wesleyan at Washington University or Illinois Wesleyan at Webster?

Yes, great news.  Continue to trumpet the value of small liberal arts schools.

EC picks up first win over a horrid Knox team.  Everyone plays.  Not much else to say here.

A horrid Knox team? So how bad is Principia then? They were losing to Knox at halftime and we're only up 3 with just over 5 minutes to go in the game.

No offense to anyone's program, but there was no resistance there at all last night.  I think Hope said it, Goodman and Paulson are very good, but Prin is playing 2 on 5 this year, that's never easy...and they still won.

Knox would be at the bottom of the SLIAC for sure.

I'm not trying to defend Knox. I know they're bad and the usually are. But, I don't know if Iowa Wesleyan will win a game this year.

Yes.. Hope takes Greenville 139-129... no boxscore yet.. anxious to see if the game was reasonably close or if Hope was in control and not threatened.. Greenville starts 0-3, but the competition has been pretty good... still a legit No. 1 in the conference, but Webster seems like they could be a major threat....

Greenville was up 68-61 at the half, and led 98-88 midway second half. Hope went to a zone defense which really seemed to cause issues for Greenville and let Hope go on a 44-22 run.
