jr.mint- Forrest's situation had nothing to do with the actual game. He was not even able to dress. Chris has been running an extremely high temp for a few days.
There is a virus circulating the campus. Women's head coach Keith Quigley was hospitalized from it. Last night we had Zeollner vomiting on the end of the bench, Rapp was extremely dehydrated after the game and Branch was coming down with it following the game.

wow that sounds like a pretty serious bug going around. hope that doesnt spread too far.

sounds like this was a pretty intense game. Fontbonnes player went down, how is he doing now? any updates other than what has already been written on here, anyone know about surgery or anything yet?

sorry for that mix up

Sorry for the mix-up as well.  When oneandonly said "went down" I thought he meant in the game as opposed to someone being sick before the game.  My fault for assuming.

It appears Warncke is going to have surgery Tuesday.  I'm sure he and his family will appreciate your prayers.

Regarding the Fontbonne/Westminster situation resulting in Warncke's injury from a source at the game:

52 (Riva) for fontbonne found himself open under the hoop, Warncke came to help and went for a steal and was called for a foul.  Riva shot the ball and kind of lost his balance, it looked like he was going to fall and brought his right arm down to break his fall.  His right forearm/elbow caught Warncke right in the nose and it was a very, very hard hit.  The source did not think the play was dirty in any way.

hopefan

I really thought the ball was involved, but could be wrong..... As you said, however it happened, there was ZERO % of a hint of any intention..  I hate that the thought even entered the conversation.... :(

Webster has two big games coming up in the post season chase. Saturday @ Greenville and next Wednesday hosting Westminster. These are not must wins, but would put the Gorlok's in a deep hole. A split would keep them in the pack. Two wins would put them back into the hunt for a possible title.

Sorry to root against anyone, but I would like to see both STL teams in the Big Four. One reason being that I have Bunchtimes word that he will be hear for the SLIAC's Big Dance.

When you say both...do you mean Webster and Fontbonne?

I think it would be easier to be upset about a possible mention of anything intentional if you were there to see it.  The source mentioned that to me, as I relayed, just to clear up any possible rumors.  Better to knock out a chance of a rumor than to let speculation fly from anywhere, not that that would EVER happen on this board  ;).  I didn't mean to implicate anyone or say that I was clearing up a rumor....that was never the case.  No one I've talked to thought it was dirty, now we all know it wasn't (especially those of us not in attendance).

If you follow the SLIAC you have probably seen it get a little chippy in some instances in the past, I'm glad that wasn't the case here...

3 critical games tomorrow  + the 8-9 matchup of Blackburn and Prin . Not many are concerned about that one, but one of those teams will leave the gym happy to have their first SLIAC AND D3 win of the season - good luck to both.

That means the other 3 games are contender vs contender

Mac @ Maryville - Maryville played well in the OT loss at Westmin and crushed Blackburn - they now seem to have adjusted to the loss of Aaron Steincke, and hopefully are healthy.   Mac has been hanging in there - the loss to Eureka really was a close game most of the way - Mac was the first pack team to hit 4 losses; they certainly don't want to be the first to hit 5.  But for Maryville, it's a home game, another taking care of business game  -  i think the pack shrinks by one after this game

Webster @ Greenville - I'll be going over to this one - I haven't seen Greenville yet this year, and I tend to think their record is a bit inflated with a number of wins over weak teams - on the other hand they gave Westmin a heck of a game in Fulton, and have the win over Fontbonne.  Webster was flying high until their loss at home to Eureka, but that wasn't an awful loss, as Eureka is GOOD.   I think this will be a good game, Turk matches up great with Cocrane - neither team goes with size as compared to slashers.  A greenville win creates a little more space from the pack and moves Webster down a little - A webster win thickens the pack.  Important game to both teams.

Westmin at Eureka - If it weren't so far from StL, this is the one I'd go to - Westmin - wow, what will they do without Warnicke - I guess Crawford will have to take over ball handling duties, with perhaps senior role player Ty Cocrane helping  - who moves in as starter - as I said the other day, Vislay, Keuschal, Kovack could each be starters, so it really doesn't matter - they'll all get their minutes - just a big question as to who will be key ball handler. This also kills their 3 point game unless Stan Crawford finds his shot - it seemed to disappear the last week....
Eureka has been hot as of late with a four game win streak since a close loss at Maryville.  Long trip for Westmin and a critical player out of the lineup, but just a great bunch of guys...  this one is tough to call - I like 'em both  -  but how about EC in an upset.....

On the Westminster situation. It was only last year that Fontbonne lost McCoy and Rapp to broken wrists. As has been well documented on this site, FU has the weakest bench in all of DIII.  ???

FU's Aby Abozen stepped in a played 120 straight minutes with only 1 turnover from the point position. He played well until McCoy was able to return.

Good teams plugin players and find away to win. I consider WC a good team and think Coach Mitchell will have an answer to this situation.

I'm sure no one expected FU to be able to go on the road and win without Chris Forrest wednesday night.

what ever happened to Abby?   He did do a great job filling in last year...

another question FC  -  can you tell us anything about the JV season?   Are the frosh recruits who did not make the varsity getting plenty of time?   Any one impressing?

Hopefan - Aby (not Abby, she plays on the womens team) is now a student at Univ. of Missouri. JV played last nite at WU, haven't heard a score today though. There are a couple who may be able to contribute next year.

On Wed. nights big win. Hope gave a good wrap up, but I'd like to expand just a little.

FU's much talked about bench, or lack of, played a total of 83 minutes. During which scored 24 points on 9-15 from the field and 3-6 from 3's.

These guys included 2 freshmen (Zeollner and Reese) and 3 sophmores (Sheetz, Rapp and Riva). That's a pretty good showing for these young kids. And, would make up a pretty good JV starting line up.

Kudos Guy's

fcnews

Fu JV beat WU 71-68. That team did not include Sheetz, Rapp, Zeollner or Riva.

I believe that the upset will happen. As you said, Eureka is GOOD, at home and means business.
