I cant really reevaluate Forrest without actually seeing him besides going off of what you guys have posted.  I looked at his stats, I understand you guys really like the kid.  If Fontbonne is sitting at 7-1 and WC is 6-2 Forrest is first team and one of the WC kids is second team.

When I see Forrest, I will reevaluate.  Until then I put the most emphasis on the teams winning percent in conference and right now think WC players deserve more credit for the position they are in than FU's players, even though FU won head to head.

I hate how you cant reply until someone else has....I always leave something off.

I do agree that Forrest could be POY and is a great player.  It says something when you do come onto that team and step right in to lead the league in scoring.  However I would think with Fogerty's scoring, rebounding and leadership he might be more valuable to his team....which would swing my vote his way if Fontbonne won the conference.  Your thoughts FC...you know these kids much better than I.

And to shoot almost 70% from the field is a very impressive stat.

As for tomorrows games

Principia  @ Maryville (Mo.)      Maryville shoots them out of the gym...winters shoots it well.

Fontbonne @  Blackburn      Fontbonne wins a close one.

Westminster (Mo.) @  Webster     Westminster has trouble at Grant....squeaks one out finally up there.  Webster needs this one bad though IMO.

Eureka  @ Greenville  Eureka pulls the road win to make a three team log jam at 5-4

Players are rewarded for their teams ability to perform and their ability to lead that team there.  watch the heisman ceremony, player of the year in any sport.

i disagree with you one...

while i welcome your disagreement with open arms, in my opinion players are not necessarily rewarded on how they can lead their team, for the fact that it is all conference and not the league mvp. these should be the best players in the conference not judged on how thier teams are, its how they perform. If a player from principia was scoring 40 points a game but they didnt win a single game, they would not be an all conference selection? i know thats an extreme example but i feel no matter how extreme or insignificant the situation is, the best players i.e. best stats should be all conference. and the heismen and player of the year is ONE specific player. and yes that should be judged on ability to lead a team, that is why it is one player and not 5 guys, and then a second team, and then honorable mentions..that is why the sliac has an MVP to choose that player that leads his team.  the all conference team should be the best players with the best stats, just my opinion though, im willing to discuss some mor if you would like.

Ya One, I like where your heads at.  There are a few guys out there that are playing on less superior teams and I agree they deserve recognition.  But the guys that are putting up similar numbers on teams with much deeper talent deserve more recognition because there are more quality guys that are able to get it done around them.

Your extreme example reminds me of like Durant or Beasley in college.  Beasley wasnt on the best team in the Big 12 but deserved the first team and POY recognition because of the numbers he put up.

If one of these players on a worse team (we know which players we're talking about) was going for 30 and 10 a game hed be there.  But when his numbers are around the same as the other leaders in the conference and he doesnt have other guys on his team stealing stats,  I dont think he deserves to be up there with the others.

For instance you put FU or WC's best players on Mac, Prin or Blackburn I think they go for better numbers than they have now.  And the top playeres on Mac, Prin or Blackburn move to FU or WC they have mediocre numbers.  Im not trying to knock any kids...just saying the ability to win by these kids is what it comes down to for me.  Some teams have more talent than others and there's nothing these kids can do about it now but play their hearts out...and the recognition will be there at the end of the year if they do that.

i think everything you said there was good examples and yes i do agree with a lot of it, but i do think since they are all in the sliac that they do play SOMEWHAT simliar schedules. i put that in all caps because obviously there are a couple of teams out there that do have tougher schedules.. it would be great to swap players to another team for a week and see how they would play in a different environment, but i dont see that happening any time soon haha.

Commish Wolper - After communicating strictly via e-mail, I finally met Will today before the SLIAC Meetings.  Great guy!  It's was a super pleasure getting to know him.  He seems to have a good, young vision on what can be done in the SLIAC.

Pantherpride, I have great respect for you and your knowledge of the Conference but this comment really surprises me.  One thing you have right is "young."  The commissioner seems to be young but with that he is in over his head.

Is the Conference better than it was two years ago?  Heck no, it is worse at least administratively.  Since he's been here Lincoln Christian left, Maryville is leaving and the SLIAC is now expanding to Kentucky creating 6-hour trips for schools.  Two years ago we were on the verge of adding football, now we are on the verge of losing it in the Conference.  Has this kid done anything to try to save it?  He put a couple of nice quotes in a release about Blackburn.  We still don't know what's going on at Principia, at least from the Conference though some local papers have announced they were suspending.  He seems to be sitting back as things fall apart.

Does this guy ever get out to games, does he even know the student-athletes, do they know him?  He needs to get out from behind his desk to do his job right.  Previous commissioner was tremendously visible, a veteran of athletic administration and had a clue what was going on in and out of the SLIAC.  With all due respect to Eureka_SID and other SIDs, that is the commissioners background but how does that qualify him to run the conference (though he is apparently doing a great job running it in the ground).  I hope the decision makers recognize this before its too late.

The previous commissioner got on here and provided us insight, still does once in a while even retired.  I assume since this kid is a former SID he knows about this board but why is he hiding, why does he refuse to comment on peoples thoughts, concerns, etc. like his predecessor.

Sure one thing is better, the web site is updated sooner and more consistently.  Guess it shouldn't surprise us that the one area of improvement is in sports information where he spent a few years, but he's not the SID and the credit for the web site must be given to the conference SID.

Pride, I love your knowledge and insight, but you are way off here man, sorry.

Eureka  - Gville  are on or off tonight, please let us know  -  thanks

FYI  -  highways around St Louis are clear or close to clear   -   side roads are very iffy...  but all day to get cleaned up...

The following is from the Webster website as of 12:40 p.m.:

Today's St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader with Westminster is STILL ON as scheduled. The women will kick off the twinbill at 6 p.m., followed by the men at 8 p.m.

We're getting ready to pile in the bus right now, so I have to assume the games at Greenville are still on.

As far as that rant on the commish goes, I don't think the cut backs at Blackburn and Prin for football and the leaving of Lincoln Christian should be pinned on him. I would think these are institutional decisions and a commish can only react to them, not control them. While it was nice that the former commish was a contributer on this board, it's not part of their job. There is contact information on the SLIAC site if you would like any questions answered.

I agree with some of what JWJ says, especially the part quoted above. I have noticed for some time his comparative lack of visibility.

Agreed with furbug and JWJ - seeing the formercommish at many games and being able to converse with him regarding all things SLIAC was one of the things that made the conference special to me during his time in the position....  I'm still hoping to meet the new fellow and build a relationship there.....
