yjak - I SURELY hope that is not the reason...  that should have been done preseason, not in the stretchrun when the hopes of the kids and Maryville fans had been built up to include an appearance in the conference tourney  -  as an avid follower of the SLIAC and as a Maryville, Matt Rogers and Jarred McKoy fan, I almost feel I'm owed an explanation.....  I HAVE PAID MY $6 three different times!!!!  This is really bizarre.....
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

The FU v. MU was the last game for the trio. McCoy and Baker started and Collins saw 8 minutes off the bench. After that game they were removed from the teams roster on the website.

The question is, was their departure from the roster voluntary or involuntary?

My information is second hand. I'll see if there is a comment from a MU poster or Hopefan gets the scoop wednesday nite. Let's just say it's never good when you lose veteran players. Not matter who makes the decision.

Hopefan, what would make you think you are owed a explaination why they are not on the roster?  That thought if confusing to me.

Pat Coleman

I don't think he really feels that in that way. I think he's just venting that he has to pay to get into their games where the rest of the league doesn't charge.

Hopefan said, "almost feel I'm owed an explanation." Read it again - above. He did not say that he was owed an explanation. There is a difference. Why are we always so quick to jump on some little comment? ???

Hopefan, no offense but if you do not want to listen to the Fontbonne fans why not just sit on the other side?? I see you at a lot of games and you are always sitting right in the middle of everything.

Also have you ever really listened to the student section at Maryville or Webster?? if you are worried about sportsmanship you should surely be bothered by the personal attacks the students make against visiting teams.

Stlbballfan,

Sorry if I was quick to judge but I do know for a fact posters on here have called coaches in the SLIAC asking about their team and then get on here and criticize the coach for not calling them back.  I just want to defend the coach.  Coaches at the D3 level have many hats and work really hard.  We as fans do not need a explaination for why people are taken off the roster.  Sorry if I was quick to judge.

stlbballfan

HCAC,

You must have the wrong guy. I completely agree with you on that.

I have never found the student sections at Maryville or Webster to be out of line, or at Fontbonne for that matter. Usually there is a lot of spirit and good competitive fun. I was not at Greenville, but I went back and read that excerpt from Hopefan, and I believe that he was citing one individual, a parent, rather than the Fontbonne students.

I sit in the top row behind the benches on the side where all the other adults sit.....Where I sit does not make the actions correct STL bballfan - there is no way in the world this situation was proper (at Greenville), and I'm not going to be the bad guy for calling a spade a spade.  Nor was the situation proper at the Webster Fontbonne game where I finally outshouted an individual with one word  -  QUIET - and was given a standing ovation by several Webster fans.  If you know me, you know I'm there to root for good hoops, close games - I revel in the atmosphere, it is my guilty pleasure - I'm not there to hear someone shout into my ear at an official, making stupid statements 99% of the time.  I am not in the wrong here.  AND, I have never been bothered by a Maryville fan or a Webster fan - an ADULT sitting in the non student section.  (Well, Yjak gets carried away sometimes, but his wife calms him down.. ;D)

Students are students - we adults attempt to sit on the opposite side from them - different rules for them - I don't expect that adults should act in that same manner.... if you want to see a real student show, check out the Wash U games this weekend - the Sliac students pale in comparison.

Saying sit on the other side is ludicrous - unless you are directly linked to the individuals I speak of,you should recognize that. And if you are a member of the Fontbonne community, You could have/should have taken steps long ago to correct the activity.
It's too late now......

I'm sorry  maybe I'm a little too idealistic, and a little too prone to write real thoughts on this venue  -  but it comes from the heart....

Hopefan,

I am not at all linked to the individuals you speak of nor am I a "member" of the community. You are welcome to post what you would like and 98% of the time I enjoy your posts, but are you saying that you have never heard any other fans making "stupid" statements??

I'm aware of the situation at the Webster Fontebonne game and I will not disagree with you that sometimes people get carried away, however if we are going to pretend that the students are not adults as you say, then why read the sportsmanship letter to begin with.

My only point is I see you sit at the same location every game(not just Fontbonne games) and I read your complaints on this board and wonder why you subject yourself to the fans and dont just sit in one of the MANY lesser sections.

stlbballfan

One more thing,

at that same Webster Fontbonne game there was a grown man rooting for his Gorlocks
screaming during Fontbonne free throws, did that bother yoy at all or does it just depend on who you are sitting with???

y_jack_lok

Which Webster-Fontbonne game are you guys talking about? The one at Webster on January 7th, or the one at Fontbonne this past Wednesday, February 11th?
