on the CCIW board, the very knowledgeable Titan Q is making a case that Illinois Wesleyan still has a shot at a bid... while they would not host, it would mean one more team in the Midwest to locate in a foursome.

Because of its central location to the midwest region, some of the West region teams, some of the South region teams, and some of the Great Lakes region teams, and the fact that they will be a bottom seed in any pod, Webster really could be sent anywhere within 500 miles, particularly if the NCAA pays attention to regional ratings and doesn't load up any pod....

As to the game last night
at the 17 minute mark Westmin  37 - 29

at the 13 minute mark  Westmin 42 - 39

at the 3 minute mark  Webster 56 - westmin 42  !!!!!  yep, 10 minutes, 0 points...

Jake Vislay, who got very hot to open the 2nd half and take Westmin to the lead, went 1 for 12, 0 for 5 from 3's in the 10+ minute stretch...  finished 8 for 24...
I'm sorry this is something I just don't understand.. you have the best % shooter in the conference, in Skylar Tolson, one of the best 3 point % in the COUNTRY, and he can get shots, he's good enough, but he can't shoot it if someone else is  .. he gets 10 shots.... and the guy who's firing 3's and missing is incredibly skilled at going to the hoop, going up, and shooting short fade aways, but he doesn't, he's doing nothing but firing 20 footers....  you got me......

Great team effort by the Gorlocks... Willie deserved every bit to be Tourney MVP...Robbie Meeh another fantastic steady,  hit the critical shot, grab the big rebound.. he too deserved the all Tourney team award... but wow, Everyone else did a job last night too.... Bradfish off the bench with 11, Huskey 4 for 4 from the field, Nick Jones 10 boards, 3 assists, Drew Moore 10 points 7 boards, Hollis Edwards 4 assists in limited time.....   a fantastic team effort..

Congratulations to the Webster men and women for winning the conference championships and good luck next week.  I live in Webster Groves so I am partial to anything that happens within the city limits.

One of these days I swear I will stop posting non-SLIAC comments here, but for now, I am posting the Division II GLVC tournament bracket which will be hosted by Maryville University sans Maryville as this may be of interest to those that cannot make the drive to the Quad Cities or wherever the Webster squads ends up next week.

Illinois Wesleyan's shot, most honestly,  is a very long, at the buzzer, more than half-court just as time runs off the shot clock heave and a prayer!

Even if Wesleyan had won its conference tournament and AQ, in all likelihood it could not have hosted as the Lady Titans hold the AQ and are ranked first in their region's rankings.

Congratulations to the Webster men for winning the conference championships.....they are a very good team

Incidentally... I made a comment earlier about Skylar Tolson being one of the premier 3 point shooters in the country...

lo and behold, Skylar LED D3 in 3 point FG % at 51.6% per stats on NCAA.com.  Makes my remarks regarding Westmin's performance all the more logical....

To show the variety in thinking, I've already seen a couple of projected brackets.... one of them has Webster going to Augustana, playing Augie (let's hope that one doesn't happen);  the other has them going to Texas with another 'lost soul' (Bethany), playing the two Texas schools... McMurry and Texas Dallas....

Either could happen, but there are other possibilities as well... we'll see this afternoon...

The big problem is if two schools make it from Texas, where do they play, whom do they play... they are over 500 miles from everyone...

Congrats to the Gorlocks on winning.  May you represent the SLIAC well.

Any good thoughts or answers on why only the top 4 teams are allowed into the tourney?  Is it soley to "protect" the AQ ?

Webster at Augie... AND that uhhh other favorite of mine, Hope also there vs Hanover.....  Think I might have two clear cut teams to root for on Friday!!!   I think I have to go to Rock Island!!!

You have to go to Rock Island.  You must go.  Life (and basketball season) is too short not to go.

That is an impressive stat regarding Skylar Tolson leading the nation in d3.

How long of a drive to Rock Island from St. Louis?  Working on clearing my calendar for Friday and making the trip...thinking about staying the night on Friday and seeing what the Rock Island nightlife is like.  Anyone been to Rock Island?  My brief research showed the school is about 2 miles from the Entertainment District?  Any suggestions or info is much appreciated!

I'm very happy that Coach Bunch, Coach Siener, Coach O'Connell and the Gorlok team finally got that conference tourney monkey off their back and made it to the Dance!  Much-deserved for the Webster coaching staff and players!  Now, time to shock the DIII world with an upset victory!  Hey, it could happen....

Looks like 4.5 to 5 hours on Google Map.... maybe less if you hustle....

Does anyone have a suggestion as to best route to get there.... 67 whole way up looks most direct, but is 55 to springfield, on up thru Peoria quicker?

225-260 miles depending on route....
