Fontbonne beats Webster again... Cody McKinney 17 points off the bench.... Coach and Denny are smiling from above over this one...

And as I've said... the conference tourney is truly any team's to take..
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

unhappy to inform... the Spalding site is showing their remaining two conference games (Fontbonne, at Westminster) as cancelled... also showing an appearance in the conference tourney as cancelled....
Can only assume another Covid situation... hoping everyone is ok..

This will reduce the conference tourney to 7 teams if all remaining participate.... BC or EC in line to get a first round bye....

In related news, GU announced that it is a Green campus yesterday.  Zero Covid campus wide.

I feel very bad anyone who is dealing with COVID, so my hope is that Spalding just decided that the compliance, testing, etc., was just not worth the investment and commitment for the balance of this men's basketball season.

WUPHF

As for dealing with Covid-19...

Eureka has called off the season due to Covid-19.

Just one day away from the big game against one loss Blackburn.

Tonight's GU @ IWU game appears to be canceled.

All four games scheduled for today are either postponed or cancelled.

I suspect that the games for the six teams that are still playing which are delayed or cancelled today are due to contact tracing relating back to the Eureka and Spalding.  Testing will reveal if transmission occurred which would then dictate whether or not the games this weekend will be played as scheduled.

From the SLIAC:

3 Saturday games are still on
FU-IWU
BC-GU
WU-WC

Tourney still on   6 team    3-6, 4-5 Tuesday

Keeping my fingers crossed it all works out.....

Very interesting HOPE.  Great reporting.

Blackburn is the #1

GU and WU sparring for the #2.
GU wins and WU loses, GU is #2 and WU #3
WU wins and GU loses, WU is #2 and GU #3
GU wins and WU wins, I think that GU is #2 and WU is #3 (I think that GU's 1 and 1 v. Blackburn would be deemed a better "record v teams in descending order" than would WU'  0 and 1 v. Blackburn.
GU loses and WU loses, I think that WU would be #2 and GU would be #3.  (I think that WU's 0 - 1 would be deemed a better "record v teams in descending order" than GU's 0 - 2 v. Blackburn.

Interesting schedule comparison notes for these two teams.
- WU did play FU twice, but only one of them was deemed a conference game.  The game that did not count for the conference record was the Webster lost to Fontbonne by 37.
- GU and WUs schedule are essentially the same with only one difference.  WU will play current last place Westmin 2x while GU will play 1st place Blackburn 2x.

The difference between second and third is pretty big given that there is a Bye at stake.  It will be interesting to see how this is handled by the league.

The winner of the Fontbonne v. IWU game should be the #4 seed and the loser the #5.

Westmin should be the #6 regardless.  It is possible that there is a tie in the win line, but Westmin has many more losses than Fontbonne.

WUPHF

Random thought: with an unprecedented number of players entering the transfer portal and seniors choosing to play for an additional year, it will be interesting to see if a SLIAC team or teams end up with game changing transfers.

Also, good work on the seeding break down.

hopefan

Note..    Blackburn lock for top seed
                Westminster lock for bottom seed

Yet when they played, Blackburn makes 3 point shot with 12 seconds left to go up 1....Westmin misses game winning shot....

ANYONE could win this tourney.....

Greenville @ Blackburn is now cancelled.  Will GU or Blackburn's season also end early?

Too bad... I'll be curious if their was a decision (since I heard from the SLiAC office) to shut things down, or if FU-IWU  and WC-WU are still on....we will find out shortly

Yep.... two teams on the floor at Fontbonne

IWU @ Webster (line WU -5.5)
first meeting Webster won by 11

Webster rolls tonight after being upset last weekend.  Coach Bunch is a great tourney coach and will have the Gorlocks ready for IWUs last SLIAC men's basketball game.

Westminster @ Fontbonne (line Westmin - 3)
first meeting Westmin won by 10

The season for Westminster which started and ended with a W's over the St. Louis schools will not end tonight.

GU1999

😳😳😳😳😳 looks like the odds maker was wayyy off.

IWU and Fontbonne are rolling.
