How many times a year do you get to use that one Old School. At least I said it in March. 330+ didn't make it out of February.

fcnews

Since this board has gone to sleep for the season, I guess this will be my last post, also.

Fontbonne University adds another newcomer to the 08-09 season outlook.
Colton Bailey - 6'5 small forward from Zalma, HS. (Zalma, MO.) Bailey is a great scorer who can play with his back to the basket or from the perimeter. His athletic ability is his biggest upside. His HS coach, Steve Wells, says he has an unbelievable vertical.

Zalma is in the basketball rich southeast Missouri area, where Coach McKinney got his start.

One last comment: Whoever is trashing Hopefan's Karma, please lighten up. You've chased off our most dedicated poster. He takes this kind of thing personally. Unlike myself who could care less.

+1 k for you Hope.

BunchTime

FC, I agree.  Karma is the most juvenile thing I have seen in quite some time.  I didn't realize that Hope was leaving us.  I just gave him +1 karma as well, maybe we can get him back up to snuff and he will hop back on the train.

Also, fc, how is post-hoops life treating you?  Pretty boring I am sure.  Always seems like after hoops there is so much free time.  You really realize how much even a fan puts into it when the season comes to an end.

fcnews

Bunchtime - Hopefan takes that stuff personally. I'm starting to recharge after the let down. With recruits on campus it kind of makes you excited about next year.

fcnews

Wow, Bunchtime is that you slapping my Karma. I dropped 3 today, 1500 posts and a plus 9 K. ;D ;D I guess I need to kiss up more. >:( >:(

BunchTime

FC, I just bumped you back up to 10 my friend.

fcnews

Thanks Bunchtime +1 k for you too. It felt like my head was slipping under the water. If you get to 0 do you get sent down to d3hoops AAA? :D

pantherpride06

I want to know i fcnews is planning on traveling with the Women's Lacrosse team out here to the Great Northwest as the Lady Griffins (0-1) take on my Loggers (1-1) in women's lacrosse this weekend... :)

fcnews

Sorry Pride won't be making the trip. I missed this one, didn't even know they were coming.

pantherpride06

Yeah, nice little western road swing.  Puget Sound, Pacific (Ore), Dallas, and Linfield I believe.

"No Karma For You"

y_jack_lok

I agree w/BunchTime that this karma business is a bit silly. I say leave hopefan alone. He'll come back.

hopefan

It's time for hopefan's team review - Who's leaving, who's coming back - if the team's roster shows a player as a senior, I assume he's graduating - if it shows us an underclassmen, I assume he's coming back.  Feel free to let us know if someone has an extra year!!!  Obviously the writeups do not include any new incoming frosh.

Teams are reviewed in alphabetical order.

Blackburn  loses 4 seniors  :  Bryan Waters  11.3 ppg, 4 apg;  Ryan Smith 7 ppg, 4.3 rpg;  and Grant Lamsargis 11.3 ppg, 5.8 rpg;  and limited duty James Bragg.

Returning for the Beavers are Guards Blake Doerhing 6.9 ppg and Kyle Willis 5.5 ppg amd starting forward Tommy Baro  8.4 ppg and 5.2 rpg.... also big men off the bench Josh Dean and Obie Farmer.  Also I believe I heard Blackburn will have a new coach.

Eureka lost only one senior, team leader Matt McComb  11.7 ppg, 3.5 rpg, 3 apg
Lots back - starters  Mark Darnell 13.3 ppg  3.8 rpg;  Brady Willenbrandt p.9 ppg, 2.8 apg; Mike Zasada 11.6 ppg  8.7 rpg, and Chris Beecher 5.6 ppg 4.4 rpg  -  also regulars off the bench James Kowalski  5.9 ppg, Seth McCoy, and Craig Black

Eureka has the returning talent to challenge for a top four finish next year.

Greenville loses four seniors, but has some nice talent returning.
Leaving are do everything guard Chris Simmons  9.9 ppg 4.4 rpg, 3.7 apg; Ben Henshold 7 ppg 1.8 rpg, big man Darin Williams, and New Yorker Brad Mutton.   Returning are 1st team All Sliac LaPhonso Ellis 14.6 ppg  5.9 rpg, and SLIAC Newcomer of the year Ben Cochrane  13.3 ppg 3 apg, as well as Stephen Groves 6.2 ppg, Terrance Crosby 6.8 ppg, Chris Hohm 3.8 ppg, and other bench players Andy Traeger and Dave Gregornick.

