Back to the all-conf team.  If you look at stats Bell is worthy 1st team

PPG- 21.6 2nd
RPG- 7.6   5th
FG%- 52.3 13th
FT%- 72.7 12th
STL- 1.71  5th
3FG% 40.5 14th

Its hard to disagree Ec_fan.

In the 2 conference games EC has lost Bell has been held to 7.5 points, 6 boards.  As Bell goes, EC goes???

Looks like Zasada is gonna get his almost every night out (that to me equals first teamer).  And the rest of the red devils do a solid job of filling rolls, especially Kindred.  So looks like Bell might be the Red Devils X factor.  If he can lead them to first or second in the conference it might warrant a first team all conference vote.

But if WC ends up way ahead in first place it might be hard not to give two WC players the first team nod because they distribute the ball more evenly.  Im all for stats and think the best players should get on the first team...but high stats dont always equal wins or warranted first team votes (thats my personal opinion).

Bell DOES have a very impressive resume thus far though.

Glad I dont have to vote on this for real.

As well coached as they are they have to win a few, right?  Maybe theyll knock a few teams off.  That loss at home to Prin really scares me though.  Prin is playing better this year though.

Id say FU gets to 6 wins....

Blue-

The few games I've seen Fontbonne play this year, I would hardly say that this team is "well coached"  The only offense I've seen them run is straight motion hoping for some one to get an open shot from outside.  This worked great the last couple of years when FU had big men that the defense had to regard as a threat.  Without those guys, if the shot clock gets down, its one on five with whomever has the ball.

I would think a "well coached" team would have recognized this and made some adjustments after the first couple of losses.

I see your point.  I havent seen FU play this year.

My point in saying they're well coached is that Coach McKinney has won over 750 games in his career.  He has to be doing something right to win that many.

I am not in a position to critique what he has done this year but I would think the man has probably found a way to win some games throughout his career without the most talented teams.  Or win with depleted rosters.  Which is why Id say that his coaching could lead them to a few wins over teams with better records in the conference.

For Coach Mckinney's sake, I hope the staff can figure out how to best utilize the talents of the remaining players and get some wins....   I don't know them personally, but Sheetz, Rapp, Forest and the rest all seem like good kids....  I hope for the best for them....
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

Im not saying hes going to get them into the sliac tourney but with the success this team has had in the last few years i dont think its entirely insane to say that they might win 4 out of their last 8 conference games.

We'll see.

I'm not trying to take away anything from coaches 750+ wins... I was merely looking at the coaching this year.  I understand it's hard to win with a depleted roster but as hopefan said, FU still has some quality players.  I just expected a better showing, which makes wonder if FU's sucess the last three years was coaching, or just superior talent?

Who brought in the superior talent? The percentage varies, depending upon the coach who is responding, but they'll all tell you that recruiting is anywhere from 50% to 80% of the job of being a good college basketball coach.

Westminster up 48-38 in seond half headed to the line.

Kovach Millard and Gilmore playing well.

WC's athleticism is hurting Webster so far.

WC pulls away in the final minutes to win 71-59. Led by a balanced scoring attack. Had 7 players between 8-12 Pts.

Congrats to Coach Mitchell in what I believe is his first victory at Grant Gymnasium. He has his kids playing extremely well!

Thanks Mr Cheeks, Chesty and Puss n' Boots for the updates

I think Greenville needs to come back and get this one today to stay in the race after looking at their remaining conference schedule.

Today's games mark the conclusion of the "first round" of conference play, every team having played each of the other teams once. So Greenville's remaining schedule is no different than that of any other team, except they don't have to play themselves, while every other team does.  :D

thanks for stating the obvious, but whats your point?  If you look at their record they're now two gameS removed from fourth place. Meaning if the top 3 hold those spots (which they're in a good position to do) and mac only wins its home games Greenville would have to win 6 out of 8. And if mac wins that home game against Greenville that would mean Greenville would have to win 6 out of 7, three of those on the road (other than mac).

My point was based on it's first half of conference play Greenville is in a very tough spot with games at fontbonne Webster and mac. They'll have to improve tremendously record wise or all the top teams will have to fall back to them at thiS point.

Just remembered  ??? Webster is in the same position as mac but still both teams have GC at home
