WOW!  From soccer to finance - you can get good advice on this board!

What I really want to know is - Who is in the 'open' gym with the round ball at the SLIAC schools?

Welcome aboard Distantobserver.

If your looking for info we have none. I threw in some early FU news, then figured what the hell. Why give the other schools something to think about, when we've heard nothing from anyone else.

We are flexible. Pick a topic and run with it.

I've recently heard of a few of Eureka's recruits.  They brought in about 7 kids or so, mostly guards but there is 2 with some decent size 6'4 or so i think.  Should help out since eureka lost 2 of its guards in Brady Wildenradt and Mark Darnall.  Open gyms have already started and its pretty competitive from what i hear.

Dont know any names of the recruits but i know 2 are juco transfers.  hopefully they can make an intimidate impact right away probably not of Kameron Bells caliber but if they are EC can be very dangerous.  I still like them as a top 4 if not top 2 team in conf.  And they are of course my pick to win it all :)

A couple of names that I can release from this years FU recruiting class. Ronnie Rust (6'7) Forward avg. 13.7 ppg. 4.5 rbs. and hit over 40% 3pt (44 made)
Eric Hamilton (6'4) G/F avg. 10.8 ppg. 7 rbs.

Both of these kids are freshmen from Willard HS. The same program that produced Chris Forest. Rust could add a couple inches before he graduates and Hamilton is a big leaper.

This might keep the board active. For a day.

Always a good sign when a player comes from a school out of the area, and then is followed by another from his old high school   -   shows how pleased the original player is with his decision and how he's talked it up on the courts back home....  If these two have the same work ethic/demeanor as Forest, it's a HUGE plus for the program.  Congrats to Coach for closing the deal!!
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

One more for conversation purposes. Sean Gibson (Sikeston, Mo.) 6'7 post, who ranked 29th in Juco DII rebounding and shot 57% from the field. Sean played at Forest Park CC.

Would the last person leaving the room, please turn out the lights.  ???

FC  -  I've been constantly lurking, but just don't know what to talk about....  Wish we had people representing other schools who could tell us names of new players and what they're bringing to the table......

My wife and I are off to Jamaica on Saturday - a well deserved vaca as we approach 2 years of caring for her 85 year old dad - BUT - I'm taking my lap top along to keep up with any new D3hoops conversation!!!!

Hope the opening games of the soccer season go well.....

Trivia that I probably mentioned before - Bob Johnson, the coach from Emory and Henry who just passed away, was the coach who got my job after I resigned after 5 years of coaching at RPI....  not sure if he went from the RPI asst job right to Emory and Henry, or if there was another stop in between....  he indeed was a good guy - we spoke numerous times as I worked in the Troy-Albany-Schenectady area for about another year prior to moving to Michigan - and becoming.... HOPEFAN

Just an FYI the Eureka College athletic section of the EC website has been completely redone.  I'm guessing its the work of the new SID and let me tell you it is pretty nice,  I'd check it out if you have a free minute.  The new roster and schedule have not been updated unfortunately but the conference schedule seems to be complete on dIII hoops.

Sorry for the lack of info on new recruits but when i find out some names from my source i will surely put them on here.  Sounds like fontbonne has done a good job recruiting to replace the loss of size.  We'll have to see if the new guys are capable of putting up Storandt/Fogerty numbers.

How would you guys rate this years crop of seniors compared to last years?

Less than a two months till the season tips off. good luck to everyone but especially the seniors as they prepare for their last season of college hoops.

EC I think it will be tough replacing all 3 graduates. Fogerty was two time poy, all region and averaged a double - double last year. Storandt was a rebounding machine and his ability to block shots made going to the hole tough. McCoy was the most successful pt guard the sliac has seen. And, one of the best 3pt shooters. These guys are probably the winningest class ever.

But, how much scoring will you get from Forest now that he is not the fourth option? Branch is capable of putting 30 on any nite. And a host of players who have waited their turn. FU will have 4 players on the roster in the 6'6 to 6'7 range and a hand full of 6'5ers (Sheetz and Zeollner have big game experience). This could be a very big sliac team. Or go small and run all day.

Fontbonne opens up in Chicago with Hannibal - LaGrange. A team that will have 4 or 5 games already under their belts.

Yo Hope, mon. You gotta get off the all-inclusive and try Rick's Cafe. World famous for the cliff divers. Also, Dinner at the Rock House, best sunset in JA.

Be careful those aren't real cigars. And, forget bball. Life don't get no better.

If you make Negril, stop by Traveler's Inn. Tell Richard the bartender at the pool bar I said Yo, mon. He is also the most reasonable driver on the island.

I know its a little early, but it looks like Blackburn has a TON of recruits. Some big guys with some talent. Should be an interesting year!
Baseball players get to every base.
