Hmmmmm. Been quiet for a couple of days. Surely we can find something to argue about!!

I'm anxious to know how pantherpride's visit to UNLV went. Speak up. pride, we're rooting for you.

pantherpride06

Ah, the UNLV trip was awesome.  I was looking at the stat line for the SLIAC Championship odds next year and Greenville w/ the newly revived HJ Long Gym has the lead...  not really.

Anyhow, it's amazing to see how a DI athletic dept. runs compared to our DIII departments.  To make a long story short, Coach Krueger was a great guy and I had a good 30 minute convo with him.  However, they let me know what they were hiring on on-campus applicant.

I'm still lookin' for a job if anyone knows of one in the area

Panther - seriously - i sent a note to the guy who was listed as the SID on the MacMurray site about a week ago - I believe his name was Urbanek - asking about the progress on hirings - and got a nice response that Mr Urbanek had left - the response from some higher admin position in Student Affairs.  If you haven't offered your services there, you should.
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

Interesting advice from hopefan -- who must have been woken up by the dog to be posting so early in the a.m.

It would seem to me that it would be rough to change allegiances from one conference school to another, though.

YJAK   $$$$$ talks when you're hungry....   I mean I left Holland Michigan and primo season tickets for Hope Hoops to come to St Louis 20 years ago!!!!

True, it'd be tough to lose my ties to Greenville.  What would I do w/ my name.  macpride06... not sure it'd flow...  We'll see.

What is everyone doing now the SLIAC sports are over??

For me, I'm following my high school softball team, who won their 2nd sectional title in 3 years on Thursday.  Headed to Columbus, Ind. for the Regional next weekend....

At some point the apple might have to fall from the tree. You might not be able to stay at Greenville forever.

Go for it.

Nice encouragement there from Pat Coleman. Those of us who know pantherpride06 think highly of him, so if D3 Sports is looking for someone...

This was in yesterday's St. Louis Post-Dispatch. "The NCAA approved moving the men's 3-point line back 1 foot in 2008 -- from 19 feet, 9 inches to 20 feet, 9 inches."

As to the question "What is everyone doing now that SLIAC sports are over?" Well, summer just isn't the same. I just live from major event to major event -- US Open golf, Wimbledon tennis, British Open golf, US Open tennis -- follow baseball somewhat, and wait for Fall.

No matter how little MacMurray might pay, it will pay more than we can. We just don't have a lot of budget for staff. This is a 'love of the game' type of arrangement, pretty much. Nobody gets market value for their work on this site.

That is why we all do it in sports at this level!  It's all for the love of the game, not for the money.  That's for sure.

And, you'd all be glad to know I e-mailed MacMurray my resume/cover letter.  I also applied for the Blackburn AD position.  We'll see if I can stay in the conference.

FU's Trevor White is currently in Barnes Jewish Hospital. He was thrown from a four wheeler Saturday morning and hit a tree. He was helicoptered in. Reports show no broken bones. He has a busted ear drum and is cut up pretty bad along his right side. He should make a full recovery. Yes, he was wearing a helmet.

We all enjoyed watching this young man play this year. Prayers would always be aprreciated.

y_jack_lok

So sorry to hear about that. Thoughts and prayers for a complete recovery and a great 2007-2008 hoops season for Trevor.

When you say a 4 wheeler do you mean an all terrain vehicle? Good thing he had that helmet on.

FC  -  really hope he's ok   -  kids,  argh!!!!

I have some new recruiting information to share.  Thus far, Webster has recieved commitments from the following student-athletes:

Matt Trippett, 6-1 guard --  averaged 16.6 a game for New Haven (1st team all state in 2a)
Tyler Tiemann, 6-1 shooting guard -- Meramec Community College
Eric Paradoski, 6-0 point guard -- Meramac Community College
Scott Restoff, 6-3 wing player --  from Mater Dei IL.... 12.6 points a game
Nate Arends, 6-8 post --  from Trinity High... 13 points and 11 rebounds a game
Luke Nieburgge, 6-2 guard -- from Lincoln Land Community College... averaged about 12 a game
Nick Jones, 6-3 wing -- from Heritage IL
Brad Cookson, 6-1 guard -- from Seckman and averaged 11 a game
Robby Meeh, 6-3 wing -- from Lindbergh High School averaged 8.9 points a game

If anyone has any additional information on these guys, please share. The Gorloks are still waiting for a handful of high school players and junior college players to make their commitments, so additional information will certainly be posted as I am made aware.

The Gorloks will have 8 juniors and 5 seniors.......13 upper classmen and 7 players that have started some games.  I know Fontbonne is loaded, but I believe talent for talent, Webster may get the nod... Obviosuly, I am a bit partial though, so I welcome comments.  If nothing else, Fontbonne and Webster will certainly be the top two teams in the SLIAC next year.
