I think there is a coach willing to help rebuild this program. The question is, will Mac seek to reward an individual for taking the challenge. Are they seeking an AD/ Head Coach?

"Rebuild the program" -  a team that went 16-9 (it's best record in 15 years), shared the conference championship, and has five starters and its first two players off the bench coming back. Not sure if this scenerio fits the true definition of a program that needs rebuilding. Probably more of a case of finding the right coach who can take this team an even higher level. That's the task at hand - not rebuilding something from the scrap heap.

I think the 92-79 win over Fontbonne late in the season without Jerel Robertson in the second half speaks volumes for the potential MacMurray has in store for the 2007-2008 season. Rest assured my friends, the Highlanders will have a new and exciting coach on board in the near future.

The new college president will bring enthusiasm and commitment to MacMurray College. And the new AD will also be a top quality person who will continue the rebuilding our athletic department. The future is bright.

Mac Attack is definitely right that the basketball program doesn't need rebuilding. In addition to the current players, in the six years I've been watching SLIAC basketball Mac Murray has had two other outstanding players -- Derek James and Derek Suttles -- that I remember, and I'm sure there are more in that time span whose names I failed to learn.

If finding a president committed to D3 athletics is one of the selection criteria, then MacMurray should have no trouble getting a good AD and quality coaches, which will lead to quality athletes.

Poor choice of words on my part. Rebuilding the team was not my intention. We all know Mac is having some problems in the Athletic Dept. I meant to say that they need to hire someone to set the footing on the program. An AD/Head Coach would be nice.

Real shock that Brad Sodeburg was let go at St Louis U.   Hoping this does not impact the scheduled exhibition game with Fontbonne.  I was really looking forward to see the Griffs get that opportunity.
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

I sure hope it doesn't either. Where will Coach Soderberg end up? How about S. Alabama.

There are still a couple of jobs open in the SLIAC if he wants to stay close to St Louis....

You might convince Zvosek from UMKC to come over.  I'm not sure where you go from being fired from that job, but he is a great guy and I think a better than average coach.  He just wasn't up to d1 recruiting.

The Soderberg firing was definatly a shock out here in Greenville too.  And, why do you wait until all the good canidates are hired or settled in a job and then fire your guy.  I met coach Soderburg when I interned at SLU.  Nice guy.

Here's your EC coaching update:
There will be a candidate on campus Thursday for interviews and a presentation. A second coach will do the same thing Friday. If everything goes all right, one of them will be the next coach of the Red Devils! The one coming in Thursday is from Illinois originally, but coached in Michigan last season. The one on Friday is from Wisconsin originally (I think), but coached in Arizona last season. Both individuals have shown a great willingness to travel long distances and prepare on short notice. I'm guessing there were some mighty fine resumes turned down to get to this point. I'm glad I didn't have to do it. I'll be back to tell how everything went soon.

By the way, I'd like to make a motion to keep fcnews in Branson. It seems ever since he left the weather here has improved big time. He can go back to the Lou for basketball season when I don't care how bad it is outside.
