I won't overwhelm Westmin fans with too many suggestions.....
BUT
go up Thursday and allow yourself Friday day to look around and enjoy Holland before the games...

if you want to eat nice, go to the new Boatworks Waterfront Restaurant

staple family eating is always available at Russ's   (there are numerous restaurants in Holland and along Rt 31 - I only mention Russ's as it is a Holland favorite)

incidently... go early for supper if you want to see the first game Friday.. Holland Restaurants get crowded.

walk the several blocks of downtown Holland to see the numerous quaint shops... don't waste your time at the malls north of town

Drive out Ottawa Beach Road to the State Park and walk the Beach, view Lake Michigan, take a minute to reflect on life - it's a beautiful place whether the lake is calm or rough
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

Well WUH, it will only take 2 wins by the Wash U men or 4 wins by the Wash U women and you can be there to cheer on the Bears!!!!

I am predicting a Westminster upset and a second week in the Field House.  Or, maybe I should predict the opposite because my predictions are always wrong.

The New Holland Brewing Company on East 8th Street can provide you with a few rounds of its own microbrews and I also highly recommend the restaurant as an eatery before or after the game. It offers a nice food and price option, some place in between the family style you get at Russ' Restaurant and the upscale Boatworks. I'm very partial to this place because NHBC is fairly priced, has a varied menu, offers a unique atmosphere, and is located in downtown Holland only about four or five blocks from DeVos Fieldhouse. I had the grilled salmon before the Calvin/Hope game last week and it was phenomenal. The game wasn't too bad either even though the Knights lost. NHBC even has a kids' menu:

Being away for a long time, haven't been there, but heard great things about it from old friends... Westmin fans.. this place is in the Downtown area and close to the Basketball Facility... however, no view of the beautiful waterfront that is afforded by Boatwerks.....  depends on your preference....

I did get a chance to stop by the Westminster gym yesterday while taking students to the state capitol and Churchill memorial.  I have never been in the gym before, but that gym is awesome!  It is so small though.  Is that the smallest in the SLIAC in terms of seats?

Hope 41 - 32 Half
Hope is 3-13 from 3's. Would love to hear how WC shot 1 Ft and Hope 12. WC had a 4 pt lead 5 mins to go in half.

Good job WC. Seems it came down to rebounding. Probably size. Congrats to a Great Season.

Just a quick congrats to Westminster on a fine season.  They made a good showing up here in Holland and played their tails off.  :)

I did some posting about the Westmin - Hope game in the MIAA room -  thought I would copy my feelings here for any SLIAC readers

"being a SLIAC fan, couldn't be happier with what I was able to see of the game on the internet as I attended the 2 games at Wash U.... these David vs Goliath  games usually go one of two ways... it's a slaughter from the beginning, or, the underdog team can come in full of adrenaline and play their best game, eventually falling to the onslaught of superior talent and numbers offerred up by the opponent....  I'm so pleased the latter occurred last night.. it was good for Hope to get the IWU prep with a good game, and it obviously was the great experience I hoped for for Westminster.

Hope fans.. imagine a conference with 4 or 5 or 6 Westminsters... that's what we had this year in the SLIAC, virtually every game, particularly in the last two weeks, going down to the wire... that's why I love this conference and seriously, it's what the MIAA misses with it's normally top heavy ((NORMALLY   )) twosome and everybody else lineup of basketball programs... that feel of equal big game matchups more than a couple times a year."

if any of our Westminster readers went up to Holland, it would really be nice if you shared your experience with us... or the player's reactions to it.....
