Can't say that I know enough about most teams to say much, but I think Spalding will be very solid.

Mac is well coached and returns some good talent, but lost a couple of key players.

Webster will be solid at guard with Trimble, Bradfisch and Edwards plus a couple of last year's other new faces who showed promise. Huskey was solid in the middle but could be helped if Alec Kuhl is back on the team, or an incoming player who can play the post. They'll certainly miss Jones, Moore, Meeh and Restoff. If Whittingham recovers from his injury he'll help at forward.

Fontbonne and Blackburn will have new coaches, so tough to know what to expect there. I think Greenville lost some key players, so another unknown -- at least for me. Prin will no longer have Zimmerman.

Westminster has lots of good talent. Eureka had a rough time last season, especially after a couple of players left the team. Hard to know what to expect there.

Is there any summer league action? I believe there might be games at Meremac tonight.

I know things are slow around here in the summer, so I thought I would post a link to a story and a photo album of the installation of Eureka's new hardwood floor in its facility:

Parquet. Awesome! For those inclined to check out the photo album, there are 157 pictures. Shows pretty much everything from start to finish -- or finish to start in the sequence I looked at it.

Quote from CCIW room :

"Titan Q yes a good source told me that Clayton Cahill was going to be transferring back home to St. Louis for his senior year and attend Fontbonne and play for Steve Schafer who had a part in recruiting Clayton to North Park."

I remember Cahill having a very nice game at Fontbonne last season, as I kept an eye on him because he was from St Louis and had a good family following at the game.  He was North Park's leading scorer with 15 points in the wn.  Over the year, he average 11 points per game for North Park.

He'll be very good at Fontbonne if Coach Schafer can bring in several more players to work with him.....

does anyone know why its taking so long for Blackburn to announce their new AD? I heard that had hired one over a month ago but no official word?

hopefan

Not so sure the SLIAC world (here) would have even found out about the basketball hire had I not called the school and found out and then posted here...  there is nothing on the SLIAC site or the D3hoops site about it... nor is anything even on the Blackburn site...  Kirk Chandler remains identified as the men's coach, Mike Williams as the women's coach.....   I'm beginning to wonder if the the new coach hire I wrote about (Josh Gibson) really stuck....  My thought is that the dept is really in a state of flux, perhaps including the SID role.....

From a good source Blackburn does have a new AD and yes the basketball coach that was hired left for personal reasons.  They have already hired another basketball coach.

Wow HCAC...  that's something else!!!!... Maybe I'll do a little digging and see what I can find out.... Wonder what chased former Maryville asst Josh Gibson away....  the poor guy never even got announced publicly besides here... shame on Blackburn for being so tight lipped....

Hopefan,

Do some digging.  I will keep my lips shut for now.  The new Blackburn Coach will fit in very well with all the good strong coaches in the conference.

Well, got no responses from several emails to Blackburn, so will assume there is no harm done in announcing what I've heard from a very solid outside source....

New men's coach is Jason Baribeau....  Most recently an Assistant at Nebraska Wesleyan for four years, prior to that he was at Hanover as an assistant... two very solid programs - he would seem to be well prepared for his first D3 Head coaching Job....  He also had a head coaching job at Cayuga Community College, and was an assistant at Keuka before coming back to the midwest....

New women's coach is Jen Windmiller, who was previously the Assistant at Blackburn........

I have great memories of the wins and spirit I saw at Blackburn several years ago with the men's team... good teams, great vocal student following..  just a fun place to watch D3hoops... it's kind of fallen off the face of the mountain the last couple of years... here's hoping the new young coach gets things turned around.... as i said before, good situation to step into because BC has some serious talent coming back, if they do come back.....

Just FYI, since Blackburn's new coach is coming from Nebraska Wesleyan, the current AD at Neb Wes was AD and men's hoops coach Blackburn in the 90s: http://www.nebrwesleyan.edu/users/izeff.

Very interesting fact Yjak... I'm sure that helped peak Baribeau's interest in the job... +1 to you

Maybe they want to see if this guy stays til school starts!!! ;D ;D ;D ::) ::) ::)

I would also point out that I sent very pleasant notes of interest asking about who was hired, to 3 prominent members of the Blackburn community, and received  no reply from any of them....my info came from off campus..... I still don't know who the AD is.....
