Thanks Wydown  -  I guess I'm amazed many 'fans' took the trip to Indiana to see an exhibition game?

LFTG, nobody wants you to stop giving your opinions. But hearsay is not truth; that's why it's not admissible evidence in a court of law. Therefore, you shouldn't be using the phrase "the truth hurts" to defend your comments regarding Fontbonne's inadequacies in that scrimmage against Oakland City.

Since you weren't at the scrimmage, you shouldn't be stating such subjective evaluations as "looking like he was scared to shoot," "looked like he did not belong out there and very scared [sic]," "looked just as lost as he did last year with not doing anything [sic]," etc. At the very least, you should qualify such statements with a phrase such as, "I was told that ..." or "My source informed me that ...". That's for your own good, because when you make subjective evaluations of this nature about a game that you didn't see -- especially when they regard the mental state of one or more of the players -- it only makes you look foolish.

FC   -  or Love  -  do we know the matchups at the Moody Tourney?   Matchups, and the 4th team are not listed on Font's, Moody's or Hannibal Lagranges pages.....

Hopefan - FU faces Hannibal and Moody plays IN.- NW.

True that it was Flemings first in awhile. Young man is healthy for the first time in awhile. Played on a very good Alton team. Is extremeley quick and a great leeper. You also have Lisch who hasn't played an organized game for about 18 mths.

Melloway was a heck of HS scorer. His size puts him in direct competition for time with a lot of guards. He saw some PT last year and I expect more this year.

Oakland City beat FU two years ago by about the same score. It's just an early season scrimmage. The Alumni game this year will also be a good test. McCoy, Storandt, Fogerty join Fournie, Dressler, Thomas and the boys.

Gregory Sager you make some good points and I would like to say sorry. Next time I will watch my wording. And I would also like to to sorry to everyone else. I am just getting use to this and dont want to make any enemies with anyone. Hopefan- I dont want to make you think I am not reliable but I think for the most part I my news is pretty good. I said FU coach was going to retire after this year but he is stepping down of Athletic Director and may retire we might no know. The game and practice news that I give you is from me observing at practices and some come from players on the team (only the good things or the thing about coach retiring) the bad things are from me observing and from a fan (of one of the players but will not say) telling me of the game. I will make sure I watch what I say and watch what I say. The news I will be telling you today is 2 fontbonne players decided to hang the shoes up today (coming from a player on the team) coach did not say why but I am sure it is bc they did not see eachother playing this year bc it was Allen S. (waterloo) and Ramtin A. (O Fallon MO). It was thier Jr. year and never saw any time so it was not a big hit on FU, just maybe in practice. That is really all I have as of right now and you can ask FCNEWS on that infor.. ;D its right... Again sorry if I mad anyone mad  >:(

L_f_t_G, there is definitely some getting used to posting and figuring out how to share information and what information to share. There is also a "culture" that exists on  the various boards on this website. I read the posts in the ODAC room in the South region, because I went to college at one of their schools, and it definitely has a slightly different flavor. They seem to have a few more people who post who have been doing so for longer than most of us have been on the SLIAC site. They also seem to know each other better and I beleive have met each other in person probably more than many on this board have. As a result it seems they don't take as well to newcomers or outsiders. I put a comment or question on their site occasionally and often get ignored or get a very cursory response by someone. I believe our group is more welcoming to newcomers. So keep writing. We are glad you are here.

LOTG - You scooped me. Confirmation on both players. Correct juniors making a decision. To very nice young men. Both could find a place in the right systems. I've said before FU is guard heavy. Some guys work four years to wear a college uniform. Be apart of the experience. Some this is not what their looking for.

You know Branch and Forrest wil get their 30 minutes. Right now you have Rapp at the top of the depth charts at point. Then you have Buford who is quick as they come. Melloway who just finds away to score and plays aggressive defense. Reese who needs to improve conditioning, but has a huge upside. John has been down with the Flu for the week. Calvin Smith a juco transfer from San Diego who played point.
Then the tweeners: Fleming great rebounder streaky shooter and gets points in the paint. Lisch has the size to play lower, but would look good big at guard. And for now Scheetz. Frank has to realize 6'5 with hops has to get in and bang in this league.

