Hopefan - we're getting a little personal again. :-X

Last day in SoCal. A trip to Venice Beach and a run through the Hollywood sites will conclude our scheduled activities. Most will be in the Downtown Disney area tonite to watch the Patriots game and a big UFC Pay-Per-View.

We fly out tomorrow at 5pm. Then it's back to work for two road trips to BC and EC. Excited to see what Santa brought the Griffin's for Christmas.

This was a tough trip physically for the squad. Two games in 36 hours, with all the travel, was not an easy chore.

Good minutes for John Dressler, Frank Sheetz and Ben Rapp. Also, I couldn't be more proud in the growth of Branch's game. He is a streaky shooter and now he's beginning to contribute in other areas. He is just a sophmore and will be a very good all-around player with a little time.

Let's remember that the Griffin's will only lose one player to graduation this year. We will need to find another defensive stopper to fill Chad Fournies role.

Everyone have a very safe New Year.

MacMurray trails Arkansas State 45-17 with about 2 minutes left in first half. Mac trailed by 4 about 10 minutes in, but the Indians really put the pressure on. Compton and Polston hit a couple of 3s early, but Mac can't hang with the bigger, stronger, and faster ASU team. Watching and listening to the game on the ASU website. Interesting sight on Mac's bench. Brady Greene, who was a key player on Mac's co-championship team last season, is in street clothes.

Half

Arkansas State 49
MacMurray 19

FYI - ASU trailed Memphis by 6 with three minutes to play. Tough duty for the Highlanders.

Gem Shooz

Arkansas State 58
Mac 22

15 minutes left.

Points off turnovers in 1st half: ASU 23   Mac 0

Gem Shooz

Arkansas States leads Mac by 40 with 10 minutes left and just put four of their starters back in the game. Thanks a lot....

Does this mean SLIAC Chat may get a return of Mac Attack II ? Brady will definately make Mac more competitive. But, it's not like Whalen, Coleman or Robertson coming back.

January 15 is the start of the second semester at Mac. Coleman is expected back as well, or at least that's the word. He has one year of eligibilty left, Greene two. If they play the second semester, that will be it for Coleman. My guess is both will wait until the 2008-2009 season to come back, but we'll see. Robertson, Coleman, Greene, and Whalen are all terrific players. One graduated, one transferred, and the other two may play again at Mac. I think that's good news. Having their third coach in three years has set recruiting back at Mac, but Coach Creal is working hard at bringing in new players from the central Illinois area, and beyond, who can play.

What ever happened to White at Fontbonne? I heard he was in an accident. Will he return to Fontbonne at some point? Same question about Davis from Westminster.

Gem  -  welcome to the board - interesting news regarding Coleman and Greene.  I hope they do wait until next year - They'd be much more effective with a full preseason of practice with the new coach as compared to stepping in with little preparation

White was in an accident, but that was not the influence on his decision - from what FC has said, it was more of a family decision based on finances, and that he will return to Fontbonne, next year, unless FC throws a second semester surprise at us.

Someone posted a while back that Davis had only one semester of eligibility left and passed on it...

Finally had a chance to read the Maryville Blog. Interesting reading. You have to give credit for the positive attitude.

Hope everyone has a safe and Happy New Year.

Well, coference rolls into full swing this Saturday, and given my lack of total allegiance to any individual team in the SLIAC, previewing the SLIAC games to be played in St Louis in January generates a perfect schedule - a game or choice of games every conference day, leaving the St Louis sites only once

Saturday Jan 5   Eureka @ Maryville

Jan 9  choice of Greenville at Maryville or Blackburn at Webster

Saturday  Jan 12  Mac at Webster

Jan 16   Fontbonne at Maryville

Saturday  Jan 19  Mac at Maryville

Jan 23  Maryville at Webster  or Westmin at Fontbonne   -  will be interesting to see the standings leading into these games  -  this could be the top 4 teams by then

Saturday Jan 26   Blackburn at Maryville

Jan 30  Road trip Fontbonne at Greenville

It's obvious from looking at this that Maryville has a heavy home schedule in January  -  February will be seeing more of Webster and Fontbonne

Anxious to see the new face at Maryville.... and any surprises elsewhere where hints have been dropped.......

It should be a dog fight for the fourth spot again this year. Just by the non - conference results, I think it will be between EC, MU and PC. Principia is a very tough road game for anyone and I'm sure Greenville will have some input on the final standings. It should be another intersting race this year. Just maybe a little more top heavy.

With the seniors on the rosters of both WU and WC, you'd think there would be a since of urgency this season.

My question for Gem Shooz is: If Brady Greene was accepted back at Mac he would of been able to play in the Ark. St. game. Was this a conditioning situation or other?

Wow. Hopefan and my paths will cross for the first time in 2008. I better wear my clean shirt.

Actually, given that Maryville has played 2 road games already, they have some catching up to do in the home game department, so that has much to do with the cushy January schedule. That should sit well with Hope since he's been accused as being a Saints fan on multiple occasions.

EC SID- Hopefan came to us as a Saints supporter based on his relationshjp with the asst. coach at that time. After, Coach Myers retirement, he got off that bandwagon and just became a general sliac and D3 fan.
