Will anyone be in attendance at the Blackburn-Greenville game this Saturday? I know their will be some Crazies making an apperance at the game trying to give our Beavers some support!
Go Beavers!

sorry dynasty, I'm going on up the road to see Mac - Webster  -   You know how much I enjoyed BC hoops last year - I've been rooting hard for the Beavz, but Zak and Zeb are going to have to go into overdrive to get the team into the playoffs  -  If they do, that pushes TWO of the top 5 out (Font, Eureka, Mac, GC, and Webster) -it's going to be a real challenge.  As I mentioned before, tonite is a crucial night for the two fence sitters - BC and Westmin - wins keep you in the hunt, losses make for probably too many wins needed in the 2nd half of the conference.
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

I will miss my first home game in 5 years due to a track meet.  But, I can garuntee that the Panther Faithful will also be out in force.  Big game for Greenville as we start Rd. 2 of the SLIAC Fight!

Mac Attack

Pride, I hope it's an indoor meet or you better stock up on long underwear.

Pride's courtside presence is worth 5-10 points for the Panthers at home (I'm not kidding). This is like losing a key starter - can Greenville overcome Pride's absence? How is your coach feeling? Hard to imagine GC without their head coach AND Pride.

QuoteEven though Ellis lit us (and some other teams) up, he looked like a one diminsional player when I saw him. For his size, he would appear to be a rugged rebounder - but when he played MacMurray, he played most of the time about 15-20 feet from the basket and rarely went into the lane. Maybe that was a one-time thing. But he can flat out shoot, if unguarded.

Ellis can flat out shoot, he puts alot of practice into his shooting and has greatly improved since I have been watching him. I don't know if I would go as far to say that he is a one dimensional player because he is bringing more to the court than just his shooting. But,  he does still have improvements to make, everybody does, and is working on his game constantly.

My prediction for tonight would be a close game with Greenville still coming away with the win. They will have to limit Davis's all-around play in order to ensure it.

Coach Barber is better.  It was the 24-Hr bug.  His entire family had got the bug sometime throughout the weekend. And Coach has a large family.  So, it was a long week for the Barber family, but they are all better now.

As for me... I have heard the 5-10 point deal about me.  I don't like to get into that stuff.  I just have always been about the crowd cheering at games.  In high school when I announced, I had a wireless mic and I'd go to the crowd and announce while cheering the team on.  Occasionally I went to center floor to announce the line-ups.  I had some fun times in high school... even though our teams always sucked!!!

Thanks for the kids words about me.  I hope my loss doesn't keep my boys from winning tonight and the rest of the season.

Kind of funny, following reading some of the post again, I checked to make sure there was nothing going on in our gym the weekend of the SLIAC Tourney because our volleyball coach and soccer has tourneys all the time when we aren't at home.  There is a soccer tournament scheduled for that weekend.  But, I got it all cleared up in case GC host.

I think if we host, I will set up a hospitality room for D3hoops.com posters!  I'll set it up in my office which overlooks the gym! :) lol

any updates on how the game actually went since i was able to get there

Mac Attack

Fontbonne, Eureka, Greenville, and Webster - all 6-3, one game behind MacMurray. If Blackburn wins tonight at LCC, they and Westminster both at 5-4. Looks like the race is wide open heading into the second half of the season. Huge win tonight for Westminster, and Greenville has now lost three straight - all on the road. Maryville gave Fontbonne a run for their money, which means the Saints won't be an easy out for anybody, home or away. Put your seatbelts on - this is going to be some kind of a ride.

Not sure on game details.  I got a phone call from assistant coach Rod Tucker and talked with coach Barber, but it was on the girls game.  We had a girl, #20 Megan Reddell hit the floor hard and broke a tooth, and cut her head.  So, we didn't get to talk much about the game.

For those who follow the women, GC d. Westminster 80-78.  It was a George Barber type of comeback with the ladies being down 12 with 8 mins to go and won.  More details over on the ladies board.

GC has got to get things going again.  Blackburn is a must win for my boys!

LCC beats Blackburn for their first SLIAC win, 89-78   -  the coffin is just about closed on last year's regular season champs..

How has not won more games? Hats off to the Saints. Limited by number of shooters, but they play very scrappy. MU shot well the first half from three's, then chilled to 2-10 in the second. Holland had a real coming out party. This might spark the saints for a couple more big wins. Trevor White carried the Grifs in the first half and Fogerty only missed one shot in the second half. The two teams combined for just 20 FTA for the game. I had absolutly no complaints with this crew. Kudos to the zebra's.

I do wish Fogerty received a little more respect. I guess he needs to prove himself this year. Lovette got his first varsity clock. For a 31 yr. old this has got to be a dream come true for this kid. Had 3 blks. in 6 minutes playing time.

No suprise from LCC!!! Congrats Preachers

Pride stay away from all sharp objects.

Westminster wins.  Close one.  Up one at half.   Led most of the way the second until Greenville started fouling with 3 mins left.  WC hit FT's to seal it.  Buxton played some in each half which even if he isnt 100% gives some mental edge.  Right now I have to think either MU or GC isnt going to make it into the conf. playoffs.  Call me crazy but I think one of these two is going to slow during the stretch.  I honestly think that overall BU and WC are both better than MU and GC but only time will tell, since these two started off so hot.  Anyway its so close I dont know what to think but at least WC is coming out of their injury/sickness slump some and should be able to handle Prin Saturday and then we will see where they stand the next week.
