Fellow SLIAC fans :
The SIUE site advertises both Live Audio and Live stats for tonite's game with Webster!!!
They also show tonight's program - one interesting point -Webster's roster shows all expected players with the exception of the Frosh class - only one Freshman shows and that's the Big Kid from Belleville.... Possibly Coach Bunch keeping the rest of the group together at JV level, at least to start the season out with - or perhaps allowing upperclassmen a chance to show where they're at prior to throwing the frosh into the mix.....

Hopefan, I dount Coach Bunch would be keeping all the freshamn together on the JV team, even for just the start of the season.  I know they are expecting contributions out of many of these guys.  I am guessing that it was somehow a roster malfunction since these guys are new and are not on the old roster.  If I hear anything more about this topic, I will certainly pass it on!

Of local interest, I notice in that Westminster-SIUE box score that Adam Mallette, a sophomore, had 20 minutes of playing time and scored 8 points. Adam played for Webster Groves High School, and was a senior the year before last when Webster High lost to McClure North in the state quarterfinals. Last year Webster High avenged that by beating McClure North for the state championship.

SIUE beats Webster 75-56. I listened to the last 15 minutes. Coach Bunch wasn't there, according to the SIUE announcer, due to personal reasons. In the 15 minutes I heard, 16 of Webster's 18 roster players with numbers got minutes. The only two whose names I didn't hear were Steve Hrdlicka and Justin Endo. Doesn't mean they didn't play, I just didn't  hear their names.

Side note: SLU beats Harris Stowe by 46 pts. tonight. SLU plays 12 of the 13 players on their roster. That one being Daniel Lisch. This is a great sign towards earlier discussion regarding his transfer next season to FU. Four years of basketball still intact. Barring a rash of injuries, I think this will all work out. He be nice to have with this years seniors. But, he will be a bright spot next year. This experience can only help his game.

Link to the SIUE write up of the game.
http://www.siue.edu/ATHLETIC/MBB/20082009/1105.html

Ten players registered double digit minutes, Turk being the highest at 29, otherwise it was barely over 20 for anyone. Seven players registered under 10 minutes. Hrdlicka played 3 minutes, Endo was not listed in the box score.

After the game I heard the beginning of the interview with the SIUE head coach who said the difference between this game and the Westminster game was that SIUE played much better defense. This is reiterated in the write-up.

Since the board is fairly quiet, games haven't begun and regular season discussion has yet to begin. I'd like to take this time to throw out a couple comments on this years Fontbonne senior class.

These three have proved with hard work, dedication and playing in the right system anything is possible.

Brian Fogerty - '08 POY and 2 time pre season AA. Brian was basiclly completely over looked out of Winfield High. His dedication to the weight room and long ours of conditioning and time in the gym, has made him an unstoppable under sized power forword. Unless doubled, he is to strong and has such good touch, he is just a load. With Chris Forrest, can SLIAC teams double team Brian this year?

Patrick McCoy - A small high school set shooter out of Salem Mo. Has developt into the best pure 3pt shooter in the conference last year. And a winner at the pt. guard spot. A position he has never claimed to be made for. But, has in the past accepted. How good will he be at the 2, where all he needs to concentrate on is getting open.

Justin Storandt - NCAA pod All Tourney selection. Justin was a very lightly recruited 6'7 lanky post player out of Herman High. Justin is now a 6'8 245 lb player who has been mentioned on these pages as the best SLIAC post player. And one of the best instinctive rebounders this poster has seen. He shown an interest in scoring this year and that doesn't bode well for under sized SLIAC teams.

These guys have been well coached and developted by the Fontbonne coaching staff. They have fit there game extremely well into Fontbonne's system. And, most importantly they simply hate to lose. They feel like they have a lot to prove this season in the post season and I wouldn't want to have to match up with them in the last week of Feb. (post season tourney).

But, you can't deny thier own hard work done in the off seasons to improve their strength and great conditioning.

Guys you've accomplished alot already. The best is yet to come.

Thanks to the posters for allowing me this time.

I believe the Mac @ SEMO game is being gamecasted tonite. Southeast only beat Mo. Bapt. by 8. Remember WC played them very tough last year.

The Mac game is on STL radio station AM 1380. Mac has the game tied with 8 mins. to go in first half, before SEMO just blows it open.

Has anyone but me noticed that Brady Greene is not on Mac's roster?

SEMO 51-36 halftime

Sounds like fr. Fredrick Miller had a good first half.

SEMO beats Mac 109-76 SEMO's center is serving a four game suspenesion.
Mac's Sean Knox scores 25

This board has come to a complete halt. I'll keep observing our favorite two posters over on the UAA board. When you have last years National Champion and Pre Season #1 in the same town it is easy to see why.

There was actually a reference to Wash U. getting "homered" by the ref's in the UMSL game. I know on this board that is considered fictional.
