Let's face facts folks. In the scope of a season last nights loss means absolutely nothing more then a number in the won-loss columns. Is there a single person on this board that can honestly say that on Jan 1 last season that a FU team that 2-7 with a five game losing streak, had any chance to be in the National tournament.

The only win or loss that counts is the last game in February. And it is a long way from February.

FC - you write off losses too easily in an effort to justify them to this board.  I'm sure to the coaching staff, players, families and fans, that loss meant a little more than nothing.   Games are played for more than just a shot at the national tournament.  Your I don't care attitude, especially considering how close you are to the program, demeans the efforts of all those people associated with it.

Hopefan - Did you not read any of my post games comments? "Webster Domination", "Could of rested Hoggatt and still won by 20" and in response to yjak that they would of won with or without Fogerty playing. Beleive me when I say this "PAL", with all the circumstances surrounding wed. nights game tjat loss was not near as demoralizing as the two last second losses (GC and EC) were last year.

It is what it is. ( to steal a line from a real friend of mine ) I told a former WU player on the phone following the game that we played Horrible and Webster played like a team that could become regionally ranked. My words were close to those mentioned above when I spoke to Darrin after the game.

What are you expecting out of the coaching staff and players from FU to do? Should we go out and bury our uniforms and  pay our last regards to the 07-08 season.

no FC  -  but as a fan of the Fontbonne basketball program, I look at the performance, and I don't think of it as meaningless - I look at is as VERY meaningful, in that it shows the staff and the players what they have to do to rise to the heights they reached last year.  By preaching that the loss was meaningless it only serves to make a loss to Westminster meaningless then a loss to Maryville meaningless, then a loss to someone else meaningless, and then there is no postseason appearance.

Anyway, one more item where we agree to disagree  -  and now we're even on temper tantrums...

Now your putting words in my mouth. I don't recall any discussion of a WC or MU game. We were just speaking about the 12/5 contest against Webster. A game played with a pre season All - American and possible conference MVP not suited and coming off a two week lay off. Let me try another sports analogy you might understand. In horse racing, when looking at past performances, there are some races when you just have to throw out a race (due to track conditions, post positions, dull performances, ect). You can't win the Kentucky Derby riding a Donkey and wednesday nights performance by Fontbonne was a donkey of an effort. If you don't beleive the coaching staff at FU learned alot from that game then try checking out their game this Saturday.

We will agree on one thing. We have very rarely agreed on anything. You are not a FU Fan and never have been (you sat with the WU squad the whole womens game and there is nothing wrong with that). We didn't agree on much last year. All the way up to the point that you had to eat your words in the top row of the Webster Gym after the final horn of the SLIAC Championship Game. Every "fan" has the right to pull for their team of choice.

There are no tantrums here. I just grow tired of your innuedos and prodding. Yjak (as faithfull a Gorlock fan as you will find) can post his feelings and views on the game, with out making it sound like a personal attack. Take a lesson.

That being said, I hope to see you at as many games possible this year and I will continue to text you game scores when you are not in the same gym.

ok - there are so many inaccuracies in that statement, that I'll bow out.

Thank you Hopefan. You are a very loyal SLIAC fan. I do appreciate your enthusiasm for a conference you really had no ties to before coming to STL. It's the D3 way. God knows we need every fan we can get. My apologies if I offended you. It was not my purpose. Now can we look forword to this weekends match ups.

Big games tomorrow...Very important game for both BC and Maryville, its never a good thing to go down 0-2 in conference, that often times can mean the difference between 4th and 5th place...same with Fontbonne, although I think the bad loss Wednesday was a fluke....no offense to Webster fans, just don't see Fontbonne really being 22 pts worse then Webster.  The game of the Day.....Principia vs Eureka...who'd have thought that Prin and EC would be battling for first place.....ok, so its only been one game, but still........This weekend should really give everyone a better look of who can contend for the SLIAC Tourney and who won't.  Webster is clearly the team to beat, but like I said, its only been one game....

Either Principia or Eureka will be 2-0 and at the top of the conference after tomorrow's games, tied with Westminster if they beat Greenville. Since Webster plays Lincoln Christian they will still be 1-0 in conference, and Greenville, which played LC on Wednesday, will either be at the top with the undefeateds, or at the bottom with the winless.

Right on, right guard. I would say the Maryville/Blackburn game is probably a little more important for BC, since Maryville will still have their full complement on home games after New Year's.

Prin @ Eureka should be another close game. If the Red Devils play like they have been, I wouldn't be surprised to see the Panthers steal one here. That being said, it seems EC is improving significantly each game, so we'll see. Prin definitely has some weaponry it didn't have last year and they gave us all we could handle here last season.

Safe travel to all those on the roads in the Northern parts of the conference.

@ Fontbonne today - mens game only  1pm (the women are at Milikin Classic)

I have a good feeling about my Panthers going into Westminster today.  We haven't played well there the past few years.  I think we are 2-3 in our last five, winning the first and last of those five games.  I think they boys are ready to get their first SLIAC win going into break.  I'll give you updates as I get them!
