UMKC expected to open the 4 team tourney playing against host team Avila  (on UMKC's web site introducing their season schedule released Nov.21).
Avila then reports on Nov. 23 that due to NCAA Guidelines, their Men's team had to pull out.... while they didn't say it, one can only assume they had a positive test....  Enter Greenville....   note their game is at 5:00 eastern, 4 Central.....

Gotta feel for GU players ... Alabama Wednesday night, KC Friday afternoon, with Thanksgiving  day in between.... if they took a bus to Samford, it's probably an 8 hour trip....   Greenville to KC is another 4 and a half hours.... tough couple of days

UMKC beat NAIA Culver Stockton 105-35 the other night...  wonder what Vegas would give GU on the point spread vs UMKC???

Firstly, no one is putting an over under or a line  on the GU games that I can see. But, I'm not a gambler so I don't have accounts with the sites out there.   Someone may be able to see more than me.

As for a tough travel schedule,  GU is now playing on Sunday at Murray State in KY.  AL to MO to KY .  That'll make for a pretty crazy 5 day swing.

You gotta be kidding me...
That would seem to command D3hoops coverage in the form of an interview with Coach Barber.... asking tough questions....

I would bet money that thr Greenville players are happy to go anywhere at anytime if it means playing.

UMKC 138  Greenville 97

Greenville's Saturday game is cancelled as Northern Colorado had positive tests
UMKC will play SEMO, Greenville will not play a second game.

And no, Bateman did not play....

I am told there were some suspensions from the school side of things. Details I am not in a position to say.

Not sure this is a Greenville thing ... I think there are programs around the country that have students who sometimes don't make the right choices. It is part of evolving and growing up, right? Not sure why this is "another black mark" for Greenville.

Dave... sorry.... I thought you were referencing the last remark I made which was about the absence of Greenville's Marvin Bateman by responding there were suspensions...  which is why I made my remark...  so just a misunderstanding....

I wonder if Greenville took a few of these d1 games to run out the suspensions?  If it's going to be conference play only this year, you want to have as many guys as possible, right?

So Dave is referencing suspensions of Greenville players as to why Marvin Bateman didn't play???
Is that correct?

GUs very high standard of conduct (zero alcohol for example) and suspensions related to same are not uncommon.  And I can assure you that the coaching staff will not be discussing it with any specificity, if at all.  Of course, presuming that is what it is.

As for scheduling games to burn off a few player suspensions, that'd be very surprising. I think it's much more likely that the team wants to get in games to speed up the new guys.  They are training a bunch of new system guys. Or maybe just to play basketball as these guys want to play and the only games going are these types of games.
