The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

The game at Eureka last year between WC and EC was a good game.  I think it was a 5 pt game with a minute left but EC misses and WC free throws sealed the game.

I wasn't at the game between the 2 at WC but i believe you're right EC lost by like 15 or 20.  again i didnt see the game so i'm not sure what happened.

I just think the meetings between the teams will be good based on the returners from each team.  Both return a solid pg and players that can score the ball (vislay millard kovach/ bell zasada).

I'm excited for the season and can't wait to see some great action in the SLIAC again this year.

In regards to Coach McKinney, I think hes done an excellent job the past three years winning the conf. championship each year.  More than half the battle for d3 is recruiting kids of the caliber he has been able to.  Hats off to him and the FU program but I think we may see a new top dog at the end of this year  ;)

I have in no way posted anything about FU winning the Conference title. Just the opposite. IMHO. There are going to be some bumps and bruises early on for this years Griffins. There are quite a few players who will need time to find their roles. Freshmen have to get up to speed and transfers have to absorb the system.

Sean Gibson joins the squad on Dec 12th. This will give FU at least a proven post. A lot will depend on how fast Rust can mature. How Fleming and Lisch fit into the picture.

Lisch will not be a big time scorer. I also saw him play in HS. He is very much a "Fournie" type player. Will not be out worked or out hustled. First on the floor for a loose ball. Rebounds well. And, can be a complete shut down defender. He does have the size (6'3ish and 205) to play anywhere you put him.

Right now you have the 3 guards Rapp, Branch and Forrest. After that it's a dog fight. Nolan Zeollner has had a great pre season and should be ready to show what he is capable of.

It will be an intersting season. I still believe FU will find away to get a top four spot. Then it's Griffin time of the year.

Those are some good points but I have couple inside sources that tell me how the program really is and I can see how he is coaching. Maybe I think he gets too much credit bc he had a great team last year and didnt finish the way i thought he was going to.

Love 4 da game  -  the proof will be this year - can Coach McK take a less talented, less experienced group to the conference tourney this year......

ec - somehow you left out Crawford when mentioning the scoring options for WC this year. He is proably their top scoring threat based on last years peformance.

I would expect WC to be one of the more athletic teams we have seen in the SLIAC in recent years. They have alot of guys that can play multiple positions. Hopefully all those athletes translate into wins. If nothing else, they should be a very exciting team to watch.

That's right. FU was suppose to beat the number one seed (Wheaton) and march on to a National Tourney Championship. ???
And, maybe your sources are not getting enough PT, so their giving you false info.

Your going to need a tall ladder for the hole your digging yourself.

A VERY, VERY tall ladder!

"didn't finish the way i thought he was going to" - NO SLIAC team has ever won even a first round game - you expected Salem?  In a bracket that included the #1, #2, #3, #4. #5, #6, and #7 teams in the country?

"gets too much credit bc he had a great team last year" - and who recruited that 'great' team?

LftG, your credibility was slim - it is getting slimmer.

I took in a very inspiring practice today at the DSAC.

Couple of quick impressions:
1. This years Griffins overall team speed has improved 10 fold. This will help in games with EC and GC, who have been past problems.
2. Overall team defense is intense and will get after ya. This will help in all match ups.
3. FU can flat shoot the ball.

Sad impressions:
1. No Fogerty, Storandt or McCoy (although Pat is a student assistant).

Good group of young men. Ronnie Rust has as good a touch as any 6'7 freshmen that's come threw Fontbonne. Like to face up and will need to get used to seeing time with his back to it. Will be a very good SLIAC player before he leaves. Fleming turns up the intensity when on the floor. Rapp has bulked up some and runs the team well. Forrest and Branch are in mid season shooting form.
Zeollner looks very good.

Will be interesting to see how they fair against a team with a dominant post (like Oak City). Addition of Gibson in December will be big help inside.

Told McCoy this year will probably be a lot like his sophomore year. Early bumps then a dog fight to get the four spot. Then take your chances.

Got some info on the early practices from Fulton, Mo.  Word is William Woods transfer Justin Gilmore is going to be an impact player for the Blue Jays.  He can play the 3 or 4 (like Millard), and even some 5 if Mitchell wants to play small.  Freshman Skylar Tolson should see quality minutes as well, my source said he is very tough and can really shoot the ball.  Lastly Britton Rudd is rumored to be a younger Rod Sykes, and if this is true watch out.  "The Nest" should be rocking this year again.  The fighting Mitchells will see how good they are this Sunday as they scrimmage Wash U.

And EC, WC won by 9 and EC last year without PG Jason Warncke and the WC defense forced 9 TOs from Kindred. The game was never really in danger. The game at Westminster was won by 21.  But i would excpect this years match ups to be closer and very intense.  It just seems like WC has ECs number

Westmin - wash u  Sunday???   Where, when??  that would be worth missing the Lions Rams !!!

Frostbite, can you help?

also -FC  ...I'm curious, that's twice in two days you've listed players, but not included Lisch  -  once in your most recent post, the other when you said 3 guard (Rapp, Forest, Branch), then a dog fight...  is Lisch going to be less impact than expected?

Hope - I know it is at Wash U sunday, not sure on the time.  I would guess around 1pm, but I will see if I can find out more.

Frostbite - I confirmed, you are correct on the time....

You mean like he did in '06. ;D

No intentional omission of Lisch. Felt I had spoke enough on that topic. He will be hard to keep off the floor. Impact? Ask the big scorers on opposing teams. He's your type of player Hopefan.

It sounds to me like fontbonne may have to go small at times - Branch, Rapp, Forest, and Lisch  -  I don't mind that at all if Lisch plays like Forney did....
