i guess it was kind of taken a little to far, i am not saying any of the athletes in the sliac are a joke. i am a former sliac athlete and wouldnt want that said to me or about me. i guess its the fact that im just a bit upset with the performance of a couple of certain teams that i expect to do well. i meant no harm to any of the athletes because i know the hard work and dedication that goes into your sport that is ALWAYS overlooked by many people.

Well, you're obviously not a troll, so I take back what I said. However, if you really want to demonstrate that you care about the SLIAC, stick around and become a permanent part of the conversation in here. This room could certainly use some more regular posters, and the room's mainstays such as hopefan, fcnews, and y_jack_lok would be the first to agree with me on that.

Congrats to Jordan Kindred SLIAC player of the week

MEN'S BASKETBALL
Eureka College's Jordan Kindred, a freshman from Chrisman, Ill., has been named the SLIAC Men's Basketball Player of the Week for the week of January 12-18.

Kindred, a 6-0 guard, led the Red Devils with a game-high 20 points in their 80-76 victory versus Webster University last week. His 20 points was a career-high, and he also made a career-high eight field goals and four three-point field goals, including shooting 5-of-6 (.833) from the field in the first half. Kindred also added three assists, two steals and one rebound in the win.

Geez. A lot of angst coming from the self proclaimed "one and only"

Who did you think was going to be better this year?

Westminster lost pruductive seniors and still stand at the top with some impressive victories.

Fontbonne has their core back with the addition of Forrest.  Sure they hit a bump in the road but they have responded. A sign of a good, tough and competitive team.

Maryville has had stretches of the season so far where they were playing well.  They just lost to rivals in conference and had one of their best players make a bone head decision from what I hear. The consequence of that decision finds himself at home hurtin his team.

Mac has played better but got bit by the semester bug along with suffering a injury that might be tough for them to overcome. BUt if they had the team they started the season with you would never know. Not to mention that are still playing hard. And will be a tough team to beat.

Greenville has already beat one of the top teams in the conference and to me it wasnt a surprise that they could do that. They play tough.

Eureka has proved they have a lot of fight in them still.

Webster lost arguably the two best post players in the league to graduation but still find themselves in the hunt for a final four spot.

Blackburn has greatly improved. Ask any coach in the pack at 3-3 if they want to go play in the Beaver Dome.

Prin is never a given.

Not to mention Westminster  beat SIUe in a scrimmage.  FU played highly ranked Wash U and Elmhurst to the end. Webster didn't lay down for Wheaton or Wash U.  I know I'm forgetting others but what else were you expecting??? You said you played in the SLIAC and support it.  Then again what are you expecting? Please elaborate...

Lack of talent??? Really??

And that is just naming a few from each team (obviously more from the teams I'm familiar with). These players all have talent and more often than not play the best they can.

You can say what you want but back it up with some reasons so we can see where you are coming from or why you feel the way you do.

theoneandonly

#1 im assuming you have not read all of my comments.
#2 you can give me all the reasons you want, but I am still going to be disappointed in who I am disappointed in. Your reasons dont change MY mind. so figure that one out.
Its not that there is a lack of talent, just not the norm. and for someone who gets so defenesive so quickly, here are a couple of the blackburn players that you left out since you arent FAMILIAR with them
Senior Forward-Tommy Baro
Senior Guard-Frazier Simmons
Junior Forward-Rod Sikes

Thanks for trying to fill me in on the players but i think im doing alright.

Three Pretty good games tonight!

Fontbonne   Westminster (Mo.)     Looks to be the game of the SLIAC year so far, will be interesting to see how this one plays out.  The Blue Jays have been protecting the nest pretty well as of late.  It should be rockin tonight.  WC's defense might just be stingy enough to pull this one off.

Blackburn   Maryville (Mo.)
Maryville coming off a tough loss at WC should be ready to bounce back at home.  I think Blackburn has lost 5 straight dating back to that win over Concordia (MO).  You know they still respect the game and will want to earn respect tonight against the Saints.  I think Maryville's home crowd propels them to a victory tonight.

Eureka   MacMurray
Eureka coming off a big win at Webster looks to shut down Mac who still has something to play for.  A big game for both of these teams.  Its tough to see Mac losing two straight at home but I think it happens tonight.
