Third place in the Mo. Show-me Games in the 19 and over division was won this month be a team consisting of Fogerty and Storandt from Fontbonne along with several other players thrown together  mostly from Fogerty's high school alumni including gaurd Andrew Beckemier who just transfered from Mo. Bap to Hannibal La Grange. They won 5 of 6 games.

Where has Macattack been??? No info on MAC Hoops??  Got it here..... Brady Greene, Farrid Coleman, and Jerrell Robertson will not be returning to campus.  Word is all three are transferring to other schools.  Robertson is following former Mac coach north.  Greene will be transferring to an NAIA in Maryland, and Coleman is searching for a school in his state of Michigan.   This leaves huge holes in the Mac starting lineup and team.  The leadership these three carried was very evident in their run through the SLIAC, hope Creal is still out their trying to lure some talent to Jacksonville, because he will need it.  I believe Neil Compton and Billy Long are the longest tenured Highlanders and will need to show some leadership this year for this Mac squad to hang in there.  Will Schmidt have a bigger role on the new team??  Will he be able to produce like he did last year with more minutes??  Who are Creal's recruits or transfers coming in?   And who is Mike Jones??  Those are questions to be asked this year for a team that will include new faces and faces that did not play last year.  I will be  back later with more info.

...especially since I don't think there are any NAIA schools in Maryland.

According to the NAIA website dansand is correct -- no NAIA schools in Maryland. Regardless of where Brady Greene goes, if he's not at Mac then we most likely won't be hearing from Mac Attack again.

As for Coach Creal, he may be in a position similar to the Webster women's coach last year. She had virtually no players coming back and achieved wonders just getting a team on the court and winning six games. The good news in all this is that a coach in this situation has the opportunity to build something virtually from the ground up. If life give you lemons...

Robertson and Coleman are no suprise. Where else is Greene going to play?

Well whether there is an NAIA in Maryland or not, the fact of the matter is MAC loses arguably and most positively in my opinion their 4 best ingredients due to graduation, transfer, or whatever the case may be.  Where Brady Greene goes is Creal's problem, not mine.  I just hear things and report on it.  The fact thatthe team returns....Neil Compton, Billy Long, Nick Schmidt, Adam Polstein???, and some sophmores that never saw the floor, is what bothers me......None of these names showed me enough to last year or any year for that matter to lead a team on or off the court.  A transfer whether it be from Milikin, JUCO, or Illinois STate cannot help this team in leadership.  I dont know what incoming freshman are looking like and since MAC hasnt shown the capabilities of luring a real impact freshman since the legend of Derek Suttles has graced GAY COURT at WALL GYMNASIUM I forsee a dark and gloomy future for Mac BBALL.  Till next time haters check your watches cuz its Schmidts time to shine...........

SLIAC posters and fans might want to go to the SLIAC website and click on the new link "SLIAC News". Congratulations are in order to Blackburn's men's basketball coach, Kirk Chandler, who completed his first season at Blackburn in '06-'07. He has been named Blackburn's Director of Athletics.

Congrats yes - but wow, let's remember that a year ago, this individual had been out of coaching after going something like 2-50 in his last two seasons at Averett, he comes to Blackburn and has a losing season with 2 of the best players in the SLIAC (Zak and Zeb)  (yes, I know it takes more than 2 players to win), and he displayed a bench demeanor that put the most rabid fans in the conference to sleep.   Perhaps the office requirements of his new position will suit him better, but one of his first tasks should be to bring in an enthusiastic young coach to restart things at Blackburn.  Last season had to be very disappointing to Blackburn fans.... fans who were the most energetic in the conference the last severaal years.

Very well put Hopefan. So I guess after it's all said and done, Mac Attack couldn't believe his own hype about Mac's program, education and the directions the school was taking. What are the chances of Greene resurfacing in the SLIAC ? BC, GC or maybe EC ?

From the open gym report - I would not want to be the guard or small forword that draws the job of guarding Cartez Parker next season. You can tell by the kids desire and work ethic that it must of been tough on the kid to sit and watch FU's run last year. Parker is by far the best athlete in the conference.

I'm disappointed that we haven't heard from MacAttack - he could either refute the report, or tell us what led to the supposed departures.  I really thought that things could continue to flow with the hiring of Todd Creal - Absolutely shocked it Brady Greene left given his family's total support of the program and the school.  Crazy move if Robertson went all the way up to Lake Superior with the past coach - he'll go from being an outstanding D3 player to a D2 program that gets little support - Can you spell H-O-C-K-E-Y????  Just hate to see Mac and the SLIAC take a hit like that.

What position can Robertson play at D2. He was an undersized interior player at Mac. He is very athletic, but if you force him to shoot from outside 6 ft. it is tough for him to score.

hopefan

Exactly FC - the athleticism that distinguished him from most other SLIAC players is commonplace at the D2 level....

Im not sure Robertson will play this year.  There is ways to sit a player out and improve their skills and strength with  a year of redshirting.  Im sure ex-MAC coach sees something in him as a player and a thing called potential is definitely evident.  There is also a thing called scholarship money, schools loyalty (which MAC actually lacks), and if an individual is willing to work hard he can transform himself into a reliable player on a D2 roster.  First of all at MAC how much was he paying????  At the Michigan school he can get actual money to go to school, he will have food and a room paid for.  Whether the school is a hockey power or not I am sure they are taking care of their student athletes better than MAC.  MAC is like a flop house they have students and faculty come in and out like a cheap whore house.   They being the D2 school have a contract with a shoe company that gives them gear, multiople pairs of shoes that they DO NOT have to purchase, and takes care of the school or team.  The coach is not stupid he turned a 9-16 team into a conference champ hes not going to take a chance on someone that he doesnt feel will help him, if he did then I am sure he would have brought the whole team with him.  Robertson is a 3 at that level and if he works hard he can turn into a player that will help out a D2 program, not a low tier D3.  There is a better chance he could play at a pro level whether it be overseas, ABA, or CBA, than coming from a D3 program.  This kid is looking out for #1 and whats wrong with that.  I didnt see any development in him at MAC in 2 years.  With a D2 program he can actually work with the staff on an individual basis, that in itself will improve his abilities and turn him into a D2 player.  His athletic ability is what made him a good D3 player in a weak league, if his work ethic is anywhere near his athletic ability watch out, because he has the tools to be at that level just not the skills.  Anyone would take that opportunity and run if they were put in a situation to move up a level, he did the right thing.  Whether he takes advantage of it or not is up to him.  I am surprise it took 2 years of Robertson playing in this league to move, if I were him I would have left after year 1.  MAC didnt take a hit they just don know how to take care of its own.  The SLIAC should be grateful they dont have to try to take RObertson, ex-coach and company on next year and that they just have to deal with a first year coach that has no idea what hes getting into and a bunch of second rate players and some fill ins.  MAC lost too much to even be considered for the top half, the teams that were under them which are waiting to take some licks at them and bring them back down to the doormat of the SLIAC.  So dont hate on Robertson congratulate him for making the best decision of his young life and bettering himself.......Im outta here
