Note, the win over Webster is Mo Bap's only win of the season....

Missouri Baptist is 7-7.

Strange things appear in one's mind when you reach my age.... ;D   Don't ask me where I got that 1 win thought from!!!

Thanks for the correction!!

Not that it matters, but Mo Bap lists their record as 8 and 4.  Their schedule says that they have played, and been defeated in, 3 exhibition games.

All that to say, this win for Fontbonne keeps getting better with each post on the SLIAC board!

WUPHF

Missouri Baptist is 7-7 according to the data upload to Massey Ratings.

It is a shame that there is not more to discuss regarding the SLIAC, but maybe when everyone is playing conference games.

I would reword to say there is plenty to discuss, just no one to discuss it...

Hats off to Greenville... a sign that they will be very competitive within the SLIAC... staying with Wisconsin-Stout the whole game and eventually losing close... Stout has started off 8-2, likely their best start in many many years.  One of their losses is to Wisconsin Whitewater, Greenville' opponent tonight...

The SLIAC race (to me, far away) seems totally wide open... any team could claim a SLIAC conference tourney spot.....

WISH I WAS THERE...

ULTRA-Rare SLIAC occasion this coming Friday afternoon, Dec 31..... 4 non conference games involving SLIAC teams, all being played in St Louis

start the SLIAC fest at 2:00 by seeing the first half of Eureka at UMSL (U Missouri St Louis)

Leave that game at half and drive down to Wash U to see the second half of Westminster at Wash U... a 15 minute drive, perfect for half time

When that game is over, get in the car for a minute or two to go down to Fontbonne, where you'll catch the 2nd half of the Griffs hosting Rose Hulman.

Finish up your SLIAC odyssey going 1 mile over to Webster to watch the 5:00 game between Webster and Monmouth

A great way to bring in the New Year...

Hopefan will likely watch on the internet!!!!!

And incidentally.....   HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!

WUPHF

Eureka at UMSL has been called off.
Westminster at Washington University is closed for fans.
Covid is the worst.

And it gets worse... Fontbonne games tonight and tomorrow night are cancelled... vs Monmouth and Rose Hulman....Webster games still show as being on....

^^^ Must be a COVID issue with Fontbonne. Since the Webster/Monmouth game is scheduled for 4 p.m. tomorrow, I'm guessing it might be moved up to the 2 p.m. slot. Any fans thinking about going would be wise to check the schedule.

Webster vs Monmouth tomorrow (Fri 12/31) is now scheduled for 2p.m.

After a very slow start to the non-conference season, the SLIAC really bounced back.  After looking at the wins, I have graded the following as the FOUR best non-conference wins of the early season:

#4) Westminster over Buena Vista:  Westminster won by three (70 - 67) on a neutral site in St. Louis.  This game may not seem to be such a great win because Buena Vista is below .500 on the season, but they have scheduled very hard.  Of their 8 losses on the season, Massy has 5 of those opponents in the top 25.  Massey has BV at 106 in d3.  This is a very good win for Westminster.

#3) Greenville over North Park: Greenville won by 2 on a last second 3-pointer (119-117).  Greenville's only win of the season came at home against an NPU squad who is off to a very good start.  NPU is 7-3 overall (CCIW 3-0) with wins over Carthage, #7 Elmhurst and Augustana.  Yesterday, they handled Eureka by 23 on the road.  Coach Slyder's Vikings are much better than the NPU squad GU beat by 40 in Chicago a few year ago.

QUITE A BIG GAP BETWEEN 3# and #2

#2) Webster over WashU:  This was a HUGE win.  Webster won by 12, (72-60) Great for the league and really a quality game for Webster.  Webster, to date, is the only team that has beaten WashU.  WashU is a top5 team nationally and they have a significant resume win with their ten point win over IL Wesleyan.

EVER SO CLOSE BETWEEN #2 and #1 (it could have gone the other way as I think that some would say WashU is a better team the Mo. Bap.)

#1) Fontbonne over Mo. Baptist:  Missouri Baptist (NAIA) is a really good team and Fontbonne simply dismantled them at home (94-80).  The funny-bone had 6 players in double figures and had a shooting slash of 54/50/76.  SLIAC teams rarely shoot the ball this well against significantly larger and more athletic teams like the Mo. Baptists of the world.  Anyway, it was a huge surprise and a really nice outcome for the SLIAC.

Great writeup GU ... perfect timing as we enter conference season...   +++

Prin shows they are for real... 128-119 win at Greenville.... for 6 or 7 Prin players to keep up that pace was admirable.

Brantingham got the points but the difference maker was clearly AJ Byrd....
