Blackburn SID  -  what's your impression of Howard?   He's had some big number games, but as witnessed with the Westmin game stats, at other times he hardly shows up?   What do you think?

Howard is a great athlete, he still has things to learn and with a little help from the players around him could turn into an all-conference player. His only problem is ball movement, when Howard is on the floor BC turns into an immediate offense. WIth no ball movement and a fluid movement from side-to-side they turn to taking shots in not the best situation.  The decrease in stats is strictly this, when Leotis steps on the floor there is an immediate double-team or over precautious defense to his side, which is deserved due to his ability to score points as seen in the first couple games of the season. That would be my guess of why hes not on the floor starting every game. If Zeb or Allan could get hot to force defenses to stay honest, All three of them could have amazing years, but the trouble still is to get two or all three of them on the same page in the same game. If all three of these guys were to get hot at the same time, I would easily call them the best 3-man set of the SLIAC. This is not a "Talk Up" and I am curious what others think of him as well.

I'll take Fogerty, White and Branch. I beleive they are all in the top 15, conference only, in scoring. In a three man set, that gives me a post, a 3 man and a guard.

Per SLIAC website (stats don't include 3 MacMurray games):

Point - Coleman (12th ppg, 1st assists, 14th steals, 1st 3pt fg%, 9th ast/to margin)
3Man - Greene (24th ppg, 7th reb, 5th stls, 15th blks, 6th ft%)
Post - Robertson (7th ppg, 2nd reb, 6th blks, 1st fg%)

As far as a three-man set goes, not a bad Gus Macker entry.....

When you consider the entire game at both ends of the floor, these young men have had a very, very good year.

FU made a big move in the Massey Rating. But, when your that low there is only one way to go.

Eureka 72, Prin 56

This was Eureka's first game decided by more tan 12 points this season. Tarpley did not play in the frist half and Peffer played just 7 minutes total. Those are Eureka's top 2 scorers. Tarpley still wound up with 17 points. Richard had a much improved game with 15 and McComb continues to have a hot hand with 19. EC led 47-24 in rebounds. This was a very physical game. Devils shot 50% in second half despite 0-8 on threes.

Clough hit 4 threes in the game and Prin hit 5 in the 1st half to stay within 7 at halftime. Prin must have had a great game to beat Lincoln by 34 because Lincoln has considerably more talent.

Maybe some of you followed along with Prin's live stats online. I had the opportunity to chat with a few people responsible for the program. It provides some interesting stats you don't normally get at the college level. There seems to be a few issues with it converting to the stats program almost everyone else in NCAA uses though. From fans I've talked to, they really seem to like having free live stats available online as opposed to what the Midwest Conference is doing with selling a video and audio feed of all conference games for a small fee. Principia's live stats go above and beyond what most schools that provide live stats (such as Millikin) give.

4 down, 1 more 3+ hour road trip left...

Hope, FCnews....any predictions for tonite??? Heard they are doing a raffle at halftime for some free pizza! I'm there!!!

hopefan

I was just thinking about games tonight -  Pride, News, Yjak, Hopefan all likely to be there for MU vs FU -  any pizza winnings get split between the 4 of us!!!

The game at Fontbonne tonite should be a win for the Grifs - you know, when I look at individual matchups, it's really very close
McCoy vs McCoy is reasonable, Saxton could give Branch fits, Bollinger or Holland is a good match for Storandt, and Steinke could defend Fogarty reasonably well.  White has an advantage over whoever else plays.
BUT  -  Maryville just cannot shoot the ball this year - While I think MU will make FU work hard, I think it's an FU win.  I also think this game should provide an opportunity for FU to get the new faces we've been hearing about some minutes on the court -  if these guys are capable as FCnews says, they need minutes of experience to prep them for situations in the 2nd half of the league season.

The huge game tonight is Greenville vs Westmin - injuries or not, this is nearing must win time for Westmin - to finish the first half at 4-5 is a killer.

AND Blackburn faces the same situation at LCC - if they have any chance to be a factor in the conf playoff race, they can's afford to be LCC's first conference victim tonight.
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

So, looking at Greenville who does everyone think are there biggest assets and players with the best all around game?

fcnews

Sorry guys the Pizza give away is a student body thing. Even though Hope could pass as a fifth year senior.

Welcome Panther2 - When I think of GC it is probably the best example of a team effort. Good team speed and intensity.

From the one game I saw, Simmons really played well, especially down the stretch. At first glance, he doesn't appear to be an athlete - but he is. The fact that he drove to the basket practically unguarded certainly helped his effort against the Highlanders, but he made the plays when he needed to, and that's all that matters. Conquest and Taylor are tough kids, play hard, and can hurt you if not guarded closely. Even though Ellis lit us (and some other teams) up, he looked like a one diminsional player when I saw him. For his size, he would appear to be a rugged rebounder - but when he played MacMurray, he played most of the time about 15-20 feet from the basket and rarely went into the lane. Maybe that was a one-time thing. But he can flat out shoot, if unguarded. Teams that want to beat Greenville will have to concentrate on contesting every shot, closing out shooters, and rotating quickly with the ball - and stopping the dribble penetration. These are the things MacMurray didn't do in their first meeting and will have to correct if they hope to beat the Panthers when they come calling in a couple of weeks..
