Will you guys give me a rundown on the starting five and then the benches of each team you're closet to. If there are players that are on the bubble of returning for one reason or another throw that in there also. If there are any recruits you expect to be key factors right away. Also who do believe has the best bench here. Also does it look like any one team will change their style of play significantly because of lost or gained players. I'll hang up and listen to your reponse.

FC returns : Fogerty, McCoy, Storandt, Parker, Branch, Lovette, Fournie and Dill. Just to name some. Add Dressler and Rapp. FC will have enough fire power to make up the points loss to the leaving of White. Trevor did not offer alot on the defensive end. That said, Here's hoping to see him in the Purple and Gold next year.

Bunchtime how was your summer? Panther are you all moved in yet?

BunchTime

Summer came and went very quickly... Lots of work!  I am ready to follow another season of SLIAC hoops.... Looks like the Griffins and Gorloks will be duking it out as they are arguably the top 2 teams!

Yes, moved in and working hard here in the Great Northwest.  UPS athletics doing well with four of our six fall team ranked in the NCAA III Top 25 and only three losses between Men's and Women's Soccer, Football, and Volleyball.  It's been quite enjoyable!

Simmons, Conquest, Ellis, Williams, Cochran, Traeger, Agomo, Wolfe....

Oh, did I forget the sharpshooter in Hensold!!  Benny will have a rebound year.

Greenville will not be an easy pill to swallow.  Loss of Taylor last year will hurt and losing West won't feel good either.  However as mentioned before, Cochran, Traeger, Agomo, Wolf, Gregonik, Groves, Bierdeman.

Greenville has a solid core of guys.  I feel I will be hearing good news out of the group off if I-70, exit 45...

Eureka's starting line up I would project to be Chris Beecher, Zasada, Darnall, Wildenradt, and TBA. Normally, it would have been McComb in that last spot, but he won't be ready to start the season due to a knee injury. The new guys will fight it out for the open starting position.

With a change in coaches and the loss of our frontcourt, EC will obviously play a different style. It remains to be seen just how different.

On the bright side (pun intended), new lights are going up in the gym this week. Maybe I won't have to squint to see the number of three-point shooters from the corner anymore  ;D.

eureka_sid, will Seth McCoy and Zach Davis be on the team this year? You said McComb, but did you mean MCCoy?

Conversely, it will be harder to deploy the 2-3-2 zone defense.   ;) :D

One of the repercussions of White being gone this season is that there is a greater likelihood of Parker seeing time at small forward   -  I was firmly convinced that if Coach could "tame" Parker's game a bit, Parker would be best at point with McCoy at the 2, taking some decision making away from McCoy and letting him get open off the ball.   But with the small forward slot open, Parker is definitely athletic enough to fill that role, with Fournie and Branch at the 2.  Unfortunately that leads to McCoy being the point - good sometimes, but out of control others.   Still though, I agree with FC - plenty of talent - just hope Coach can get it all flowing in the same direction.

Blackburn returns Bryan Waters at the point, and both Grant Lamsargis and Ryan Smith from last years starters, and as well Tommy Baro, After these 4 however, just Frasier Simmons and Jamel Washington are back from last years team and neither got signifacant time last year.  The bench will be very young, being mostly freshman.  The style will undoubtedly change this year now that they have a couple of big post players this year, a 6'7 and 6'6 kid, which gives the Beavers something they haven't had in many years.

Seth and Zach will both play again this year too. Both will have the opportunity to make a significant contribution. I really can't say how this will work because neither has unfortunately seen the court in games much the last 2 years. It wouldn't surprise me if McCoy ends up starting a good portion of the time.

Good point, Mr. Turner. We could still try it, but it just might show up on the film now that you can, you know,  see to the other side of the gym. Make sure you bring your sunglasses  8) if you come to a game at Eureka this year. All the lights are in and they make a HUGE difference!

In Parker's situation he is to "score first" to play the point. But he can score, so use him to score. And, McCoy will most time at the two, after his performance over seas. But, SLIAC pt. guards will all have to go against Cartez when they have the ball.

Fontbonne will lose a lot without White from the outside. If Parker takes the point ( he hasn't proven anything yet-remember they lost most of the games he played ) . McCoy to the 2. That's where he belongs.
He can concentrate on making those beyond the arc buckets.
Storandt "THE REBOUND MAN" needs to go to the hole more often and shot those 4-6 foot shots in paint
.Fogerty needs to improve his shot beyond the arc and use the pull up jumper more. I know it was effective at times in high school when they looked for him to drive to the bucket
With Fournie used as a swing type player in various roles. He has to learn how to stay out of foul trouble on defense to be more effective. Dill,Porter, and Branch all will need to play together well and be prepared to to play in squads of all different makeups to allow starters more bench time so they can have some gas at the end of the season.
Their total defense should be able to play with anyone. They now have the experience. I'm looking forward to a good start from them.

Question for eureka_sid. I noticed that A. J. Richard was playing on your men's soccer team Saturday against Webster. Last season's basketball roster had him listed as a senior. Will he be playing basketball this season, or is he just finishing up requirements for graduation and happen to have elegibility for soccer?

hopefan

I'd imagine AJ was one of the larger players ever to hit the soccer pitch for a school in the SLIAC
