Mac and other out of towners  -  as an alternative to yjak's suggestion of the Best Western, you could go about 10 minutes further west on 44 and stay at either a brand new Drury or a brand new Hampton Inn, both at the same Fenton exit.  I offer this up only becaue the Best Wstern is in the old Howard Johnsons, and is quite old -  they may have remodelled and it may be fine, but the two I mention are both less than 2 years old...  easy on/of to rt 44  -  yjak, if I'm wrong about the Best Western, feel free to correct....
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

I would suggest. Getting off at 44 and Hampton Road. Holiday Inn and Red Roof Inn. Lot's of eats on Hampton Rd. and just minutes from Webster U. and Wash U.

Thanks for keeping everyone informed on here about the Eureka/Greenville game, Hopefan. Just a few observations from the game:

With a little more athleticism, Greenville would be much more difficult to handle, especially for Eureka. Even still, GC scored close to 20 points just off of run-outs. They even beat Eureka back off made baskets a couple of times. On the other hand, they went through stretches where the defense (particularly the post defense) was clearly lacking.

Both key plays of the game came off missed free throws. The 1st one came with GC up 2 off a miss by Conquest.  There was a fierce battle for the rebound. It looked like Eureka had it a couple of times and Wildenradt finally got it. During the battle, Greenville lost track of Tarpley, who got ball behind the defense. It was a very hard foul from behind...definitely the hardest I've seen this year. Kudos to the Greenville athletic trainer being quick on the scene and patching him up.  Tarpley didn't get back in the game, but it looked like he could have.

Most of EC's best free throw shooters were already in the game and it's tough anyway to come off the bench and shoot from the line with the season hanging in the balance. After the second missed FT, McComb ran in from outside the 3-point line, got the ball, and made a tough floater to tie it. Hensold's shot to win it was wide open. It was a nice pass out to him as well, though be barely got it off in time.  It looked like to me he was just inside the3-point line, but the stats showed that it was a 3-point try.

In OT, Eureka really executed well on offense to overcome two 3's from Ellis. GC had a few turnovers that really hurt them.

I liked Greenville's gym a lot. I was surprised at how quiet the crowd was, though. There was a good turn out, but they really didn't start making a ton of noise until EC was shooting FT's at the end of regulation to tie it.

It's easy to look past Prin on Tuesday. I find myself doing it often. It will be senior night as well to add another possible distraction. After coming this far, it would be a shame to slip up in a game like this. EC hasn't had many "easy" wins this season. Here's hoping they've saved one for Tuesday, because after 2 nailbiters Saturday (including a 2-pt women's game), I need some recovery time.

Eureka_sid, I will guarntee you that if I was there, it would have been a different situation with the crowd.  Ask fc & hope, I have a way of getting the boys & girls in orange and black to get crazy.

Im still depressed about Saturday, but it over and it's time for the Panthers to move on.  All is not lost. Tuesday's game is a big game still for Greenville.  With a 12-12 record, Greenville must record a win to move onto the NCCAA Regional Championship Tournament, which begins next week.  We will hope for a big win v. Westminster to extend the already great season (comparing to the last two winning 7 and 9 games.)

Wow.  If I read the SLIAC webpace, which I did a couple takes, Greenville still has a decent shot to get it.  We just have to win and hope for Maryville to beat Fontbonne.  I'm not looking for FCNews, Coach McKinney, and the boys not to come out and play, but I'm pulling for Maryville in this one just so we can get in!!!  That put's new life back into me.

I'm starting to get a little excited now!!!

Panther - In that senario you would have FU, WC and GC all tied at 11-7. Tie-breaker is head to head, FU 3-1, GC 2-2, and WC 1-3. That would make FU the #4 seed ( assuming EC beats PC ). Sorry Pride.

Regarding accomodations for the SLIAC tournament: to answer hopefan's question, I know nothing about that Best Western except its location. That's why I put the disclaimer in my post. I'm sure either of the other suggestions (Hampton Road exit -- exit 286 -- off I-44 which is 6 miles east of the Webster U exit #280, or the Fenton exit 10 minutes west of the Webater exit, would be just fine.) There are plenty of places to eat at all three locations.

Sorry Pantherpride, I screwed up. FC News is correct that Greenville's loss Saturday knocked the Panthers out of contention. I was in too big of a hurry to get This Week In The SLIAC done last night. Even if Greenville wins and the other three lose, thereby creating a four way 11-7 tie, the tie-breakers go to Eureka and Fontbonne. I did a three way tie at 11-7 (Fontbonne, Greenville, and Westminster) and forgot about Eureka.

My apology to Greenville players, coaches, and fans who saw it and got their hopes up. It's been fixed.

Thanks Commish. I've been through this so many times I think I'm losing Grey Matter.

I'm looking a best case senarios that have #1 WU, #2 MC, #3 FU, and #4 EC.

This would bring two of our Northern IL. schools into St. Louis for Borders Bragging Rights weekend. 1.) I'd hate to see MC & EC drive hours to face each other. 2.) It might set up a "Third Game Matchup" between WU and FU on Saturday nite for the SLIAC Conference Tourney Championship and a right to go to the Big Dance.

After Tuesday nights results are official. I'll post "MY" list of dining and places to see, for our visitors from the north.
