Gorlok's without Jones, makes assestments tough. WU played bucket for bucket with IWU in the Shirk, til midway thru the 2nd half.

With Jones what do you have? A great game for the SLIAC. Or, did IWU have a nite where it took a long while to get started?

Titan Q will give a good assestment.

Broadcast was excellent guys.

Thanks for the straight info Watchdog.

And tell me about losing three starters. :)

Jones had a death in the family and had to go home for the funeral.

Eureka beats Rockford on the road 91-90. Kameron Bell leads the nation in scoring.

44 pts. 17-28 (2-4) 8-8 with 9 rebs. and the game winning 3pt.

WOW. WOW. WOW. I'm hanging my sliac hat on this kid until further notice.

THAT is really exciting!!!   Congrats to all at Eureka, especially Mr Bell....

Eureka beats Rockford 91 90 on a 44pt performance from Kameron Bell.  I was not at the game but followed the live stats online.  From what it sounded like Rockford had no answer for Bell.  The thing i like most about his 44 is that most of it came from inside the arc.  He also was 1 rebound short or a double double.

Judging by the box score Kindred had a nice game with 19pts 7reb 4ast and Zasada had a double double with 15pts and 11reb.   Eureka committed 21 turnovers which I think probably had a lot to do with it being the first game of the year.

Big win for my Red Devils.  Now they take on DI Eastern Illinois on Saturday.  Hopefully they can make the game competitive

SLIAC fans should savor Eureka's win, especially that it was a 1 pointer. As I look at the SLIAC schedule, and the scores we've put up and who we have to play,  non conference wins vs NCAA D3 could be far and few....  We need to get them when we have a chance, and Eureka did it for us... That's Number 1  !!!!

Looks like FU will be playing small ball until December 12th. Probable starting line up: Rapp 5'10, Branch 6', Forrest 6'3, Scheetz and Zeollner at 6'5. First big man off the bench will be Ronnie Rust 6'7, he's not a true post. BUT, I have been very impressed with this kid. Also, Melloway 6' and Lisch 6'3 will follow the trio of guards.

FU will face GC and Spalding with this line up. Before getting some help from Gibson. This is probably a better match up with GC. This will be a very quick team, that will defend. Spalding is still a mystery me. But, FU see's them at home first go around. Big plus. This years team will be able to put alot of points on the board. GUN and RUN!!!!!

The annoucers of last nites WU v. IWU game, kept commenting on the good double down WU was doing on Sexaur (sp?). They had plaenty of practice at it, after facing Fogerty for four years.

I was just on the conference website and looking at the various games recently played and those coming up. I notice that MacMurray set themselves up with a brutal early schedule. First Wash U last Sunday, then D1 Arkansas State the next day, then Benedictine (they were 19-8 last year and lost by 10 to IWU on Sunday) yesterday, followed by Augustana on Saturday the 21st, Illinois-Springfield on Tuesday the 24th and Hanover on Sunday the 29th. That's six games before the opening day of conference  play, which begins with Mac hosting Eureka. Mac will certaily be battle tested by then and if they aren't exhausted they'll be ready for anything the conference can throw at them.

FU plays Mac 2nd semester. Unfortunately Mac has a history of roster changes over Christmas. I hope I'm proven wrong this year. That's one thing a coach can't do, take your classes. Amazes me how some of the athletes at FU and the rest of the SLIAC schools can not make a 2.0. If you attend class consistantly, do all the work, and let the Professor know your making the effort. It is going to be at least a "C", in most gen ed courses. It seems the, attending classes consistantly, is the part they have the most trouble with. And, at FU class sizes of 15 are more then usual. If your not there your noticed. Prof's take it personally and I don't blame them. "If you don't have the time to attend my class, why should I care about your elgibility problem".

* The above rant is not attended towards any particular school or student. You who do read it take notice. It isn't that tough.

Yes, I have moved to NCAA Division II Mesa State in Grand Junction, CO.  Things are great here in Colorado.  We tip off tomorrow on the road.  I get a chance to see the Mavs for the first time just after Thanksgiving.  So we will see how is compares to good old Division III ball.

FYI, I'm Athletic Event Coordinator for Mesa State.

Great to hear from all of you!  I'll drop by every now and them.  Hopefully I can hit a SLIAC game while I'm home over Christmas!

Sorry you've been demoted from III to II! ;)

Though I'd imagine the paycheck may say it wasn't a demotion? :D

Very telling weekend coming up for SLIAC teams this weekend.  A large number of games against teams that the SLIAC SHOULD be able to compete against if this is to be an UP year...

Greenville and Westminster play a Classic format with Hendrix and Rhodes...  Hendrix hammered Westmister last year, Westminster beat Rhodes twice.  This season Hendrix was beat by Ozarks, Rhodes clobbered Prin....  WEstmin and Gville coming off very disappointing losses....  These are games that could go either way most years against a conference that the SLIAC would aspire to be competitve with...  Westmin and Gville could be 4-0 for the weekend, but just as easily 0-4   ...   an intriguing and important weekend series.

Fontbonne travels up to Chicago to play at the Moody Bible Tourney  -  Coach McK has personal reasons for sticking with this non D3 tourney and I'll respect that, but what a waste of a weekend when the Griffs could be playing in any number of solid D3 weekend tourneys.  As usual they get stuck playing the best team in the tourney, Hannibal Lagrange. Hannibal La is 2-3 to date against a solid NAIA sched, and has to be the favorite in this game, but not so much that Fontbonne shouldn't be able to compete.  Moody and Indiana NW play in the other game - we'll see who Font gets on Saturday.

Spalding plays in the Mt. St. Joe's touney along with Wilmington and Muskingum...   off the top of my head, this looks like an evenly matched foursome--Mt St Joe's was down last year but Wilmington and Muskingum had winning records..

Webster plays in a classic format at Maryville Tenn and LaGrange  -   will be very tough to play Maryville, a perenial tourney team, but the LaGrange game should be level....

Eureka comes back from the great win vs Rockford to play Eastern Ill D1  and Mac plays Augustana - Augie lost a lot from last year, but this likely will still be a no contest....

so 12 games  Friday, Saturday, Sunday
Anything over 5 wins is WONDERFUL
4 or 5 wins is GOOD we're competitive
3 wins uhhh, well it could have been worse
0, 1 or 2..... the SLIAC is down from recent years, and...., well it could be a fact.
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

Great analysis, hopefan. Would you be willing to do the same thing on the women's side? I'd do it but it wouldn't be nearly as good as whatever you would do.

It will be a tough game for the Griff's. HLG is well into their season and true to the good sched. They went down and played a very tough program in Kentucky Wesleyan. HLG is led in scoring by a 6'8 true post. :P

Will report after the game about 8pm.

Good Luck SLIAC!!!
