Word from Mac is Greene and Coleman will not play the second semester and save their time for a full season in 2008-2009. Coleman will have one year left, Greene two.

Johnson of Principia is unorthodox, but still a force to be reckoned with.  He does not have what you would call great mechanics and he is lost a the free throw lone most of the time, but I would think any coach would love to have his intensity and energy on their team.  Fogerty is more polished, but they are very similar players and that should be a good one-on-one match up. I wouldn't say Johnson is much improved over last year. He is better, but not drastically so.

The key player for Prin is Chris Watts. He needs to have a big game for the Panthers to have a chance against the squads ahead of them in the standings.

Johnson for Prin. is a pretty good player. If I remember from last year he needed some more help to get them in the win column. FU, I don't think had much trouble with them last year at their house. It seems like a hard place for FU to play. Hard rims and the expansive end space in the gym. FU is at home I don't think this time they'll have trouble with Prin. Look for more subs on the FU side for experience, rest, and just general time on the floor.
Is the freshman forward going to play for FU. He's had some injury tough luck. It's got to be frustrating for him.

fu 100-66 .....mccoy 44 points.....13 threes....new school record for fontbonne!

The following was sent to the Post-Dispatch. Let's see if it gets in the morning paper.

Dec. 12, 2008 - Fontbonne University junior guard Patrick McCoy set a school and conference record with 13 three point field goals to lead the Griffins to a 100-66 win over Principia College. The win improved the Griffins' record to 9-3 overall and 4-1 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. McCoy went 14-23 from the field and 13-20 in three-point field goal attempts for a total of  44 points. Fontbonne junior forward Justin Storandt pulled down 16 rebounds in the game, after an 18 rebound effort in his last game.

I might add the Griffin's tied the conference record with 18 3's as a team. Fogerty had 13 pts. (6-10), Branch added 13 and 7 assists. Freshmen Ben Rapp played a great 19 mins. with 5 assists and 0 to's and Frank Sheetz added 8 pts. 2-3 from behind the arc.

McCoy is on fire in 2008. In three games he's gone 25-38 from 3's. Today he was 12-15 before going 1-5 in getting the record. The old record was held by Coach's son Dino, who was in attendance.

It's tough to try and zone this squad.

Congrats to Patrick McCoy. Would have loved to see that. It overshadows a fine 29 point performance by Webster's Ryan Turk.

FC - I prefer my crow baked, not fried, covered with a fine wine sauce.   ;D ;D
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

Hopefan - Would like a Hemlock martini with your meal or maybe a nice glass of whine. ;D

Patrick's 13 3 pts. is the second highest this year nationally. Grinnell's Grotberg went 14-38 in that infamous game against North Central (MN,), earlier in the season.

I hope they don't wait until the Dec. 13, 2008, paper to publish it.

Yes Pat I just noticed that. It did appear today in a small corner. You'd think with Mizzou, Illini, and SLU all falling out of the top 100 RPI's, the d3 teams in STL could get a little something. Would you rather pay $20+ to see SLU score 20 pts. Or, one of the four d3 teams in the area for free?

Pat Coleman

Sounds like a column. If only you could get Bryan Burwell to tear his eyes off the big-money athletics for a while.

Where I used to work they had a file of Bryan Burwell misspellings and grammar errors that had gotten caught before getting into the paper.

Thanks for posting about the 13 threes here, by the way. I added it to the front page. Wouldn't have known anything about it otherwise. I think the league is autoposting box scores on the site through Presto but we're not getting many game stories.

Thanks Pat!!! I'll mention the the game notes to our SID. I try to not overload you with info. I don't think I've sent you anything of real importance since the Fontbonne Women of 2001 (Wash U. upset and sweet 16). It's been my policy to only get you items I think you'll find news worthy. Like the nice article you wrote on Terrance Lovette last year in the People you will meet at the National Tournament. It seems very selective items get much more attention then anything and everything. As always you've been very kind to the athletes of our institution. Believe me you and your staff are very appreciated around Fontbonne.
