Wow... I'm shocked..... Let's play!!!!!   However, I do wonder how this game is getting around the Sept. 23 announcement from the SLIAC that postponed all athletic competition to after Jan.1
"The St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Council of Presidents has announced the postponement of all SLIAC winter sports competitions until no sooner than January 1, 2021. "

I wonder if this changed???   Or is Greenville bucking the SLIAC???

Personally, I think it's a very bad decision by Greenville... I believe I saw that this past week was the highest weekly number of new reported cases across the USA yet.... Nov 25 is the day before Thanksgiving.... is it really worth it to travel with great trepidation to Alabama for an exhibition game that will likely have limited fans, if any, when the conference season won't begin until 3 months later?  Travel 30 minutes and play a local D2 if you want to play "up"...

To me, 0 sense at all, GIVEN THE CURRENT STATE OF AFFAIRS...

The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

I'm guessing that the SLIAC presidents' council decision might only apply to conference competition. The GU president would be part of that decision making. If the agreement/decision expressly prohibited any conference team from playing against any other outside competition before Jan 1st then Coach Barber would be going against that. I suppose it's all in the wording and whether or not there were signatures on a document or just the agreed upon announcement you quoted. The wording "postponement of all SLIAC winter sports competitions until no sooner than January 1, 2021" leaves some wiggle room. In any case, I agree that it's not the wisest decision to play this game.

Correct - it only applies to conference competition. Unlike the SUNYAC, MASCAC, and CUNYAC, conference decisions don't have overarching impacts on individual schools. Institutions are able to do what they want as long as they meet school, local, state, federal, and NCAA rules. No non-state/city conference has told schools they cannot compete ... though there are some I'm hearing rumors might, but that is a different kettle of fish.

Greenville currently has Stamford on the schedule today and then a tournament over the weekend in Kansas City with a couple of other D1 programs as possible opponents.

Hosted by an NAIA school which does not appear to be playing in the tournament.

By the looks of the release, it appears that Greenville will play UMKC and the winner/loser of Southeast Missouri and Northern Colorado.  Attendance is limited to 312 spectators.  They will have a live stream according to the release: https://www.avilaathletics.com/article/2438

GU lost the turnover battle by 20. 28-8.
GU got a bunch of offensive rebounds. Only lost rebounds by 8.

Kenneth Cooley (jr transfer) and Kaidyn Johnson (freshman) look to be VERY good additions.
