FC, I will make an inquiry about Collins and let you know.  Nevertheless, it looks like Webster recruited plenty of talent.  I continue to be impressed by Coach Bunch and Seiner's ability to recruit, and to recruit such a geographically diverse group!

I noticed that Webster's coaching staff now includes former big men, Hogatt and Brad Robinson.  Looks like Webster will have plenty of resources to develop post players.

I definately agree with ya, Bunchtime. Now all they need is a former quality guard to round out the staff. I guess Brad and Darrin are on that 5 year plan. Or, are they working on their Masters.

My best figures indicate that Webster has campuses in 19 states (we won't include worldwide). The STL campus is the only one to offer athletics. (If I'm wrong please correct me Bunchtime) They used to have the Corpus Christi connection, but with campuses in CA., I'm sure it helped with the San Diego player.

I would be safe in saying that Webster is by far the most high profile (nationally) school in the SLIAC. And, now have a coaching staff that is taking full advantage of it. Kudos!!!

Bunchtime - I also didn't notice the transfer that graduated from Vianney. First, he was coming to FU cause he was a teammate with Sheetz. Then ended up going to WU cause of the Paradoski connection. And now he doesn't appear. ???

I know you have better things to do then answer my inquiries. ;D

Darrin is listed as an assistant coach, Brad is listed as a "student" assistant coach. That suggests to me that Darrin graduated and that Brad is still enrolled as an undergrad.

Thanks Yjak. What is Kuhn doing these days? If memory serves me right you mentioned last year you became aquainted with the family.

We had lunch with Corey's parents when they came down for a visit in July. At that time his plans were not finalized. I believe he was hoping to get a coaching graduate assistant position somewhere. I imagine his parents still read this board, so perhaps they will post an answer to your question.

Mary Hardin - Baylor opens the season ranked #10. That makes the last 30 seconds of last year feel that more painful

FC, Cyrus Collins moved to St. louis this summer and was enrolled in school when a family situation came up and he had to return to MN.  As for as Jason Smith of Vianney, he is enrolled and will play the second semester and make an immediate impact.  I think this is a huge impact player for the Gorloks.

FC, although Webster has campuses in many states, I don't think that plays a role in recruiting.  As for as I know, I have never heard any connections through Webster's other campuses.  Most of their other campuses are so small, it is likely that a  San Diego resident has never heard of Webster University.

I know Coach Bunch and Siener do a lot of internet recruiting, along with phone calls to coaches, players, and parents.  They really have a niche at getting some of these guys in big metro areas that often get overlooked.  Like all DIII programs, Webster doesn't allocate loads of resources to recruiting, so you have to be innovative.  Often times, I believe that Webster is first in talking to a kid, which goes a long way towards landing a potential recruit.

Bunchtime - Beleive me I'm not taking anything away from Webster's recruiting efforts. I had just thought at one time, back in the day, I was told that if an athlete enrolled at one of the other campuses they were encouraged to come to STL. Which totally makes sense. It's hard to imagine the San Diego kid flew under anyones radar. Just good recruiting.

BunchTime

FC, I understand.  I don't really know how the other campuses work.  Personally, I have never heard of a basketball recruit coming to the STL campus as a result of enrollment at another campus.  It sure would be nice if there were an administrator at each campus encouraging good ball players to enroll  at the Webster campus.

Thanks for the info Bunchtime. Not to long till we have actual games to discuss.

I dont think the Cali kid flew under anyones radar.  Maybe he liked what Bunch, Siener and of the course the school had to offer.

If any recruit over 6'5" did their homework about the team they would see that they would have a chance to make immediate impact with the graduation of Hoggatt,  Robinson, and Kuhn. Playing time is a huge carrott to dangle in front of a kids face.

That's exactly what it was....good recruiting.  Scratch that, it wasn't good recruiting.  It was GREAT recruiting.

Recruiting is one thing, producing is another. Webster needs inexperienced bigs to produce right away.

Prayers go out from this poster to Coach Olson and the Arizona program. To think you have it beat (or under control ), then have to step away this close to tip off, has to be tough.
