Re: Wash U Attendance...

I thought the Wash U Semi-Final had more fans that 1524.  I would have guessed and easy 25-2600 people.  The lower bowl was full with a size-able crowd up top.  While listening to the Wash U radio on Saturday, they mentioned that the attendance reported is only paid attendance at the door.  They also mentioned something about some of the students being paid for by the student union or something of the sorts.  Did anyone hear that or add to this?

Re: The All-Mighty Sager...

Um, not quite sure I deserved the reprimand that Sager put out on his nightly quest to post on every board.  I simply smiled when I seen the post towards fcnews,  ::) rolled my eyes, and then posted something that I though was a little funny.  Obviously I have offended you and now being punished.  :'(

I really don't care Sager if you want to come on here and tell us what's wrong with the SLIAC.  Our schedule is screwed up, the NCAA is messed up and Wash U is mad bc they drew Fontbonne....   Thank you for your interest. Who am I to tell you that you can't post or can't put your two cents in.  However, if you are this mission to make everything better, there are a few things you can do.  Write your congressman or woman (being politically correct...  you may have brought that one up too.)  The SLIAC Commish position is going to be vacant.  Apply for it. (however, I'd leave the conference if you were to get the position.)

Hey, I really don't care about all this.  My feathers are not ruffled and I'm not going to storm off.  I'm all about having fun on this board and I have made three good, new friends by it (fcnews, yjack, and hopefan).  Say what you want.  I don't care.

Friday nites games at Wash U, the Fontbonne Athletic Assoc. ( student run campus organization ) did pay for the FU students who attended the tailgate party. The Suprise to me was the SLIAC attendance mark. I was told Webster could seat seat 900 comfortably and packed 1200. I strongly feel like there were as many at the SLIAC semi's as at the game at Wash U. Saturday. The attendance for the MU v. FU game at MU was 400.

Bunchtime - I've got the usual post season blues. Not hanging my head. I sure would of liked to take a shot at either Whitworth or Depauw. All I know is it was a great atmosphere for the Wash U. v. FU game. I know it's the biggest crowd a FU bball team has played in front of, since FU women beat Millikin (@Millikin) on the way to the sweet sixteen in 2001. Our President told the team afterwords that it was the largest student turnout he's seen at any sporting event.

Bunchtime - It was your kind of crowd. The bleachers opposite the benches were packed from one end to the other with students. Probably 60-40 Wash U. Right above the FU student section, in the upper level, you had another 60 in Lacrosse players and baseball. Neither teams student sections sat down all night.

hopefan

And more important, even though several Wash U guys infiltrated the Fontbonne section towards the end of the game, there was no problem - a great D3 atmosphere.  Lots of funny cheers.......I felt sorry for the poor Fontbonne ladies - all of whom had to walk past the Wash U section and be "evaluated" by all the guys -  actually, I think the girls ate all the attention right up!!!
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

The girls definately had my attention all night!

The Ladies, I'm sure, enjoyed the attention. When it's 8 to 1 women on campus, they always will enjoy the attention. I stood the entire game at half court, between the two student sections. Didn't hear one off color comment from either section. One member of the "bomb squad" walked by the FU student section. He had a small sign saying "Some day you'll work for me". He got about five feet and Kate Evers took the sign away from him. Good steal Katie,

fcnews

Marty Perez - made the statement on UAA page that he thought the friday attendence was 2200 - 2300. He says he has seen every Wash U. home game this year. He also said the friday crowd was larger then Wash U v. Chicago.

The SLIAC Commish position is going to be vacant.  Apply for it.

Is it full time?

Pat - The new Commish will be a full time position.

I am applying for it then!  I wasn't.  And I won't get it anyhow... but hey!  Why not.  I'll make fcnews my assistant and yjack & hope on the committee.

You obviously do care, or you wouldn't be throwing a gibe my way every time that I post in this room, in spite of the fact that I haven't addressed anything to you in months. So spare me the disingenuous attitude.

For those of us who aren't on Sager's level, he used some out of characteristic words.  Here's what they mean.

Inflected Form(s): gibed or jibed; gib·ing or jib·ing
Etymology: perhaps from Middle French giber to shake, handle roughly
Date: 1567
intransitive verb
: to utter taunting words
transitive verb
: to deride or tease with taunting words

Main Entry: dis·in·gen·u·ous
Pronunciation: \ˌdis-in-ˈjen-yə-wəs, -yü-əs-\
Function: adjective
Date: 1655
: lacking in candor; also : giving a false appearance of simple frankness : calculating

In response, I'll just  ;D and go on.I dont want to gibe Sager.  I hate being a disingenuous person and being false.  (Raises Hand).  You dog, my bad.  Didn't mean to say anything wack!

Man, I knew my disingenuous would get me busted one day.  Shoot.

pride, ignore this guy and maybe he will go away. He obviously wants these reactions, and in fact, seems to thrive on them. He has a right to post here if he wants. Even if he doesn't go away, I still advise that you ignore him.

fcnews

I have heard they have hundreds of applicants. For those of us that know him ( or got to know ) "Coach the Commish" he will surely be missed. It is about time he retired from public service. I'm sure he has all kinds of "Honey Do's" Lined up. I think us posters should throw him a going away bash.

Before Hope suggests it. Yes I'll get the pizza. Pride can get the dancing girls, yjak your on the desert and Hope is picking up the tabs.

fcnews

Yjak - Good advice. I have taken it. But, Pride I'll be your corner man. If you get hit by a "Gibe" I'll be your cut man.