Just as we have written the last couple of years, it seems like Greenville is just one good BIG man away from challenging for a 1,2,3 finish

Fontbonne loses SLIAC Tourney MVP (and my choice as a first team all SLIAC performer though incredibly ignorred by the coaches) Chad Fournie and big man off the Bench Jon Dressler.  An All SLIAC group returns :  SLIAC MOP Brian Fogerty 18.9  ppg 7.7 rpg, NCAA ALL Regional Tourney selection Justin Storandt (another personal First team All Sliac Selection) 8.4 ppg, 9.9 rpg, All Sliac 2nd teamer Patrick McCoy  15.7 ppg; and All Sliac 2nd teamer Josh Branch 17.3 ppg.  Add Abyu Abozen who did a great job of filling in when McCoy went down with a wrist injury, Frank Sheetz who shot over 50% from 3 point land  in limited duty, and Ben Rapp who got time at guard.

No question who will have the bulls eye on their back next year.

MacMurray loses two top scorers  in Neil Compton  17.7 ppg  6.6 rpg and Billy Long 12.6 ppg 4.4 rpg  and guard Demetric Hightower 3.6ppg.  Returning are big men Nick Schmidt  9.6 ppg 5.3 rpg  and Wes Littrell  6.7 ppg, and guards Adam Polston 8.2 ppg and Dustin Reiken 3.8 ppg, all of whom saw starting time, and bench players Mikie Sellers, John Fuller, and Adam Martinez.     Someone will have to take a giant step up to replace the Compton/Long duo.

Maryville loses only one senior Casey Holland 5.1 ppg, 6 rpg, but he was the heart of the team in the last 10 games of the year and will be tough to replace.
But Coach Rodgers and the Saints may be ready to reap the rewards of the multiple substitution pattern used the last two years, with as many as 15 players who saw crucial time at one time or another likely returning.  That's too many to mention all names, but I look to Aaron Steincke, Ben Koopman, Teddy McGrath,  Tyler Saxton, Jared McCoy and Matt Baker to be leaders - and don't forget the hero of the win over Webster, Big man Matt Deimeke.
Guards a plenty, great depth, Maryville will challenge Fontbonne if they can find or develop another serious rebounder

Principia loses scoring guard Chris Watts 13.6 ppg and Reeves Mc Laughlin 7.8 ppg.  Some crucial pieces coming back though, including All Sliac HM Kyle Johnson 17.3 pps and scoring guard Todd Zimmerman 15.1 ppg  and sometimes starters Justin Meyers 2.7 ppg and Chris MacWilliams 4 ppg, along with bench players Sam Douglas, 5 ppg, Ike Swiderski, and Tate Norden.

Webster loses lots of size, 3 quality players, in All Sliac 1st Teamer Brad Robinson, 10.8 ppg, 8 rpg;  All Sliac second teamer Darin Hoggatt 11.9 ppg, 3.8 rpg, and 6th man Corey Kuhn, 6.1 ppg, 2.5 rpg.
But Coach Bunch and Webster has a lot coming back, led by All Sliac first teamer Ryan Turk 14.2 ppg, 3 apg.  Also back are starters Steve Hrdlikca 7.4 ppg and 4.2 rpg; and Luke Niebrugge 7.3 ppg  3.5 rpg  as well as regulars off the bench Josue Whitcombe  6.2 ppg  3.7 rpg, Doug Stigenmeier, Eric Paradoski, Kyle Regan, Ryan Jungk, John Ortwerth and Tyler Tieman, and several frosh who saw action at the end of the year.
Losses are crucial, but Webster is still a top 3 Sliac team, though 16-0 will be too much to ask for

Westminster  -  No team lost as much in a senior class- 4 starters in First team All Sliac Andrew Buxton 15.9 ppg 5.1 rpg; Landon Kurz 6.9 ppg and leading assist man, Cade House 6.3 ppg 3.6 rpg,  and Dylan Schram 5.8 ppg 5.1 rpg and two bench players Daniel Toosley and Spencer Daniels.
Westminster Coach Mitchell used his bench significantly though, and experience does return.  Key is shooter Jason Warncke  10.8 ppg 3.6 rpg, as well as players who saw good time as reserves, Kurt Kovach, Ty Cochrane, Ky Millard, Mike Crawford 4.2 ppg, 2.2 rpg, Kurt Kuschel and Buddy Sodeman

The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

fcnews

Nice to see your back Hope, +1 k for the informative post. Fontbonne has two more recruits to get through financial aid and they will call it a good recruiting year.

Just a note: Patrick McCoy moved to number 7 on the D3 3pt. fg% list. That's two Salem, MO.  kids in the top ten in the past two years (Trevor White last year).

fcnews

Sorry, I have to wait 24 hours for that +1 K. We'll have you back to 70 before you know it.
