Grinnell raced to a 94-50 halftime lead in beating Principia 150-90 tonight.

Yikes... Prin obviously could not adapt to Grinnel's frantic style... they have 32 turnovers!!!.. Zimmerman's stats come back to earth as he goes for 19 points, 8 fo 17 shooting....  wish Grinnell was coming back to St Louis this season.... I know my CCIW buddies have great distaste for the system, but I found it overwhelmingly entertaining when they were at Fontbonne 2 years ago...

Was looking ahead to the first week in January when conference games resume... somehow I hadn't realized that in that week the conference plays a Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday schedule with a Friday game thrown in for Spalding's travel plans...  Everybody but Fontbonne and Prin plays 3 games over the 5 days!!!
And decisions to make for this SLIAC fan who may be willing to go anywhere there is a good game even with work the next day except Eureka and Spalding due to the distance...

on that Tuesday a choice of Webster at BC (BC tough at home) or Westmin at Mac (two leaders) or, if not up for travel Eureka at Fontbonne which is interesting in its own right...

on Thursday Prin at Webster (how will Bunch play Zimmerman?)  I don't think BC at Westmin or Eureka at Greenville is worth the trip, unless BC upset Webster on Tuesday

on Friday... Spalding at Mac... a likely must see for standings implications

and on Saturday, Fontbonne at Webster is a must....

a draining week... I hope I get some rest over the holidays in preparation!!!!

I enjoy watching Grinnell as much as anyone. I have no objections to the Arseneault System, as long as it's not my alma mater that the Pioneers are playing. But OBC's post on the MWC page regarding this thrashing of Principia last night was a little over the top. No offense to the Panthers or to the SLIAC, but Principia's not exactly a D3 powerhouse.

Thanks Hopefan and Mr. Ypsi for those comments.

Due to a concussion suffered in yesterdays practice, Tyle Garner will not be available for FU tomorrow nite.

hopefan

I'd imagine with Garner out, Jenkins and Fleming will likely get more minutes...let's see if either is able to take advantage....  Wash U has lots of 6'0" guards with quickness... it could be tough for Font to keep up.... Thomas, Riva, and Woods should be a reasonable matchup for Gay and Toth....

Speaking of injuries, I see in Mac's 3 point loss to Robert Morris springfield... Frosh star Dylan Burton got 0+ minutes in the box... wonder if he went down just like Huskie of Webster... let's hope nothing serious... two best frosh in conference both out with injury????

at those 3/4/5 positions.....

fontbonne....  nothing at all conference level, at least not yet....

This seems like quite a contradiction of your two statements.

He's got you there, hopefan. ;) :D

oooops   did I exclude the word 'size' somewhere in that phrase?? ;D ;D

Seriously, my first evaluation of Fontbonnes 3 4 5 men included the caviat...."at least not yet"...  I recognize the potential of Thomas, Woods, Riva to provide Fontbonne with solid inside work at the SLIAC level, but to this point their output has been somwhat disappointing...   IF they play to their potential ( and a large part of my estimation of their potential is gleened from the glowing preseason reports received from one Mr. Dennis McKinney), then indeed they should be able to match up with Gay and Toth....  Thomas is much the same build and agility as Gay, Riva and Woods the same kind of bangers as Toth....

Are you coming to the annual "Look, Fontbonne does have students" exhibition?  I say that jokingly, of course, with lots of smiley faces.  That is the reputation Fontbonne has with our students.

Toth, a player who was once touted in the forums as Division I quality, looked mediocre over the weekend.  Gay, on the other hand, looked completely unstoppable, going 9-13 against Claremont and 10-13 against some very big and athletic Tsinghua players.

Hope to see you tonite, WUH..... also hoping Yjak will make an appearance....

I'll be upstairs in my normal Wash U seating

WUH  is there any prelim game?   Perhaps a JV game?

Hopefan - Your estimation should be based on your own opinion (which your never short of  ;D). You've seen us play 3 times now.

Only player I "gleened" about was Woods. And, I believe that was before he broke his foot and put on 50 lbs. As I told you. I expect Ray to be making major contributions by the first of the year. He's dropped 30 lbs and his minutes have gone up with his conditioning.

Thanks to the Wash U athletic dept for arranging for Dad to enter the lower back door. It's going to be a tough enough nite. After, setting for a four hour infusion today and then coaching with that Damn pump on.

Today would of marked three months of recovery, if they hadn't air balled the diagnosis. He's still battling complications from completing the complete chemo and radiation protocol for the wrong disease. But hey he's happy to have his hair back. ::)

It will be a fun nite. What ever the outcome is.
