Agreed.  I vote for the return of fcnews.  Do we need to have caucuses first?  How many votes does it take?  COME BACK FC

Regarding those rankings supplied by buncherrific, if you go to the link he provided and look at the list, Wash U is #1. Of course things might change, but probbly not much, by the end of the season.

hopefan

Which means Wash U's opponents (regional) have the highest winning % in the country - reflective of the very strong contingent of UAA teams, playing the likes of Augustana and Plattville, and playing Fontbonne and Webster, the two SLIAC leaders.   What's more impressive is that they have the high winning % against these teams....

oops, sorry, this is the SLIAC room, but we can consider Wash U an 'affiliate member' for posting reasons.... ;D

I'm telling you, we all have to bombard FC with emails!!!!!!
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

Final from Webster Grove, Missouri

Webster 82, Greenville 64 (F)

Much closer than the score indicates.  Webster defense came out big in the second half.  I'll go into more detail later.

Pride, you stole my thunder. Defense was definitely the key for Webster in the 2nd half. They were practically sleep walking on defense most of the first half allowing the Panthers to get way too  many open looks and shoot nearly 58%, including 7-12 3 pointers. Halftime was 38-36 Greenville. But Webster took the lead early in the 2nd half, went out to a 9 point lead that got cut to 4, but from then on the lead kept growing.

Ben Cochran for Greenville is a really nifty player -- quick, nice shot (27 points, I believe), tough defender, and will pick your pocket if you're not paying attention. Chris Hohm had a couple of impressive blocks in the first half.

For Webster it was another solid team effort. Turk had 23 points, I think. And I believe Kuhn and Stiegemeir both scored in double figures. Haven't seen a box score, so don't know if anyone else did. Hoggat was close.

great game between Greenville and Webster tonight.

I completely agree with panther. The scoreboard really doesnt show how close this game was.

Cochran had 24 points and Ellis had 10 for Greenville.
Turk had 25 points and Kuhn had 14.

Webster's D stepped up big in the 2nd half after trailing by 2 at the break.

Meeh saw a lot of playing time for the Gorloks in this one. I am personally looking forward to seeing both Cochran and Meeh mature and play more in the future, as they are both freshmen.

Team effort gets Webster the win. 11th straight (longest winning streak in team history) and 17th straight conference win (also a school record)....

Maryville upsets Fontbonne on a last second three.

Westminster handles Principia at home.
Andrew Buxton had 30 points and went over 1000 points for his career.  Congratulations to him!

Eureka 88, MacMurray 64

Great shooting night for the Red Devils in this one, going 12-17 on 3-pointers in the 2nd half and 16-28 in the game. Darnall, Kowalski and Wildenradt were very hot in the game, combining to go an amazing 13-16 from long range.

It looked like this one was headed for another 2-OT finish with EC up just 1 after a close 1st half, but EC was on fire in the 2nd half scoring 50 points. Tough break for Mac. When any team shoots like EC did from behind the arc, it makes for a long night at the office.

Eureka's road for the post season got thrown a curve with Maryville's win at Fontbonne. This may force EC to beat both Westminster and Greenville OR beat Webster to get. Still some ball to be played, but it's looking like MU will finish 9-7 and have the tie-breaker over EC should they also be at 9-7.

The Red Devils need another effort Saturday like they had tonight. Westminster's defense was tough in the 1st go-round and I would expect a similar effort Saturday.

In the interest of my being consistent on a particular point, Webster's 17 game conferennce winning streak is a REGULAR SEASON streak. I have pointed out repeatedly that the Maryville women's 73 game streak is aslo a REGULAR SEASON streak. The MU women lost to Webster in the conference tournament championship game in 2005. The Webster men lost in the semi-finals of the conference tournament last year to Fontbonne.

I think my point in this is that tournament games are conference games, just not regular season. I think these winning streaks need to be described as exactly what they are, regular season streaks. To me, ommiting those words gives a false impression of what that record is.

pantherpride06

Maryville Sports Information is calling is just as your described, y_jack_lock.  A Regular Season Streak.  See below...

Pride, yes I know that Maryville has been very specific about referring to it as a regular season winning streak in their press releases, but this has not been picked up by the local StL media (Post-Dispatch and t.v. stations primarily). And they have been getting some much deserved coverage for this accomplishment.

Its also not worded correctly on d3hoops.

interesting.

frost bite

Just wanted to echo juniormint's comment on the congrats to Andrew Buxton on hitting the 1,000 point mark in last night's game. A great accomplishment considering he missed more than half of his junior year due to an injury.

Another senior from WC had an impressive game, Landon Kurz had 9 assists and 0 turnover's.  Kurz has been impressive all year with his ability to get the so called "little things" done. Schram and House also had good games. Senior leadership could be the difference for WC heading into the conference tourney.

well said frost bite...are you a westmo fan?

where did fcnews go?  ive been off the board for a while...sorry
