Once upon a time, we would've described that as the most Caltech thing we'd ever seen.

Defiance is 0-8. A home game against the Yellow Jackets is about as easy a non-con game as a SLIAC team can hope to get.

Greg, you forget, we are talking about the SLIAC. SPALDING misses the front end of several one and ones in the last minute, Defiance scores at the buzzer to win....   UGH

So one more team off your wi less list.

Just noticed that MacMurray plays ODAC member Hampden-Sydney in the Music City Classic on 12/30. Hampden-Sydney was once a top of the pack ODAC team but has been inconsistent the past few seasons and is 4-4 right now with three of the losses by 20+ points. I think this is a game for SLIAC fans to keep an eye on.

Just a crazy box score for Prin vs Caltech

Paulson (30) and Goodman (32) score 62 of Prin's 72 points

How to rate Goodman's game... can't win with him, can't win without him..
Goodman 12/18 from field, 32 points, 19 rebounds, 3 assts, 3 steals

BUT.  8/17 from the line... 8 Turnovers.. why?????
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

Kobe Wands great game for Westmin earns SLIAC.ORG Player of the week...   I had gone with Greenville's Eric Williams.

Well.....it's worthy of good discussion

Its an interesting league with a System team because Batemen who shot 8-10 from three (9-12 from the field) en route to 26 points .  I know it a System game, but dang...take two other SLIAC teams and an 8-10 performance would surely make you a shoe-in for the award.

Principia and Caltech went to overtime, so I tuned in.  Prin had the ball with just a second or less on the clock, down two.  They executed a difficult inbounds play that got Goodman essentially an alley-oop to tie - only to have one of their own guys jump up, trying to play the ball, and knock it away.

All I could think: That was the most Principia thing I've ever seen.
I was wondering what the hell happen on that play.🤔

Very frustrating, especially for a fantasy leaguer. Even if he only shoots 76% from the line, that's 13-17. He gets 2 TOs like everyone else, instead of 8, that's a difference from a 50-pt fantasy league performance to a 40-point fantasy league performance.

SLIAC.org seems to be going with high scoring in their Player of the Week selection... I've been looking at a little more.. rebounds, assists, steals turnovers, shooting %... it generates different results... Bateman had a great shooting game as you mentioned, but did little else in that game...he had similar results vs Dominican that week... my pick Eric Williams had big numbers in rebounds and steals in those games too, along with points...

I agree with you on this one. It's not just about scoring 25 points a game. How about the "hustle" stats? Rebounds, assists, steals etc.

It definitely should be more about the overall game.

I am not sure anyone would question that.

I was not arguing the decision.

My point and I'll change the example for clarity: if a WIAC player goes 8-10 from three point range and 9-12 from the field, they will be the player of the week, no question.

Greek Tragedy

It's possible. But he wasn't even the top scorer in the game, let alone his own team. I'm taking a guy who goes for 20 pts, 12 rebs and 8 assists over a guy who goes for 8-10 from 3.

Another tough day for the SLIAC today...as expected

BC loses to Centre down in Memphis, Fontbonne travels to Florida and gets kicked by NAIA John Brown.  Things won't get better tonight when MacMurray plays D2 Quincy and Prin plays unbeaten Occidental.

Just noticed possible great scheduling by SLIAC.

The two leaders of the pack, Webster and Greenville, don't meet until the final game of each of the conference halves. Would be some fun if both took 8-0 conference records into that first matchup. Unlikely, but it could happen....then, if they continued winning ways, and both finished with one conference loss, quite the excitement for the conference tourney!!!  I have always been a proponent for a neutral conference tourney site and always been shot down.  This would be totally justifiable if a GC/ WU tie with 1 loss occurred.

The problems with a neutral conference tourney site are attendance and revenue. You'll always get better attendance if you hold it in the gym of the top seed, unless the top seed is one of the geographic outliers (Spalding and Iowa Wesleyan) where none of the fans of the other team(s) will travel. And, unless you hold the tourney in one of the league's other gyms (and that school agrees to host it without making the conference pay an arm and a leg for the costs involved), you'll find that the costs incurred by renting a neutral site won't be covered by ticket revenues.
