Sandbaggin' ? we just finished 4th. Preseason has to be Webster, Mac or WC. Sorry I forgot BC. They lost all their scoring and what intensity they had, in Hammond and Allen. LCC will be in the conference scheduling at this time.

And Hope trust me when I say this. If FU has a third straight successful recruiting season. If these kids continue to mature both mentally and physically next season.
I will be unbearable come '08-'09.

Speaking of Fontbonne, how long is McKinney going to linger there?  He pretty much churned out a Joe Pa kinda season in his waning years (no offense to Joe Paterno, he's definitely one of the greatest, but he went a few two many years).  They certainly didn't resemble anything that we are used to seeing from FU.  I hope for everybody's sake, even McKinney, that we don't witness the same thing mentioned above.  It's never good to see a coaching legend wither away (not winning games that is).

Wish I knew if this guy was still around. I'd like to thank him.

Class of '06 - Fogerty (2nd in scoring, ranked nationally FG% -1st team all sliac)
                   - McCoy ('06 scoring leader and all-sliac, '07 tourney mvp)
                   - Storandt ('06 all-sliac) poor man's "Rodman".

Class of '07 - White ( top 10 nationally 3 pt %, NOY all-sliac, all tourney ) future star.
                   - Branch ( good scorer and played better late in the season )
                   - Lovette (how good can he be)
                   - Bader and Dill

How to build a road to the dance in two short years. Three of the above chose FU over Div. II offers. Very well put together squad. FU is now big on sliac scale. Do to EC graduation. Still need a big man.

I was going to leave it to Eureka SID, but he hasn't touched on it, So I will Congratulate Chris Tarpley for making D3Hoops All Region Midwest, 2nd Team.

This is a big honor for Chris and the SLIAC as the conference takes baby steps in their quest for recognition and status that exceeds bottom 20% of D3 conferences.   Certainly Chris's honor and Fontbonne's competitive effort against Wash U in the NCAA's, along with the upgrade in schedule that several of the conference teams have shown, are all positive steps.

Chris led Eureka to a SLIAC Conference Tourney spot in their first year in conference.  He was a big kid, but very athletic and diverse  -  he ran the court well, banged hard inside, and was a real threat from the perimeter too.  He was voted the Player of the Year in the SLIAC, averaging 18.9 points per game and 10 rebounds per game.

Chris is only the third SLIAC player to be recognized as All Region in the 6 years that D3hoops has made the presentations.   Others recognized were Derek Suttles from Mac in 2004 and Drew Logan from Blackburn in 2002.
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

Well put Hopefan - Tarpley had a great season. Plus, he threw the best 94' pass I saw all year. He had the stats and credentials. Very deserving. I look for more SLIAC players to start appearing on these lists in the future.

Thanks for keeping everyone posted, Hopefan. I had some internet issues last night with all the wind and rain  >:(

I wasn't aware of the conference's all-region history. I was hoping to see Fogerty or White's name pop up on the list too, but maybe next year. I was privileged to be able to watch Tarp in almost 20 games this season. It was a treat to see and he made my post game recaps easy to write most times. I'm glad he was able to showcase his talents to everyone at the SLIAC tournament like he did. Unfortunately, not everyone got to hear him sing the national anthem. That, in itself, is quite a show!

I think Fogerty and White weren't as well known (obviously). Tarpley had the oppurtunity of being a recognizable name to alot more schools up your way. Both kids earned their battle wings this year. White with a stress fracture the last week of the season. Fogerty's knee's were an issue in the Wash U. game. Both are very tough kids and we learned how much winning meant, down the stretch.

I don't know, I may just be a Homer, I truly think Trevor White is a bonafide Pre-Season canidate next year. Trevor proved as a Freshmen that he was all as advertised. At 6'5 and built (weight room freak) he makes a for a big G/F in this area. Barring a Sophmore Slump, he should be a tough match up for anyone next year.

