And the four Chicagoland schools in the CCIW (North Park, Wheaton, Elmhurst, and North Central) are up against even more competition for the entertainment dollar than you have down there in the City With The World's Biggest Croquet Hoop.

Sager- We do have the Bowling Hall Of Fame. And of course, every Chicago visitor has to take in the St. Louis Cardinal Museum just to see what a World Championship Trophy looks like.  ;D

The Bowling Hall of Fame is moving to Arlington, Texas.

Word on the street is that Fontbonne has a tough scrimmage tonight against some high level competition  -  and there will be no charge!!!!
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

fcnews

It will be entertaining. No Charge and Free T-Shirts to the first 300. :)

fcnews

And a chance to see Chad Fournie one more time.

No results on the UT Martin Site yet   -   I've seen MANY D3 school sites far more informative than UT Martins - their first exhibition vs Bethel has an article about it, but no box score connected, no stats on the stats link, no game notes on that link.  There was no running score offered for today, or link to an audio broadcast.  The only way to view it was to buy a season pass......   I hope Maryville gets something on their site tomorrow or Monday....

UT Martin 121-Maryville 56 -- from the UT Martin website.

ouch - they were better when they were D3  -  never shoulda gone D2 ;D ;D

Wow - I knew UT-M was supposed to be improved this year. But, 65 points!!! We'll have to see if Coach Rogers starts up his blog again this year. No boxscore ???
Bethel is usually a pretty solid NAIA I team. But, 65.

UTM was picked to finish 2nd in the OVC behind #1 Murray State and ahead of #3 Austin Peay.

Here's a link to the article on their website about the game.

Sadly, they don't mention that Maryville is still D3 just beginning the move to D2.

We've got one right here within the city limits that we can look at -- a MLB World Championship trophy, that is, not a Bowling Hall of Fame -- and it's only three years old. But thanks for thinking of us.

The word is out that the new Bowling Hall of Fame in Arlington is going to have a hole in the roof, so that God can smell the disinfectant spray from the rental shoes. ;)

But, Greg, surely YOU can't take pride in the Southsiders' trophy! :o

(Though I suppose it is a helluva lot less painful than a (shudder) Cardinal trophy. ;))

Who said anything about taking pride in it? All fcnews said was that we should travel down I-55 to St. Loo if we wanted to see what a World Series trophy looked like. And all I said was that we have a recent one right here in the city if we really want to eyeball said trophy close up.

We could go off on some theological tangents here. In four years of league bowling I heard the name of God invoked many times, so I figured s/he was inside the bowling alley and is already familiar with the smell of disenfectant, thus rendering unnecessary the need for the hole in the roof of the new hall of fame.

But to bring it back to the proper topic, I think basketball is the Almighty's preferred sport.

The box score of MU's game at UT Martin is posted on the UT Martin site  -  ugly as expected.  I'm not going to attempt to interpret the box score as it was an exhibition - just as I didn't discuss anything in the Fontbonne box score.  The major positive was Kyle Winters - He is listed as a tranfer from SIUE, but wasn't talked about in Maryville's preseason article, so I don't even know if he played at Edwardsville - for an unknown to come up with 15 points in a game like that lends some hope for the future - unfortunately he appears to be another off guard where there are a host of guys looking for time.   I also liked Ben Koopmans stats - the fact that he only played 10 minutes but got to the line for 6 fts along with a hoop means he must have been very active.....
