I wish I had a crystal ball and could predict the starting lineups for the Webster Fontbonne game - am really looking forward to it.  -  But rumors are swirling about lineup adjustments on both sides - Guess we'll just have to wait and see - more fun that way!!

Seriously - if the players are reading this - Bring your best game - you will always have memories of the games with your cross town rival!!!!

And who knows - the winner is a step ahead in getting the all important host role for the SLIAC  tourney.

To Coach McKinney and Coach Bunch - two really nice guys  -  best of luck  -  keep the score close to give the fans a thrill!!!!

Hopefan - You can count on a battle wednesday night. It's the tradition of the FU v. WU rivalry.

Something for the SLIAC posters to ponder. As we get ready for the "SEASON" to start, are we looking at much more mediocre version of last years race. At this time I don't see the talent level anywhere near the level of last year. If you just look at the possible candidates for this years all-conference team. Last year there were not enough stops on the first team for those deserving. We lost the twin towers of Eureka, three quality players out of Mac, Webster lost a scoring guard with leadership qualities, Fontbonne lost the best three spot in the conference, Westminister lost their big man in the middle, ect.

If you had to name a sliac first five at this time, I'd have trouble. Not mentioning any of the home team boys, I can't think of five. I'd say Hoggatt of WU and Buxton of Westminster and then their are a couple of maybe's like Kuhn and Kurz.

We need to see some new faces or old faces improved to even come close to last years edition.

WOW  -  do I disagree with that all conference team, at least as of now...  I haven't seen any of the Illinois schools play yet, but based on THIS SEASON to date, neither Kuhn nor Hoggett would make first team all conference - Heck, two of the leading scorers in the conference are kids from Principia!!!!

Guess we'll just have to see who really performs during the conference games .  As I said, Hoggett started to look like his old self against Augie, but his status for the fontbonne game is unknown given his unexplained (to the public) absence from the IWU game.

Hope - I beleive the news from down Big Bend is that Darrin suffered an ankle sprain in practice. When and how bad, I don't know.

I also should of mentioned Darnell of EC in the maybe group.

Well SLIAC play is about to kick off a little bit and going by records as of now, it's up for grabs.  Yes, the beginning of the season is a great way to find out what teams are about, Like GC two 5 point W's, but we all know when it's a conference match-up, it's a whole different game.  As I saw, GC plays to their opponents level, I agree with that and they also played like that when they had their "go to guy" Conquest.  They lack a big man and things are going to have to be adjusted as the season goes.  In both games, GC let the teams come back, it's not like it's "5" points the whole game, GC just needs to learn how to finish games out better.  I also think that at least the Cor. (MO) game would of been different if Cochran would have played, due to "team violations" I would suspect.

Any predictions for opening night??  Regarding BC vs EC, BC will need to with the same intesity they showed Thursday against RMC-S.  If they can, and if the freshmen can stay within themselves without pushing to hard in the conference opener, BC should be able to do pretty well.  I dont know much about EC, but I think they are in a similar situation, lost a lot from last year's team and still waiting for someone to step up and become the go to guy.
The Fontbonne vs Webster game has easily got to be the game of the night.  What an opener with both teams expected to fight for 1st place.
Maryville and Westminster should be an interesting game, MU and WU both bring a lot back. Is Westminster truly the 3rd best team in conference as believed, and how competive will MU be this year
Prin vs Mac....currently, this may be the cellar, havent heard much about Prin, and Mac has had several BAD losses this year...
Greenville plays a non conference game vs LCC.....

I've gotta believe Hoggatt will have to be pretty banged up to not suit up Wednesday against Fontbonne. I hope this was just a ploy by the WU staff to get everyone worked up and throw doubt into the Gorlok line up heading into the big game. It would be a huge bummer if these 2 teams were not a full strength when they faced off.

Regarding the BC/EC match up...this should be a close game...just don't show up wanting to see a shootout because you'll likely leave disappointed. Blackburn has played a good number of new guys, but also have some vets like Waters, Lamsargis, Baro, and Smith, which should help them on the road.

The Red Devils have played better defensively each time out, but have relied too much on a sputtering perimeter offense thus far and sit at 0-5 as a result. Darnall has stepped up and played extremely well so far, but McComb looked hesitant to return to his daring dribble-driving game of yesteryear last week. Will Wednesday be the night the shots begin to fall? Will the bench begin to make more of a contribution in the scoring column? Will we end up with a 46-39 clunker? Will Hopefan make it through an entire college basketball game without letting loose a verbal tirade at obnoxious fans sitting nearby? Sadly, the non-conference season has raised more questions than it has answers.

Hey come on Eureka SID, it was only once -

Haha. Sounded like he got what he deserved. The only thing about it I didn't like was that I wasn't there to see it.

Long Distance Traveler

Eureka I was there to witness the "meeting in the bleachers".  All I know is that there are linebackers in the NFL that wish they had the foot speed of Hope Fan.  When he went past me it was just a blur. :o :o

On the Eve of Opening Nite. The best we got to talk about is Hopefan's foot speed? Where did the good Ol' Days go.

Let's all pray that the games are decided by the Kids and not the other three individuals on the floor.
