HCAC, here's the final part of my post: "But on Saturday afternoon Mac was clearly the better team. As I said about Blackburn, if anyone has chalked up Mac as a probable win on their schedule they'd best get out their eraser."

I thought that would count as giving them credit. Perhaps not from your point of view? And the "what if" was not intended as an excuse for Webster. I said they missed too many makeable shots. There is no excuse for that. And yes, Mac missed some easy shots, too, but not as many as Webster. So, just as if Webster had made more of their makeable shots, if Mac had made fewer of their's that, too, would have changed the dynamic of the game. But that isn't the way it happened, and Mac was the better team on Saturday.

But I will nit pick a teeny bit -- the margin was 14 (72-58) not 16.  :)

Also, Congrats to Fontbonne's Chris Forrest for being named POW. Well deserved He's bounced back from the year off well.

The Rust win sets up the first ever undefeated Wash U vs. undefeated Fontbonne game.

#1 Ranked Wash U. last years National Champs vs. The SLIAC's Fontbonne.

Now that has to be a David and Goalith story. Schools seperated by 40 meters. And, it's not the possible last game of these Seniors careers, no pressure, just go out and play. They are #1!!!

HCACBBALL

Yjack, you got me!!!!  I just do not like "what if's."  If it came down that to that I would be a millionare!!!! Just kidding.

y_jack_lok

HCAC, glad we got that behind us.  ;) Time to move on to the remainder of the season.

I would like to present YJak with this weeks "Ironman Award". 2 FU games (men and women), 2 WU games (men and women) and a Wash U game. Heck of a week. Poor Hopefan pulled a DNF. Get better Hope, this is a bad time of the year to be sick.

One more thing on last nights game. I told Yjak prior to the game that I thought Storandt could give Rust's Marcus Erves a tougher game.  Erves a very athletic post had 17 and 7 against WU in 20 minutes play. Erves had 3 pts and 2 rebounds last night in 26 mins. Great job Justin.

Five big games for the SLIAC coming up :

Tonite Blackburn @ Milikin (6-0)
12/10 #2 Wheaton @ Webster
12/13 Fontbonne @ #1 Wash U.
12/16 #7 Elmhurst @ Fontbonne
          #9 Augie @ MacMurray

hopefan

I hated missing the games - proud of Yjak for hitting them all (though am not sure he hit the trifecta on Sunday going to Hamillton - Ill Wesleyan).  FC, actually took your words to heart - didn't want to spread whatever bug I have around, but did lug it into work both days.

Can't wait for Saturday Font vs Wash U - also hope to be able to see Wheaton -  Webster tomorrow, but will have to wait and see....  Will have my 10 giant steps to a Fontbonne win posted by Thursday.....

You know I was looking at the SLIAC schedule, now with the assumption that we may have one top team, one bottom team, and 7 teams competing for spots 2-4 - what a fun Jan -  Feb it could be - There would be a meaningful game in St Louis EVERY league night - Really hope it continues to work out that way......
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

My 10 Giant Steps are: Hit the first shot of the game. Then take 10 giant steps to the light switch.

Question: If Fontbonne splits with Wash U. and Elmhurst and beats RHIT on the road. Will they be considered for top 25 votes? Not a spot. Votes.

y_jack_lok

Looking at the top 25 there are an additional 26 teams that received votes in the poll. That means 51 teams were considered to have top 25 potential across the spectrum of those who cast the votes. Clearly the dust has not settled on which teams belong there. The list of "others receiving votes" will get likely smaller as the season progresses. But at this moment, given that so many teams are perceived as possible top 25 teams, and knowing a little about some of the teams in the other 26, I'd say that if the scenario plays it out as fc hypothesizes, then FU could certainly garner some votes.

FINAL

I listened to the final eight minutes of this contest on WGRN 89.5.  I'd like to say that I appreciate WGRN for covering the game and I hope they plan to do more.  I love listening to my Panthers!!!

Sounds like all the Panthers got some action.  Ben Cochran had a big night with 18 and LaPhonso Ellis with 17.  More when the box comes out.

Hey guys,

It's been a while since I've posted and I wanted to do two things. I have a question for you all and also some news to pass along.

First the question. What do you think the identity of Webster University's men's team will be without the presence of a true big man?

Wednesday 1/28 - vs Westminster (Both)

I am a bit spoiled for a D3fan, and I can't even remember the last time there wasn't a Wheaton basketball broadcast or videocast that I could tune into. However, there apparently isn't one for tonight. So I was about to come on and ask if Webster has one, and here was the info just waiting for me. Thank you! :)

J_clem, welcome back.  I am pleased to hear that the Galaxy will again be broadcasting some of the Gorlok games.  It is always nice when I can tune into a game or two.
