I'll brush your comments aside FC, but that is exactly how I met the former commish  -  He came up to me in the lobby at the Greenville College facility and noting I had a Hope sweatshirt on, asked Hey - are you by any chance Hopefan????  Enough people do read and appreciate these pages that it can happen....

The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

But, to make it sound like there is no one driving the bus, could effect potential recruits and their parents decision.

I never said one thing about nobody driving the bus. Nor did I say that the NCAA's legislation was a result of the SLIAC's action. You are reading into my posts with some personal agenda that doesn't match what I'm coming from.

Perhaps someone comes to this board and sees alarmist posts, defensiveness and poor spelling and grammar and that could affect potential recruits and their parents' decision?

My point being, neither of those is very likely. But I never said nobody is driving the bus; if you prefer that analogy, what I said was that I thought that trip was in the wrong direction.

Please SLIAC, consider encouraging William Jewell to go ahead with moving to NCAA3 and snatch them up - a perfect partner for Westminster out west, a very good academic institution, Football, and distance from St Louis no farther than Louisville and Spalding  -  think two divisions, Missouri, Illinois
Another option for Wm Jewell is to look west.

Exploratory members for 2008-09 include Wm Jewell plus Concordia NE, Doane NE, Hastings NE.  The last three schools have been in the Great Plains AC with Neb Wesleyan.  Is this a migration of the GPAC, or part of its membership, to D3?  William Jewell would make the fifth school in a new conference.  This seems reminiscent of the ASC and the Northwest Conferences.

Hope - My comment was based on the fact that no one thinks New Commish reads this site. So he would not be aquainted with who Hopefan is. I can see how the Former Commish would recognize you by your sweatshirt. As he was a frequent (and still is) visitor.

Hope, thanks for the write-up on the game.  I wish I lived closer so I could catch all these good games you keep making it to.  Sounds like WC once again found a way to let one get away there at Webster.

A quick glance at the rest of the way...Fontbonne seems to have the most favorable schedule.  It will be interesting to see where the tournament ends up.

There was some interest shown in JV action. So here is a result from last night. FU traveled to WC and came away with a 20 pt win. FU's only JV loss this year has been to Meremac CC.

who is playing for them? Who's going to impact next year ?

They traveled with 12 (I believe). Players to watch : John Reese (who's seen some varsity time), Gavin Alfred 6'4 leaper with good shooting range, Bryson Potts a solid performer who knows the game and the kid to watch John Melloway. Melloway has avg. about 25 pts. on the JV team and reminds of a Hrdelika (WU) type player. He shoots well, defends and has a nose for the ball. Several others will contribute with another good summer of work.

A.J. Brooks and Chris Hohm had big games against Eureka for Greenville in the Panthers' 84-76 win Wednesday. Brooks is a huge addition to the Greenville club. GC controlled the paint the entire game, and that was the reason for the victory. He picked up a couple fouls, but maybe needs to be playing more than 23 minitues? Maybe not if they keep playing like against Eureka.

Eureka got a good start, taking a 26-14 lead, but Greenville led at halftime 38-37.  EC fell in love with the 3-point shot, shooting 32 and making 11. Only 4 makes came after halftime.  Greenville started out slow defensively, but picked things up when they started pressing. Greenville went up by as many as 13 in the 2nd half.  Eureka tried to comeback several times, and got as close as 6. Zasada had a good look at 3 to get within 3 with about 30 seconds left, but he missed it. Zasada still had a great game though with 25 pts and 11 reb.

Webster must have done a number on Greenville defensively to hold them to 62 points Saturday.

Brooks got in foul trouble, Cochrane got out of control, Ellis never saw the ball - all in the 2nd half....  think Gville had 25 points in 2nd half - many of them by Hohm...

Ralph,

Doane, Concordia and Hastings are in exploratory phase.  However, the chances of all 3 going the D3 route is slim to none.  I could see Concordia joining the D3 level but not sure the other will follow suit.  I am sure Nebraska Wesleayan would welcome them with open arms.

Someone from Webster needs to send d3hoops an official notice that Ryan Turk scored his 1,000th point this past Wednesday so they can add his name to the list in their "Milestones" section.

When he read on this site about Coach Bunch's 100th win Pat Coleman was kind enough to do the research to confirm that and add Coach Bunch to the Milestones list. However, it would be more in keeping with protocol for someone at Webster to submit the information directly, as I doubt Pat has time to look into these matters every time he reads a post.

Congrats to Ryan, great player and a very nice young man.

For those interested: The FU vs. EC game is a 5pm start time.
