And this Thanksgiving I'm glad Temetrius Jamel Morant didn't hang around for his senior year.

So Dave is referencing suspensions of Greenville players as to why Marvin Bateman didn't play???
Is that correct?

I don't think he made that connection.  He simply said he thought there had been suspensions at Greenville - you've got to draw your own conclusions after that.

Obviously a slow news day when someone sees a post on a mostly anonymous discussion board regarding a team that is not going to be playing meaningful games until mid-February and thinks oh, I better text the coach!  2020!

Greenville University is taking part in a University of Illinois research study.  U of I is testing GU's whole campus this first semester for free.

This what is allowing GU to play so many games right now.

GU will have to start paying for testing after this month.

I wonder if Greenville took a few of these d1 games to run out the suspensions?  If it's going to be conference play only this year, you want to have as many guys as possible, right?

No - I don't believe they are trying to run out the suspensions. As I read into it, they scheduled games (and are still scheduling) and the suspensions were also handed down. I am not sure which happened first - games and then suspensions or vis versa (I didn't ask).

These 170 point games are kind of becoming a fun thing for the D1 teams.  I wonder how many calls George is fielding for open dates these days?  They might be able to build up a nice little nest egg in the MBB budget after this year.

In addition to the money the free marketing has to be worth something for the school generally. I bet social impressions are way up. Even when said tongue-in-cheek, barstool sports saying "America's team" has some value to it.  The craziness of this whole thing feels like it should end with SVP doing a "one 'big' thing" interview with Dr. Barber by the end of the week.

This is unquestionably true.

"They're one of the few teams in our state that is testing. You have to test three days a week in order to play Division I teams," said ISU head coach Dan Muller. "They sent an email out to us, and I'm sure to teams across the state, saying they're testing three days a week and will play anytime, anywhere. We reached out to them a week ago."
