I consider my own conference, the CCC, to be a comparable conference to the SLIAC and we're lucky to see schedules up before the schedule actually starts.

Yjak  -  I have been thumbing thru all D3 school sites to provide a service in another room on this site (see multi regional) by providing a review of schools with posted schedules.   If they're available, and if the school has an SID, there is no reason not to start prepping next year's site.  For one reason or another, the midwest region has far and away the most schedules already posted.  The HCAC, the CCIW, the NathC each have over half of their schedules posted.

The reunion exceeded all expectations..  will tell you all about it when we get together again, though it will not be on our previously arranged date - will be celebrating Wade's first that Saturday after the 4th.

Hoops  -  the CCC and SLIAC comparable in what way????

MacMurray's 2007-2008 non-conference schedule to date includes:

Nov 16/17 @  Adrian (MI) College Tip-Off Tournament
Nov. 20 @ Elmhurst
Dec. 1 @ Millikin
Dec. 18 Lakeland (WI) College at MacMurray

I know that attempts were being made to schedule Illinois Wesleyan, but it doesn't like that will become a reality this season. Too bad. Mac will probably play an exhibition game similar to the one they played last season at Western Illinois. Efforts are being made to get Illinois College back on the schedule - the Mac women's team plays IC, but not the men. That game is probably a year away. My guess is the final two games will be scheduled once the AD sets up shop after the first of July.

Neither even rises to the sports information average in Division III.

Seems unlikely. IWU has its schedule done much earlier than MacMurray does.

Do we have your alleged coach yet? You know, the one that was supposed to be hired "within the week" as of June 7?

Hopefan, have you ever watched Clayton Cahill, the 6'0 off guard who just graduated from Cardinal Ritter? Do you have any connections who have commented on his game?

Greg - I've somewhat left the high school scene for D3, and my geographic location is southwest rural St Louis compared to Ritter's central north City.

If FCnews is reading, he has far better contacts than I do, and may be able to find something out.

It's my understanding that Mac had two finalists for the position and a decision was going to be made by mid-June. One of the two finalists took another coaching opportunity, and an offer has been been made and accepted by the other finalist - who comes with solid credentials and a commitment to the MacMurray program. My guess is the college will release the coach's name once a contract has been signed, which should be within the next few days - but I'm not sure about the timeline. I would think the new coach will be calling the players, getting the team together for an informal team meeting, etc. within the week.

Once the college release the new cach's name, I'll post it, if it hasn't already posted. It's a shame that it's taken this long to fill the position, but it happens, especially when the AD also moves on.

Not sure what you mean by "your alleged coach," Pat. He's not my coach, alleged or otherwise - he's hired by the college and there is a process that must be followed.

Todd Creal, who has been an assistant at Millikin University the past three years, will be the new men's basketball coach at MacMurray College. Creal was also an assistant at Augustana College, and is a graduate of Illinois College where he played for the Blue Boys. Welcome aboard, Coach Creal, and best of luck to you and the Highlanders.

Thanks for that info MacAttack. I like to see assistant coaches get a chance to move up. Is Mac still looking for a women's coach, or has that job been filled?

hopefan

That's exciting news for Mac - I like it for three reasons -

1)  just as Yjak said, I love to see hard working assistants get an opportunity - it generates so much more excitement than a situation like another SLIAC school who recently hired a former head coach from far away who had left his prior job with a simply horrible record

2)  Coming from the CCIW, the tops in the country, equates to a potential upside for Mac and the  conference in contacts, recruiting, objectives.

3)  Coming from Illinois College, perhaps Coach Creal can ressurect the IC - Mac cross town rivalry, a game that would spark excitement at both schools.

Seems to me to be a great hire!!!!
