You are so right Hope. It was extremely well written. Terrence did a great job in the interview. The SLIAC should be proud.

Anyone else get a kick out of Augie getting bounced from the tournament in the 1st round? All this talk about how the CCIW got hosed by only getting one team in the tourney and then its best team bows out at home to the 2nd best team from the MWC. Meanwhile, Grinnell (who finished with a better overall and conf. record than Carroll) and the MWC made little noise about only 1 MWC team making the tourney. I don't mean any harm to Augie or the CCIW, but I love when unhearalded teams stick it to teams from "power conferences."  Congrats to the Pioneers of Carroll. Maybe Sager can update us on what the CCIW's record in the tournament all-time is now. I can help, since I've been keeping track of what really matters...this season...it's 0-1.

Anyway, back to the SLIAC. I don't know much about the Wash U. team. It sounds like Fontbonne will have its hands full. But I'm guessing the Bears have seen few players the likes of White and for sure Lovett  8) (great to see his amazing story be told in Around the Nation). There's a lot to be said about a team peeking at the right time. It appears that Fontbonne is doing that. Probably the 2 biggest factors for that are the youth of the team and veteran coaching. Maybe Fontbonne will pull it out, maybe not. I'll be pulling for them either way. Good luck to the Grffins!

I have to admit that I totally got a kick out of it, and I'm from the CCIW! For some reason all the whining this year really bothered me from all the schools and conferences that wanted more teams in... more than normal. The irony is dripping all over this one! It would be hard not to find it at least somewhat funny... as long as you're not an Augie fan. While I always root for my conference's team in the tourney, and was hoping the CCIW could pull off another title, I thought all season long that it was odd that Augie kept winning... I'm pretty sure that Elmhurst was more talented this year, just couldn't get it done... I still don't know why! But teams that don't get it done stay home, and that's all there is to it.

It's 102-54 (.654) after tonight, including head-to-head games. I knew that you couldn't sleep until I'd posted it. ;)

Other people may have taken Carroll lightly, but none of us who have seen the Pioneers over the past two or three seasons would be among them. Dave Schultz has built a very solid program up in Waukesha, and they deserve the respect of everyone in the Midwest Region. While this is definitely an upset, it's not an inconceivable one.

However, let's not make the mistake of concluding that this unexpected loss by Augie somehow invalidates Elmhurst, or the CCIW in general. Elmhurst was capable of going very deep into the tournament, and Augie's loss doesn't change that -- although, as April said, the blame for the absence of the Bluejays from the tournament rests upon their shoulders and nobody else's. As for the rest of the league, it'll survive a one-and-done tournament. It went 66-22 (.750) in regular season non-conference play, so I doubt that our champ getting bounced out in the first round is going to reduce us to a cupcake circuit.

Wow - in the Post today, the UAA announces it's All Conference teams, and all 4 of Wash U's underclassmen starters are recognized - Ruths and Wallis are 1st Team, Nading is 2nd team, and Thompson is Newcomer of the year.

Just makes Tonite's impending upset by Fontbonne all the sweeter, eh FC?

Well, that's why they play the games, Who would have thought Carrol would beat Augie last night   -   It Can Happen  -  Will look forward to tonight   -  Do I think the Fonts will win tonight -  No      Do I think they have a chance to win tonight  -  YOU BET!!!

Does anyone know if the game between Fontbonne and Wash U has an internet/radio broadcast similar to Webster?  Any information would be appreciated!

Bunch  -  Wash U used to broadcast, but I noticed their little radio bench upstairs has been empty this season - the game is not included on the list on the front page that shows games that are being broadcast   -  unfortunate, it appears it will not be on anywhere.

Hope - You know how tough it is to get on an NCCA sanctioned pass list. Each team is allowed 30, including players cheerleaders and managers. Pride is repping WGRN 98.5 FM the Pride of Greenville. Hope spend a little of that boat stash. LOL

Just went through our 1 hr. walk through at Wash U. What a loose bunch FU appears to be. It must be nice to be young an dumb. Some of the kids actually thought DePaul was in our bracket not Depauw.

I hope the Kids do not disapoint the SLIAC fans. One good thing. It's only 1 blk. from the Clayton Metrolink Station and the Gym.

I still beleive in these Kids!!!!
