Mr. Ypsi

fcnews,

The other coach Bob Knight most reminds me of (and one he greatly admired) was Woody Hayes - both fabulous coaches, honorable men, and who's tempers several times took them over the edge (and who lost their dream jobs because of it).  Now that time has passed, I'm sure the most prominent defining memories of Woody are the greatness (and of course the Woody-and-Bo rivalry), not the broken sideline markers.  (Punching the Clemson player, which cost him his job, will forever remain a stain, but it certainly doesn't define the man.)

I'd guess the same will be the legacy of Coach Knight.  The all-time records for wins (which probably only Coach K has any chance of surpassing in the foreseeable future) and the graduation rates will (at least eventually) define him far more than his temper.  With the passage of time, those incidents (except perhaps the punching of the Clemson player and the Puerto Rican cop) seem almost charming! ;)

For the record, I've always been an admirer of Coach Knight (though I might want to be wearing a football helmet if I ever met him ;D).

Very well said Mr Ypsi. Coach Knight did more with less then any coach. And Sac - Who is Neil Reed ? Just kidding. Neil knew full well what he was in for. So is everyother player that has gone to play for him. Him and Alford had their moments, but you can tell what Alford thought of him by last nights comments.

He is one of the Old Guard gone. But, he won't be forgotten by my generation of players and fans.

Clarification on my earlier post. After talking with the station only the Fontbonne-Webster men's game will be broadcast.

I have established a contact at the Westmin - Maryville game, so will be able to pass along that score to all those interested at the FU-WU game.
(I WILL be at WU-FU, though will attempt to maintain a neutral rooting interest for fear of retribution!!!!)

See you all tomorrow night....   WUSID i'll bring that half time and final score over to your table should you want to put it out to your listeners....

Retributin???? After the softball you tossed Coach Rogers. I'm beginning to think Hopefan is confused. Maybe he's just waiting for his universal hitch to be installed on his Bandwagon. LOL ;D You know I'm just taking a fun shot at you. We all know who your pulling for tomorrow night.

WU_SID

Thanks for the offer hopefan. We have internet access in the gym so I'll be periodically checking the scores from around the conference as I get the chance. It should be an exciting game and I can't wait for it.

fcnews

It's a big contest at Maryville tomorrow night. As for as the conference tourney is concerned, it is a much bigger game then the game at WU. Can MU win putting up 34 3's? Not hardly!!! Will MU make some changes? I'm not sure.

Webster University will offer live stats for the games tomorrow night. Click on the following link

per the Prin site  -  Prin beats Mac last night 92-81   -  two very impressive showings in a row for Prin (with the close loss at Webster last Saturday)   -  could they be the team that throws a monkeywrench in the standings with a potential upset of one of the teams competing for the fourth spot in the playoffs????

The Gorlok is mentioned (just named) in an ESPN article (http://sports.espn.go.com/travel/news/story?id=3224604&lpos=spotlight&lid=tab8pos2) and of course it's spelled Gorlock, but the number one mascot name is the UC Santa Cruz Bananas Slugs. Which by the way defeated our Lady Gorloks womens soccer team 2 years ago in the 2nd round of the National Tourney. FU/WU tonight!

The Westminister at Maryville game should be live on Saintscast tonight as well for anyone wanting to tune in.

I have decided to miss the Duke-UNC game, im a HUGE UNC fan, to go to the WU game tonight so i hope i see a great game and a WU win. Should be fun! Anyone else going?

hopefan

I'd imagine most St Louis posters will be there  -   Look for the oldtimers sitting top row centercourt across from benches and you'll likely find hopefan, furbug, yjak, and maybe even fcnews  -  stop and say hi.....

Wow this board is quiet today considering the magnitude of tonites two match ups.

Big game tonight.  I will be listening to it via the internet.  I hope the Gorloks remain undefeated in conference.  It should be a tough game -- it always is when these 2 schools hook up!
