Folks did anyone ever bother to think that maybe Coach Bunch is planning and playing for March. He scheduled a bulk of his non-conf. schedule after the first round of conference games. Maybe to get a feel of what he has. Sometimes a loss in December means a win in February.

He has caught a lot of heat about the past two conference tourney results. Give this first 8 games time to play out.

Wonder if any other area can match St Louis's offering of D3 games this weekend  -   if this head cold I seem to be picking up doesn't beat me, I believe I'll see 6 games over 4 days

1)  Starting out tonite with Hamilton at Wash U  -  Hamilton has been a power out east for many years and could give Wash U a test - just about everyone else has played the champs close.  I played against Hamilton back in the late 60's - a beautiful little campus located in the midst of classic upstate NY hills and fields.

2/3)  Saturday starts with MacMurray at Webster - I'll watch the ladies assumedly with Yjak, then take a quick drive over to Wash U to see Illinois Wesleyan play Wash U - a battle of nationally ranked teams.  Yjak will stay to support the Gorlock men and we'll trade texts to keep updated on Scores  -  hopefully FC will be up at Eureka and can provide scores of Font -
Eureka

4) Sunday starts early with Hamilton vs Illinois Wesleyan at Wash U  -  depending on how both fared vs Wash U, this could be a huge game

5) Then over to Webster to see Rust play the Gorlocks - will be interesting to see if the Gorlocks can bounce back from the Disappointing performance at Westminster.

6)  Finally on Monday, We'll see Rust's second game vs the SLIAC, against Fontbonne

Now that's what I call a great weekend   - Will Yjak be able to match me as a D# superfan for the weekend?????    Of course, I'm not so sure my wife will have as high of an opinion of the events as I do... :( :(
The only thing not to be liked in Florida is no D3 hoops!!!

As odd as this sounds, I will say it...

Big game this weekend for Greenville.  They look to go 2-0 for the second time in three seasons to start off conference.  Many may have  ??? that look on their face.  But Principia tends to give us problems every year.  They tend to be that team that is a tripping point of the ball club.

Example:  Last year, the six point loss kept us from the tournament.

Play hard Greenville!!

Hope, I can add you to our EC mobile text update list if you want. Keep in mind the game against Fontbonne is scheduled for a 6 pm tip and that follows 2 women's games at 2:00 and 4:00, so 6 pm is probably optimistic.

Panthers cruise over Principia and take a big 2-0 lead in the SLIAC Race.  Great way to go into break for Greenville.

Fontbonne joins ya Pride. Fontbonne beats EC 75-62. Now 2-0. Also.
I was unable to make the trip today. I will let EC_SID give game view points. All I can tell by stats is FU's Forrest and Fogerty went 18-22 from the field. And Zasada is a player. Pure.

It's all yours EC_SID (sorry I didn't make it up to see ya.) The floors yours.

I wanted to be the first to congratulate MacMurray on their win at Webster yesterday.  Now that Coach Creal can focus on the Men's Team and not coach both teams, Mac should be a tough team to beat.

fcnews

Webster got good win over an athletic and quick Rust team. WU wins by 3.

hopefan had to pass on today's games at Webster due to illness. If I miss tomoroow night at Fontbonne, and he makes both games, we have a draw. But I think I'll go for the win. Or does illness get him a reprieve?

Eureka played better Saturday against Fontbonne, but it ended up not helping in the standings any.  Despite a cold shooting game, EC played well enough to beat many teams.  I would suggest to the rest of the league that if you'd like to knock off the Griffins this year, you get a decent lead going down the stretch because I don't see this veteran lineup giving up many close games late.

Chris Forrest had a great stat line for FU: 9-10, 21 pts, 5 reb, 4 ast, 2 to.  Fontbonne led by 4 at the half and he was the biggest reason for that.  Make no mistake though, when the game was on the line in the 2nd half, Fogerty and McCoy were taking the shots.  FC has typed until he was blue in the face about these 2, so I don't feel I need to trumpet them any more other than to say any coach or fan would love to have them on their side.

On the Eureka end of things, the Red Devils have their work cut out for them now. There is no shame in losing to Greenville and Fontbonne as they both have good squads this year, but EC is 2 games back of them and Westminster with only 6 home games left.  Maybe EC will be one of those weird teams that plays better on the road, but stats geeks like myself know those teams are extremely rare.

EC is looking at undefeated Millikin, undefeated Wash U. and either Benedictine (again) or undefeated Elmhurst to close out 2008. Even 1 win against that slate would be some achievement.

Congrats to MacMurray on winning at Webster. If the Highlanders are going to play well enough defensively to hold teams to 58 points, they're going to win a lot of games this year.

FC, I realized after the game I never added your number to the list. I thought I had and apologize for not getting you the score updates. I was disappointed to not see you in the stands.

From a layman's perspective (mine) Webster missed a substantial number of makeable shots against Mac, especially in the first half. I don't know how much of that to attribute to Mac's D and how much to attribute to poor shooting -- especially all the layups that didn't go in. If Webster had shot better they definitely would have scored more than 58 points and the game would have been much closer. When that happens it can change the dynamic of the game and potentially the outcome. But on Saturday afternoon Macx was clearly the better team. As I said about Blackburn, if anyone has chalked up Mac as a probably win on their schedule they'd best get out their eraser.

Wondering how Yjak (or FC if he saw Rust yesterday) perceives Rust and Fontbonne match up ???   Will this be a game worth climbing out of my sickbed to see?  Rust quickness vs Fontbonne size?

The best I can do is say that I think both teams will play hard. That doesn't mean it will be close and it doesn't mean it won't be close.

fc, what do you think?

fcnews

Should be a good game. FU will get more scoring in the paint and Storandt will make Rust's bigs work harder. Question will be how FU handles Rust quickness. Hopefan don't be bringing no flu bugs into the DSAC. ;D

Can we give MacMurray some credit.  Lets not talk about what if.  MacMurray won by 16. To me there would have to be alot of shots that would have had to go in.  And I am sure MacMurray missed some easy shots as well.
