Guys the expenses of hosting at a nuetral site are to cost prohibative for a conference like this. Plus, they want to keep it on campus for that college feel. I do agree that win it comes to the Championship game, the higher seed should host. Just to avoid what happen last year.

FC  I would disagree on that - there would only be a half day turn around to change sites from the Friday nite semis to the Saturday afternoon finals  -  tough to get everything set up in that short of a time, especially if semis were south or west and a nothern school then won to host the finals or vice versa.

Hope I'm just sayin, this is how it's been done in the pass. Back in the day of the eight team tourney. I think FC won it at Mac in '96 as the #2 seed and Mac was the #1. Then in, I think, 1998 FC played @GC in a match up of the #5 v. #7. And, I choose to not discuss the out come.

So Hopefan, I see it staying on campus for the near future.

For what it's worth, the ODAC tournamment is held at the same neutral site every year -- the Salem Civic Center -- the same place the men's Final Four has been played for a number of years.

ok back to talking about who has done what so far....

Let's say that of the 6 teams competing for four spots, the teams that will naturally come out on top are those that:
1) Win against the other 5 @ home
2)pull an upset against the other 5 on the road
3) do not lose to the bottom 4 non contending teams.

how do our contenders stack up thus far, with a minus 1 for a loss to the bottom 4, a minus 1 for a loss to any of the contenders at home, and a +1 for a win vs a contender on the road.

It presents a little different view...

@ 0 is :
Eureka  -  won at Font, lost at home to Mac

Mac -  won at EC, won @ Webster, lost @ home to Font, lost @ home to Webster

Webster - Won at Font, Won at Mac, lost at home to Mac, lost vs Blackburn

@ -1 is :
Font  -  won @ Mac, lost @ home to EC, lost @ home to Webster

Greenville  -  lost to Blackburn

@ -2 is :
Westminster - lost to Maryville, lost to Blackburn.

Greenville and Westmin have yet to lose to a contender at home nor beat one on the road, and if that trend continues, they're in bad shape.  Westminster in particular is in tough shape because they only have two more road games to make up for their losses to MU and BC   and one of them is that long trip to Eureka.  Greenville has 3 contenders at home -if they take care of business there, starting tomorrow night vs Webster, they'll still have a shot.

thanks Fc  dogonne D3 hoops sked - so that changes Font to -2, meaning they have to win games on the road against the contenders, and moves Mac to a plus 1, meaning they have 3 home games with contenders that they are supposed to win.  so hopefans analysis says Mac in best shape of anyone right now!!!!!!   Mac Attack, +1 please!!!!!

Funny you guys should mention the SLIAC Commish job being vacant after this year.  I thought about applying just for kicks.  How about it.  PRIDE FOR COMMISH!!!

Na, wishful thinking!

thanks Fc  dogonne D3 hoops sked

What does this refer to -- is there an error? Our site already says Fontbonne beat MacMurray at home.

no it says that Font beat Mac at Mac, which gave Font a point  - but they really won at home at Fontbonne - taking the point away -  Pat, your sked has both games at Mac  - the at Ma game is still to be played

OK, thanks.

Again, perhaps an e-mail in this instance would be more appropriate than griping on a message board.

come on Pat  - you know me as a writer to know that I was not "griping" - Perhaps I could gripe that your response, after telling me that I was wrong (which I admittedly usually am) , and then seeing that I was right, would more appropriately have been, "oops, sorry hopefan, looked at it wrong - I'll get it fixed"   -  ANYONE, you or me,  can be a little sensitive.....

I don't see the non-St. Louis schools agreeing to play the tourney down there every year and I don't see anyone agreeing on a non-St. Louis site either. Also, an off campus site is probably too expensive to rent. Maybe this is how they arrived at the current format?

As far as the expanded field, as a fan I would love it. More playoff basketball is always better. I did stats for the Mid-Con tourney 2 years and had a blast watching 3 full days of college basketball. But since the SLIAC at this point is obviously a 1 bid league, it's best to make sure one of the best teams represents the conference on a national level. So I believe it to be in th best interest of the league to keep the tourney at 4 teams.

Nice work, hopefan. I would not have thought at the beginning of the season a loss to Blackburn would be such a negative, but with them at 5-7, it's hard to argue against it.

I'm trying awfully hard not to be offended at your obvious distaste for Eureka even though I don't believe you've ever been here. ;D We're actually not very far at all from the Peoria area, but you big city cats won't be asked milk any cows at the crack of dawn or anything...I promise!

In the meantime, I was absolutely astounded that Maryville again shot 4 for 24 from 3's in losing close to Eureka.  I see that Frosh Jake Baechle was one for eight, - he's a kid who looks great taking the ball to the basket - why does the Maryville offense make him try to be a 3 point shooter?? Maryville's 3 point %, which was at 28% prior to the last two games, now is likely below 25%

Remember, Eureka SID, I live in Eureka, Mo, which probably is similar in size to Eureka, Il, and we don't even have a nice college  (ugh - instead we have a 6 flags park).    No never anything against small towns -why do you think I'm such a big D3 fan??!!  It's just so far away from "down south"  -  if I drive up, I'll listen to Howard Stern the whole way and my wife says he's a very bad influence on me....    ;D ;D
