Mr. Ypsi

Greg, thanks for the info - I didn't know that about either NebWes OR AndOne!

Mr. Ypsi

fcnews,

Every board needs its 'village idiot' (keeps life interesting) - dennis is ours! ;)

CCIW Chat (other than dennis) welcomes you any time you decide to return.

It's easy to mix up Mississippi College and Millsaps College: Same initials, and the two campuses are only separated by about nine miles.

Webster has gone and added a descriptive game notes link to their website.  They breakdown the two upcoming games.

If some posters take a look and see the projected starters for Webster I'm sure that you are pretty shocked. Turk and Luke are a given but the addition of Robby Meeh, Nick Jones and freshman Kevin Miller are a little unexpected.  All three are making their first collegiate start (if that is the starting five).  Robby and Nick have really improved over the summer and fall.  Both have taken their game to another level.  Nick Jones is going to impress a lot of people with how athletic he is as well as his shooting touch.  Robby is just a rock with an automatic mid range jumper. Miller, with the departure of Diemeke from Maryville, is the biggest body in the SLIAC.

You might ask yourself where are Hrdlicka, Whitcomb, or Steigemeir?  Hrdlicka missed a lot of practice time due to a broken nose. Whitcomb, has been hampered by a hamstring injury.  Steigemeir, is more vauluable off the bench.  All three of these guys will contribute this weekend.  There is no question about that.

Thanks to everyone and helping me understand where NebWes comes from and the previous success.  Makes me even more nervous for tonight's contest.  They have a biggin' roaming the paint.  Hopefully the new faces can slow him down a bit.

Interesting starting lineup. Most of last year's freshmen, except for Robbie Meeh,  didn't see a lot of playing time -- well, Matt Trippet got in a fair amount -- so I'm glad to see that Nick Jones is proving himself in practice. I've suspected that this year's sophomores would be the ones to surprise us fans and hopefully the opposition since no one is talking about them.

Kevin Miller will probably be hard to push around in the paint and has the bulk to inch his way back to the basket if guarded by someone not as hefty. Should be fun to watch.

Eureka has a quick turn-around as they play 2 games this weekend at the Illinois College Tournament.

The Red Devils have added some athleticism this season with the addition of freshmen Andy Leppard and Jordan Kindred and transfer Kameron Bell.  That said, EC still didn't match up too well with the athletes Western put on the floor Wednesday. At the end of the day, I think that was a big factor in the game. Eureka had too many turnovers (17 including 10 in the 2nd half). Offensively, the Red Devils show a lot, especially with their outside shooting. They also played much better defensively in the second half outside of picking up a few too many fouls that put WIU on the line when they wheren't getting anything from the field.

Eureka's first round match up is against Benedictine Friday night. This will be a very tough game as the Eagles were barely picked behind Aurora in 2nd place of the NAthCon. They have already picked up 2 wins, bombing Lake Forest and topping Beloit in a surprisingly close game over a team that won just 4 times last year. Still, Benedictine led by double figures late. Anyway, this could be the 1st of 2 meetings against Benedictine, who is also in the Elmhurst Tournament later with EC. This should be a very even event with Illinois College and Earlham as the other 2 squads.

Westminster losses by 33 at home. Ouch, didn't see that coming.

Should of, WC loss by 24 on the road last year.

FC, I believe that counts as a neutral court game for Westminster since it was part of a classic at Rhema Bible College.

Webster loses to Nebraska Wesleyan 69-60. The first 5-6 minutes were great. Webster took a 19-6 lead with Turk hitting 4 3s. Then NWU decided to guard him and he had two points the rest of the game, which I think were free throws. NWU also decided to defend everyone else as well and open shots became tough. Kudos to NWU on a game well played. Webster is still experimenting and learning to play together. The offensive tempo was quicker than in the past few years, which is nice to see. Now it's a matter of perfecting it.
