Greg..  I did a lot of complaining regarding the same after the first weekend of the season... most data at least got up by the following Tuesday....  I received a couple of nice apologetic notes and some excuses, but I get the feeling that mid next day, and in the case of Saturday games, Monday morn, is the best I can hope for....  Evidently some of the SLIAC schools are either woefully understaffed, or simply aren't making the demands...   For a you or me who have expectations, I don't think it's going to happen..... :-\  Well, I retire in 4 more years.. if I can keep my senility, I aspire to help at that point in time...

Hope "Ol Buddy. Surely your aspirations are higher then being a "candy striper" SID. You've work to hard and to long to worry about the trivial type things. I had hoped my previous post of stats would hold you and Greg over till actual were posted.

Good seeing you again.

here's my game plan Denny... I'll complain SO much to Will Wolper over the next four years regarding the upkeep of stats that he'll demand each of the SLIAC schools (especially those schools supported by rich church related backers) will be required to pay a $4000 fee to to the conference for data administration  (ME!!!)...   those $ should help out just fine!!!! ;D ;D ;D

Yes, let's hope you can keep your senility...and your sanity. ::) ::)

Hopefan it's been a tough couple of days. But, you just made me smile. ::) ::) ........

I'm not real sure who the rich church related statement applies to. Sisters of Saint Joe are an aging order of nuns. Not sure they have much left to give. And, Catholic donors keep St. Louis Univ. on speed dial. I'm already troubled by whispers of budget cuts. Enrollment is down.... Athletes are up.... Catch 22. As long as they compensate Dad, I really don't concern myself much anymore. The basketball program does a great job of fundraising.

We can only wish for the best Yjak......

See that yjak.. totally in possession of my senility...!!!!

I agree Hopefan. You've been a pleasure to be around this season. Just sitting back and enjoying the games. I like the new you. Keep it up, man. It's only a game. One we all enjoy.

That was never in doubt.

FU vs. NPU recap up on FU website. Stats up on SLIAC website.

Denny McKinney

The silver linning I always look for.

FU free throw shooting had been absolutely lousy. Saturday 17-18
Rebounding - FU out rebounds NPU 40-28 and holds NPU to only 6 off, compared to FU's 12.
FU's defensive focus pre game Crosby and Cahill, then Avery off the bench.
Crosby avg. 17 - held to 4pts
Cahill avg. 13 - Did get 15 on 13 shots. (In front of a nice hometown crowd)
Avery avg. 10 - held to 3pts

25 turnovers (17 2nd half) and 29% FG - Can't win you games.

A few shake ups and a big game Wed. Nite vs. conf. favorite WC.

IWU @ Webster projected starters (Game Day Notes)...

So what's the scoop on Willie Trimble?  How good is he, and how did he end up at Webster?

hopefan

Sorry TQ, haven't seen anything as to how he ended up at Webster... Coach Bunch, through either connections or dumb luck, has somehow had West Coast players (and further west, from Hawaii) and Florida players come to Webster... I know the current Florida frosh originated from a simple recruiting letter to Florida high schools with the idea being with no D3 schools in that area, if there is a kid who really wants to play and hasn't been recruited, give Webster a chance... one interested party, generated a name, a positive visit, and then he brings two more players with him.....

Willie has shown me two attributes that I don't see too often in the SLIAC...  great quickness/ball handling skills, and a certain savvy and understanding of the game that was generated by his playing JC in California.   He is quick to the basket, and can generate'hang time' to the hole... he is very dangerous on defense.. again, he knows how to pressure the ball and anticipate off the ball...  he is not a good shooter, and in my mind took some bad shots against SIUE in an exhibition game, but that didn't happen in the weekend tourney, which to me says he is coachable and smart.  MOST impressive was how he controlled the ball in the last 5 minutes agaist Nebraska Wesleyan... nothing out of control, just giving the ball up when pressured and getting it right back until he got fouled... taking it to the hoop when it was there, or getting fouled.. he had something like 6 or 8 points with 5 minutes left, and finished with over 20....  Also, watch frosh Jarrod Huskie in the middle.. for a SLIAC post man, VERY advanced..

As I said earlier, I expect IWU to be a learning experience for the Gorlocks tonight, not a downer if they lose by 15 or 20... great preparation for Wednesday's conference opener vs Mac...   in my mind, this is kinda like Duke vs Bucknell....

Except Duke is down two returning starters (a 6-5 small forward who is one the best shooters in the country, and a 6-6, athletic power forward who creates a lot of matchup problems for opponents) and has not really been clicking for 40 minutes so far.

Don't get me wrong - IWU is a huge favorite.  But this is not the Titans team that got to the Elite 8 last year (yet).

By "one of the best shooters in the country," Bob means "ranked eighth in the CCIW in three-point FG percentage last season."  ::) ;)

IWU 84  Webster 80    Too much to write about when it's late....   Now rates up there with the best SLIAC performances against a non SLIAC Team that I've seen...  Fontbonne playing Wash U tough several years ago, Maryville beating Mo Bap and McKendree with Bash and the guys, and this one....
Webster takes a 21 point half time deficit down to 2 points twice in the last minute... Sean Johnson makes 4 clutch free throws to seal it for the Titans....
Did I see Frosh Jarrod Huskie outplay Doug Sexauer  -  yes, or if not, certainly even...
and Willie Trimble vs Sean Johnson... certainly Sean in the first half, certainly Willie in the second....
and after a dismal first half, Websters seniors played like SENIORs in the second half...

From the SLIAC perspective, just a marvelous game.... one of those I come away from shaking my head thinking Basketball fans just don't know what they're missing.....  and where the heck were the Webster students.... studying?    Pitiful... there were more senior citizen IWU fans on the bus than there were Webster students at the game.  With a team like  that, the Gym should be packed!!!!

My sincere congrats to the Gorlocks and Coach Bunch on a heck of a game...  that's what it is like to play HARD....  play like that EVERY night......

Great matchups await us in Conference..... Trimble, McCoy, McAfee, Seaton, McClellan, Tolson, Kindred...all are very good... just a shame some have weaker supporting casts...
