The hopes of those of us who want to see the SLIAC Tourney in the STL, rides on the the next conference dates. Can MU get back on track and get a road win @ WC on Saturday. Then there is the HUGE FU @ WC game next wednesday nite. If WC goes 2-0, we may need to start looking at hotel availability in Fulton.

With two games remaining in the first half I see 3 players in the running for Newcomer of the Year. My picks would be Winters (MU), Crawford (WC) and Forrest (FU). Anyone have any thoughts?

I would rule out Winters immediately - nice player, but nowhere near the impact of Crawford and Forrest - in fact, I'd go with Simmons of Maryville before Winters.  You also should add Vislay of Westminster to your list- he doesn't start, but is scoring double digits Coach Mitchell raves about him.  I haven't seen Vislay or Crawford yet - but they might get an edge if Westminster goes on to win Conference - as this was a team written off in preseason with 4 graduating starters.

Hope I will take your opinion on Winters. You have seen alot more games then I have. Conference awards are based on conference only stats. At this moment Forrest is the conference leading scorer and shooting at an unbelievable 72%. These may be MVP stats not to mention NOY. I'm looking forword to seeing the two kids from WC. Simmons would be a stretch.

Can MU play with WC without Stienke? Will Stienke play Saturday? Can MU stay in the hunt for a SLIAC title or even a tourney berth without him?

hopefan

Steinke will not play Saturday  -  I am going to Fulton hoping for a close game, but I'm not so sure - the more MU goes inside to Simmons Baker Dulle, the better chance they'll have - unless Winters and Grunewald start finding their range again..  Winters hasn't shot well since the Eureka game, Grunewalde even before that......   I've got a feeling Westmin can pressure MU into turnovers.....  Without Steinke, I thing MU will have to play much better than in their last two games to make the top four....

I'm going to say this again... and I know coming from a guy at Greenville, it's hard for me to say and fcnews' head is going to get big....

Coach McKinney - I spoke with him in length today at the NCAA Convention (Washington, DC).  What an absolutely great guy.  Even though my first run-in with him wasn't as pleasant.  He's probably one of the best ambassadors for the SLIAC and NCAA III as you will ever see.  It's always a pleasure speaking with him.

Commish Wolper - After communicating strictly via e-mail, I finally met Will today before the SLIAC Meetings.  Great guy!  It's was a super pleasure getting to know him.  He seems to have a good, young vision on what can be done in the SLIAC.

Two big match ups Saturday in conference play. MU @ WC and GC @ MC. Can EC climb back into the race with a win at WC. You would think there would be more conversation.

juniormint

Maryville (Mo.)   Westminster (Mo.)  - Should be a good game, I will try to post some information if I get it, I cant make the game.  Westminster's depth should prove too much for MU.

Greenville   MacMurray - You really cant tell with these teams...Mac is tough to beat at home, Greenville needs this win to stay confident near the top.  Mac needs it to climb back towards the top.  I'll go so far as to say this is a must win for Mac at home, or they will be in a world of trouble with all the talent ahead of them.

Blackburn   Lincoln Christian - Could be tough for BC to win at LC

Principia   Fontbonne - things dont get any easier for prin

Eureka   Webster - Webster seems to be playing better, I dont think they allow EC to pull a road one out but EC will probably hang around til the end.

WC MU were tied at half.

WC up 58-53 5mins to go

juniormint

WC's Vislay hits 2 to put WC up 3 with about 10 seconds. MU's Winters hits 3 to tie, send to OT.

In OT WC stretches lead, last I knew they were shooting 2 FT's up 7 with 13 secs left.  Mike Crawford came through for WC according to my source.

Boy we've had some posters go by the wayside. My favorite Bunchtime, and Buncheriffic, BLA and Razor Back just to name a few.
