FC - I have some great memories regarding Wheaton - Both my sons had thoghts of going there, though it didn't end up that way  -  very excited to hear they'll be on Fontbonne's schedule in 2008-09.

Also not sure where this predicted loss to RHIT is coming from....  RHIT should be good, but not unbeatable....

Ought to be a boring year on the SLIAC Chat. We have a rep. from FC and EC. Yjak has ties to WU and Hope roots for whoever is playing FC. Any parent or student who reads this site from the other institutions please join us.

FC's Brian Fogerty was named a Pre-Season All American by DIII News.

y_jack_lok

Wow, great honor for Fogerty.

I expect PantherPride will post occasionally about GC and strengthen our numbers. Then there's the person from MacMurray who has stirred things up a time or two in the recent past. Perhaps we will hear from him/her again.

Otherwise, you are right. We four regulars make for a boring combination.

BunchTime

Don't forgot about me FC.  I have been reading and following the chat, but haven't had anything new to comment about.  I should get a report soon on how the Gorloks are shaping up and I will post accordingly.

I think in DIII this time of the year is tough to report anything substantive because of the lack of media associated with it and the not-knowing of what team has what/who or what players are emerging as impact players.

Like I said, whenever I come across information I will be sure to post.  Have no fear though, I will be here all year with reports from Webster while also tossing in my 2 cents in SLIAC conversations!

BunchTime

Actually, I just noticed that Webster's 07-08 roster has been posted.  So I guess there is a start in terms of knowing what players Webster has this year.  Typically, in years past, about 3-5 of these guys will not be with the team by the start of the season due to injury or lack of desire to continue their basketball career.  However, these players are ordinarily ones who would make little impact, if any, for the Gorloks.

hopefan

FC  -  the guys on top are ALWAYS a target!!!!!! ;D ;D ;D

AND, will there ever be a better season of SLIAC hoops than last year when 6 teams fought it out for 4 playoff spots and teams no 7 & 8 were capable of upsets too?   I don't think that kind of parity will be as evident this year as it was last year......

I agree though, disappointing that more people don't post here - was amazed during the season last year that regular lurkers are out there, yet won't post themselves....  The more the merrier - the greater the base of knowlege and opinion....

What's that smell ?
Smells a lot like Basketball Season
Tick Tick Tick

Apologies to BunchTime and FU Fan for leaving them off my list of posters. I thought of them well after I had submitted that post and was far away from my computer.

And, as hopefan mentions, there are those who read but don't post. Some have posted in the past and ceased for various reasons.

I saw the Webster roster yesterday. My one observation is about the lack of height.  The tallest of the newcomers is 6-4.

buncheriffic

I pledge allegiance to Coach Bunch, a true Webster Legend. and to the Gorlok emblazoned on so many All-Sports trophies, one University, under Bunch, indivisible, with victories and bosco sticks for all.

y_jack_lok

Welcome, buncheriffic. Can you do poetry as well? We need someone/something to bring something unique to our site. Your first post certainly does that.

BunchTime

I second that buncheriffic!  Well put!

As promised, here is the latest report from the campus of Webster University:

The team has 26 players practicing, including 3 walk-ons.  From what I heard this is the deepest and hardest working team in recent history.  It will be a battle for minutes and the competition at practices will be fierce.  Right now, there are 15-18 players competing for minutes.  And I hear that this is arguably Coach Bunch's best recruiting class since his arrival at Webster.  From the looks of things, it seems as if the program continues to make strides in the right direction.

A major factor in the recruiting is not only Coach Bunch, but also longtime assistant coach Mike Siener.  Any basketball fan knows that to develop a winning program you need not only a good head coach but also assistants who work tirelessly on the recruiting trail.  Coach Siener has been with the program as a Coach for 8 years, and I beleive he is an up-and-coming coaching prospect!

I am so ready for basketball season to start. It is going to be a fun year at Blackburn!!
Go Beavers!

y_jack_lok

BunchTime is absolutely right. Coach Siener is terrific. Having recently completed a masters and with 8 years as an assistant he should be a top candidate for many head coaching positions when he decides he wants to move on.

Good to hear that the Webster recruiting class appears to be strong and that so many players are motivated to work hard for playing time.

Nice to hear from everyone!!!!!

Bunchtime hope all is going well. Nice numbers for WU.

Does the SLIAC have more 5'10 and under players then anyother conference?

Size wiil have to be addressed sooner or later. Or, FC could be tough on opponents if they go three bigs. Which knowing Coach they probably will. What a match up problem when facing Fogerty, Storandt, Lovette and two guards.

hopefan

#3569
or FC, to put it another way, how in the world would Fontbonne guard anybody with that lineup????  What could be an apparent mismatch in one direction size wise could generate a mismatch in the other direction with quickness -   Coach could generate a pretty good inside offense with that group though (if he can persuade the guards to get it inside with regularity....)

I can't wait for Fontbonne - Webster 1,  then Fontbonne - Webster 2, then, hopefully at season's end, Fontbonne - Webster 3