Boy's let me tell you. This is a special group. Their work ethic is the best I have ever seen at FC. That's saying something. Fogerty set the tone at the end of last season (and, it showed). When Coach say's hit the showers after practice, Fogerty, Storandt and White are in the weight room before most guy's are in the locker room. Asst. Coach John Thomas has put a great deal of time in with the big men and it's starting to show.

I'm happy to report that 10 players are already confirmed for August trip to Europe. This will be a great growing experience for this young squad. Included in this group is Terrance Lovett. For a guy who has only played 12 (8 varsity and 4 JV) organized games of basketball, I think he showed in the conference tourney that he has a chance to be a very dominate SLIAC player. His quickness with the ball down low will be tough to stop. And, the man has great touch and shoots well from the line.

There will be three significant additions to this group who will not make the trip. These players will be able to help immeadiately.

Only 7 months till the start of practices.

Again, Congrats to Chris Taroley. EC_SID is it true Chris is an accomplished opera singer?

Eureka SID noted on the Lady's page that he had voted for a number of the ladies selected.   It's obvious that in many cases, SID's likely vote for players in their own confrence - obviously those are the kids thay are most familiar with.     It brings up the question - are the other SLIAC SIDs taking advantage of this opportunity to vote - Besides Mac, are there other SLIAC schools that don't even have an SID, or at least an SID who is aware of this site?

How many SLIAC SIDs voted for All region teams?

While I have only questioned once about a SLIAC player not making All Region  (Bash in his first year at Maryville before his knee surgery REALLY deserved it), it's quite another thought if SLIAC players are being denied this opportunity because SLIAC SIDs aren't voting.  It's a potential opportunity for exposure that the conference may be missing.

Tough loss for Wash U. tonite. Congrats on a great season. The "Big Brother of STL D3 Hoops" did the town very Proud.

Was very impressed with the technology. I had a great feed. After I figured how to enlarge to full screen, it was kinda like being a kid again. 16" tv watching Bob Gibson pitching.

Pat - You guys did a Very good job. Another great step for D3HOOPS

Good point, fcnews. Since all of Eureka's former conference rivals are in the Midwest region, more people have seen Tarp in person over the last 2 years than the young'ns from Fontbonne. I don't know your definition of "accomplished," but Chris has a brilliant voice. I would say his singing talents rival his basketball talents, which I think is saying a lot.

I'm not sure how many SLIAC SIDs voted. Obviosly, I did and FU. I'm pretty sure Maryville and Webser voted too. There were 3 Griffins on the ballot as well as Hoggatt of Webster. I wanted to vote for all of them, but only had room for one, so I went with Fogerty. It's a really tough call. I mean, I want to vote for as many SLIAC guys as possible, but I also don't want to destroy the integrity of the voting process. The Midwest Region is obviously loaded with lots of great teams and players and you only get to vote for 10. It's only human nature to vote for the players you've seen more. Unless you really take your time and scour over the stats and notes on all of the players, it's easy to just dismiss everyone you've never heard of.

Hopefan, every school except for Mac has someone designated as the SID. Not everyone makes it a priority to post scores or nominate and vote for all-region on D3hoops, though.

fc news -- thanks for the kind words. Did you watch the Wash U women's game as well?

For those wondering, four SLIAC SIDs did not vote, plus Lincoln Christian, which never showed interest in getting a username and password. (We don't give them to first-year provisionals if they don't show interest.)

Pat - didn't get a chance to watch the Wash U women's game. If only four voted that is six to few. Looking forword to next week. FU will probably host a couple of the Midwest Regional teams for private work outs. Have had the oppurtunity to meet quite a few great people this way.

There is what's called the "FC blessing". Every team that has practiced at the DSAC has won their next game.

Anyone who watched Illinois fall apart under the Va. Tech full court press last night can more fully appreciate the value of a take charge guy like Scott Spinner, which Illinois did not seem to have. :o
