I think if BC could get better post play out of Smith and lamsargis, meaning better shots and a couple more rebounds, BC could try to turn things around, but is it to late?

Nice win for the Griffins last night.....even though it wasn't their prettiest ever, like FC said, a win is a win.  It was nice to see Zach Dill log some minutes last night.  He defiently didn't dissapoint.  What happened with White last night could be a good thing for the ball club in the long run.  Number one, it showed that they can still win without him (don't get me wrong, I think Trevor is a great player) and number two, it shows that Coach Mckinney isn't going to take any lip off of anyone, that is a good thing for a coach to do, especially with a young team in my opinion.  Greenville just looked flat to me, especially in the second half.  It happens though.  Hopefully they can pull it back together here before it is too late.

Also, it was nice seeing Hopefan and also meeting PantherPride.......sorry we didn't get to talk much, that pizza was the first thing on everyone's mind I believe.

The White incident is yesterdays news. Anybody that has played for Coach McKinney will tell you, that he doesn't let these kind of things linger. Take care of it now, let's resolve the issue and tommorrow is a new day.

Yes it was to show this young team that no one player is above the team. With a team this young it will happen. Trevor has potential to be a great one in the SLIAC. But, it has to come within Coach's system.

Westminister has 3 games in 6 days. They have big games with WU and MC before hosting FU nest Tuesday. WC needs to step up before things get away. A couple of losses here and the standings could change.

BunchTime

FC...I agree with you completely.  Teach a lesson and then move on and I am sure that is how Coach McKinney will approach it.  I agree with hopefan too, kudos to that kind of coaching!  It is easy for coach's today, which I resent, to dismiss a player's behavior or attitude simply because his talent trumps the behavior.

Moving on...some good games tomorrow and many more critical games looming ahead too!  Should be fun!

ballhog01

I bet it's the last time that kid pulls that. Coach McKinney is all about mutual respect. Way to go Coach!!! Keep up the good work. FU is just a game out of first. That's one team I wouldn't want to play right now. Huge game last night for Fogerty. I know by the roster that this player is from Winfield, MO. Where was he last year?

the godfather

Hope, I havent been able to talk to anyone from WC to see who is available for the game tomorrow night, hopefully mostly everyone back but I guess we wont know until we see who steps on the floor and the box score comes out.  most games out of there between these two are classic, ranging back a number of years, hopefully the same tomorrow.  last time i said that fontbonne handled WC so i hope im not a jinx.  go jays!

quick question...since Im a new poster im not familiar with the karma but i realized since last night ive received a negative 1.  just curious how that changes, is it done by other posters because they arent happy with something you said, done by d3hoops website or what is the case?  just curious, doesnt really hurt my feelings.  thanks

the godfather

ok so now who brought it back up to one?  we have some sly posters on the sliac board... ;D

hopefan

Yjak  -  my better half is coming along tonight  -  I have to buy her supper first though   :D-  Godfather - will you be at tonite's game? If so please introduce yourself - look for a Hope College baseball hat!

Regarding Karma - Posters give it, and you have to have made at least 100 posts to be eligible to award it - someone gave everyone in the room a negative yesterday (including me   :'( ).  I try to award it on rare occasions to make it real, but others use it for their own bemusement.

Tonight's game should be a good one -IF
Westminster is healthy
Davis comes to play
The officials let Hoggit and Davis bang underneath - two solid bodies.

If Westminster shows they're still a force, I'm looking forward to going to Fulton on Saturday to West and Mac!!!!

Well, another must-win game for the Panthers of Greenville.  Someone mentioned that the Greenville-Fontbonne game wasn't a must win.  After looking at the standings now, I still feel it was and this is an even bigger game.  Starting 6-0 and going 0-5 after, it's just painful and I know the boys are really trying to find a way to shake this cold the Panthers are in.

Anyone here making the trek up I-70 to Greenville?  I know it's not an appeling game but seeing who may be heading up.

A better match-up may be the 8:00 game with the Lady Panthers (Just knocking off #2 Fontbonne) and looking to stap the 50+ game SLIAC win Streak..

Mac Attack

Just for the heck of it, I boiled down the SLIAC stats to see which players - considering all 13 categories listed on the SLIAC site and using conference only stats - were contributing the most in all facets of the game. Of course this doesn't take into account such intangibles as leadership qualities, effort, attitude, and most importantly, defense - but it's all we have to go on. Based on the listed   numbers to date and knowing that some schools do not have all of their conference stats listed, here's the results. I took the players who were listed in the most categories and placed them first, then ranked them based on their numbers - i.e. if a player was first in scoring, he got one point; 12th in assists, he got 12 points. The players with the fewest "points" were ranked the highest. There were five players who were ranked in eight of the 13 categories; two players ranked in seven of the 13 categories; and 12 players ranked in six categories.  Based purely on "the numbers," here's the SLIAC "94 Foot Team" as of February 1:

First Team
Whalum (MC) - 8 categories, 63 points
Tarpley (EC) - 8 caegories, 67.5 points
Allen (BC) - 8 categories, 74 points
McComb (EC) - 8 categories, 84 points
Simmons (GC) - 8 categories, 88 points

Second Team
Coleman (MC) - 7 categories, 52 points
Greene (MC) - 7 categories, 76.5 points
Hammond (BC) - 6 categories, 20.5 points
Robertson (MC) - 6 categories, 22.5 points
Hoggett (WU) - 6 categories, 35.5 points

Third Team
Fogerty (FU) - 6 categories, 36 points
White (FU) - 6 categories, 43 points
Davis (WC) - 6 categories, 43.5 points
Johnson (PU) 6 categories, 45 points
Saxton (MU) - 6 categories, 48.5 points

Honorable Mention
Conquest (GC) - 6 categories, 50.5 points
Holland (MU) 6 categories, 51 points
McCoy (FU) - 6 categories, 53.5 points
Taylor (GC) - 6 categories, 69 points

I'll do this again at the end of next week. Should have more conference stats listed. But it's interesting to see which players are contributing in the most ways, which is really the kind of players you need to be successful. Of course this doesn't take into account a player who may have dominating stats in two or three categories - but it does give us a snapshot of which players are doing the most work, baseline to baseline.

So players ranked in the most catagories automaticly come out the highest - well, it is a measure, though I'm not sure it really accomplishes what your'e setting out to do because there is no penalty for doing something REALLY BAD except for losing a catagory point.   But then losing a catagory point is huge  - not bad Mac

I'd be more inclined to go at it inversely to how you're doing it

10 points for a top finish, 9 for second, down to 1 for 10th  -  big men would rack up on rebound catagories, guards woud rack up on assists catagories

just tried it my way  -  all over the place   -