That's 10 players for 3 spots. It's called competition. Both departing players were also guards

ec - somehow you left out Crawford when mentioning the scoring options for WC this year. He is proably their top scoring threat based on last years peformance.

you're right frostbite i did forget him.  He is definitely their best scoring option and one of if not their best defender.

sounds like it was a rough one for WC vs Wash U.  Eureka played Wash U. last year in the Elmhurst tournament i believe.  Eureka didnt stand a chance and lost by 18 or so.  Wash U. is a very talented and disciplined team.  It's no wonder why they are reigning national champs.

Eureka opens up with Rockford and then plays division 1 Eastern Illinois, Monmouth, and then Concordia.  Definite possibility for them to win 3 of the games, assuming they lose to eastern before starting conf play.

I can't wait for the world series to be over and college hoops to start.  baseball season is definitely way too long.

Love_for_the_Game

well.. I guess there is not much to talk about. We will have to wait for a couple more weeks until games and then I guess the discussion will get a lot better. Another report from FU is that transfer C. Smith from La Mesa CA, is also hanging up his shoes with the other 2 former players. Do not know much about him because this is his first year on the team.  Are more going to follow? I guess we will have to wait and see.

Correct Sir. Probably two apples will fall from the tree. As LOTG mentioned, none of these are players that were counted on for minutes this year.

LOTG - You must be a student. Friend of a player? You spend alot more time around Fontbonne's gym then us working men can.

Aways outthere

Your right FC. Two great kids. Always on the bench to cheer their teammates on. I'm sure their teammates will miss that. I wish them the best. A couple things.
Reese and Rapp together ? with Sheetz, Forrest, and Branch ? Riva ? ( No metion of Mike ). Sheetz can be pretty tenacious and Riva has enough size to make a inside presence. FU should be faster overall. They needed more offensive rebounds last year and I'm sure that's a spot that needs work this time around. LOTG- don't let them buffalo you. Try to keep your facts straight but you got " fan drive ". Speak your piece. Sagar you had a very vocal comment about a incident 2 years ago that you didn't view. NOW MY PREDICTS ( notice the concrete still drying )
1) West.                        5) Eureka/ Greenville
2) Font.                          6) Spalding ( unknown )

Thank you Aways outhere, I will keep making post and no one can hold me back. To FCNews I do have a full time job but the thing about my job is IM MY OWN BOSS. I get to spend the day the way I want. That is great thing about getting an education at a place like Harvard :P :P. but nothing keeps me away from college basketball. I moved here to St. Louis about 6 years ago and actually one of my nephews played at FU so that is how I got interested in the school. Always read these post but didnt want to write anythign bc I new someone on the team. Its a passion I have and now I get to wright about it  ;D Like I said earlier, I do have someone that tells me somethings that is going on at FU. I do live around the school so I do get to make some practices but I also go to Webster. I would also like to wish those two kids good luck because I was fighting for those kids that didnt play much the last two years. The only kid left is J. Buford so hopefully he can get some clock this year or maybe he will end up hanging up the shoes. Hopefully NOT.  Well lets get a topic going so we can discuss something. How about discussing the future of Danile Licsh. I am sure he is one of the biggest or the Biggest recruit to come to FU (atleast from now bc of his last name) He will have to prove himself but is he in line for the New Comer of the Year? Im sure its his award to lose. What does everyone else think and if he is not the biggest recruit, I would like to know? It does not have to be just FU, any team in the SLIAC?

What about MacMurray?

FrostBite

I am not sure if he will get enough shots (we all know these awards are based on points scored), but Skylar Tolson should have a big impact for Westminster this year.  I could see him being in the mix for the newcomer award.

Wydown Blvd.

Anyone want to start a list of the SLIAC newcomers with the "most hype" or who were most highly touted in recent history (lets say 5-7ish yrs or so)? From what I am hearing, Lisch would be on the list.
